Master-card is a medium. They in no way stopped you from donating money, they just stopped you from doing it through them. Direct cash donation, wire transfers---there are many ways to donate money. In master-cards eyes allowing donations to wikileaks was on the same slope as allowing donations to al-Qaeda.

Look if these guys wanted to bring attention to a cause, they could have just dressed up in silly costumes and grabbed a mega-phone and walked up and down public figures office place. Hacking into anything is illegal, they knew it when they did it. Now we got a few who think they have created some kind of new age movement. News flash "THEY HAVE'NT" Most Americans have no time for this stuff, they work, they take care of their families, and they rest.

ahhh the joy of the overused cliche (where's my smiley)

I support the idea of freedom. Anonymous is that idea, and not the organization you all NEED so you can point fingers when it doesn't work out.

They sure are busy arresting hackers today though - 2 other threads I saw (one about MIT and another about 16 arrested, links not handy) - looks like the IDEA is getting the feds panties up in a bunch.

I hope they keep arresting people too and blaming it on Anonymous - the more publicity the better - the more they arrest, the more people will pay attention and I bet more of those people join the movement than criticize it

Of course we both are overestimating people aren't we.

You think everyone here is smart enough to communicate without smilies (assuming smart people can't use smilies is ridiculous in itself but you know... thats not my point)
I think people are smart enough to take the time to find out what its all about.

But most people just sit in judgement of what they do not understand.
Its proven to me time and time again.

Not the enemy, since when has anonymous done anything productive or for the community...all they do is cause mischief and problems you want to help change the world well guess what YOU CANT so this so called annonymous needs to stop wasting their time before they F*** everything up for everyone else!
(that is a BIG "if" they actually exist)

You obviously don't know that much about Anonymous. But that's ok because we're all here to learn. How about this? Note, you might want to read the article in my signature first.

I have to disagree in a way. The fact they had the capability of taking down Mastercard shows they have some force, in the least. Let alone taking down H&R.
The movement may fail, but they have created one. Have you seen "The Plan"'s video?

www.youtube.com...

Over-Dramatic and one sided---the American populous will eat this # up.

Don't get upset Tinfoil. just 29,984 people to go, and the feds will have saved you from the cyber geeks.

A group of kids could never have an impact on the world, eh?

When you are proven wrong I hope you show a little bit of humility... but I don't expect that you will.

Thirty thousand strong on their site, three hundred thousand strong on twitter followers etc.. Here's your set of blinders, Mr./Mrs. Clydesdale.

Please show me a link demonstrating what YOU'RE doing to help humanity so that people like myself who want to make a change can do so without having to resort to the evil anonymous website.

Yep, you can cut that sarcasm with a spoon.

Charlie Sheen beat that in his first 10 minute twitter.
What you posted to brag about sounds pathetic as far as twitter followers go.

Excuse me? Don't put words in my mouth. I do not brag about anything. Pretentiousness is unbecoming. You took what I said out of context as well because I was merely informing someone of a fact.

Is this what your debate has boiled down to?

Mr_Skepticc,

Thought I would add this link. I did not read through the post, however I just saw it on the news here in Queens and went hunting for the story as well to get the link.

And that is all I assumed, if I am not mistaken. So do you, or do you not, support anon? Why or why not?

I am "neutral" on all of it, to be honest.
Until I learn more about what's actually going on.
But given the "track record", and looking at "who" and 'what" has been "attacked" thus far.....
I really can't bring myself to look at them (the 'hackers'), as "bad guys".
I don't quite see them as "good guys" either..
But they seem to have better intentions than those they've attacked.

"support"? Nope. I can't call it 'support'.
But, "Enjoying the "show"? Yes, Slightly.

I consider myself an avid supporter of anon. But I still disagree about the attacks on mastercard---it was hypocritical and an attack on mastercards free speech.

Thank you for clearing that up.
I consider myself a supported, but lately I disagree with many actions they are taking.
Sadly, history repeats itself. As anon grows large a leader will try to emerge, and even if they fail they will take some with them.
Really this is no different than the generation that grew up in the 60's---they were supposed to change the world, just look how that turned out.

You told him he had blinders on because he didn't notice that pathetic number of twitter followers.
I call it like I see it.

I can't disagree with the attack on mastercard - all credit cards hide behind something called a "credit score" so they can charge higher interest - its no better than usury - and it only hurts people who are usually already suffering. Most people don't get up in the morning and say "I'm not gonna pay my bills today" - they're losing hours at their jobs, they're losing their jobs altogether, they may have illnesses, whatever - Credit card companies take advantage of that one late payment and charge 34% interest - its BS

Newsflash, activism has evolved just like everything else.

Just because they don't conform to your idea of activism means nothing. The mega-phone days are coming though, you can bet on it.

And most Americans don't have time for this stuff, you're absolutely right. But the beauty is that this will change once they have no choice.. once our way of life is totally raped, even the people we're currently arguing with will see the light.

That's the real shame.

If you have nothing constructive to say then shut up.
Skeptic has just as much right to be here as anyone---this forum is about discussing topics, which is what he is doing. Remember the age old proverb--- "When you think you are sure, you are almost surely wrong"

lol,
You mean like mr.skeptic "being sure" and "knowing" that anon. is "going down" and that "the feds are onto them" ?

Exactly.

Thanks sweety for pointing that out .

There is much (hypocrazy ) going down here . people never look at themselves in a way we will see what they just said , thus the need to point it out . If I am being a hypocrit let me know and i will see .

In the sixties there was a lot more drugs, and a lot less technology. Now with one post on twitter or facebook, any one literally contact hundreds of thousands of people. I think that tips the scale a touch more than getting together in a drum circle and smoking doobs in protest of 'the man'.

This movement has many factors on it's side technologically, and in a personal sense. People who choose to get involved are the ones who have taken notice of how effed up everything has gotten in the last decade. After 50 years of oppression and censorship, the people now have the tools necessary to change the world the way we want it, not the way oligarchical governments tell us it has to be. Do we really need the government to hold our hands through everything? Can't we decide for ourselves what we want for our world with out being told to shut up and fall in line?

The answer is yes. The tools, are the internet, the streets, and the community. With enough bees in the hive and the technology that some smart geeks are executing via cyber space, our voices will be heard for as long as it's necessary. Will there be resistance? CERTAINLY. Do we care? NO.

The beauty of it all is that now the government is getting scared!

ENTER at your own risk.

Site will be under routine maintenance at 9:00

Following very recent developments, that would seem rather coincidental, eh?
