Officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told sources that the United States would be pulling 70,000 troops out of Asia and Europe. It was

The United States plans to withdraw about 70,000 soldiers from Europe and Asia in a major restructuring of military forces.
According to US officials on Saturday, the move is prompted by the end of the Cold War and the beginning of the "War on Terror".

Currently the are more than 150,000 troops in the Middle East, not including th 100,000 in Asia, 100,000 in Europe, and the 70,000 in Germany.
While some troops will be brought home, fighter planes and other sophisticated weaponry will be taking their place. It is the plan to use bases in
eastern Europe as a transit point so simplify the deployment of soldiers to places like the Middle East and Africa.
It is said that President Bush will be making this announcement at a press conference on Monday. The Financial Times, a British newspaper, had a
confirmed report of the reduction of the troops stating that the reduction would occur in Europe, mainly in Germany.
