Surely death is not like going to sleep....like someone here wrote before...look at the eyes of someone dying and wish him or her good night.
You have to be aware that you are dying that is the only way to peace.
And once in a life time ,be a hero be a superhuman, die with joy and dignity.
This line above is not to be taking personally .

I believe people experience death every night when you go to sleep. You don't remember going to sleep and you don't know that you are sleeping. So I figure death is a lot like falling asleep.

Thus I'm not afraid of "death" I'm only afraid of the extreme pain that might happen before I get there.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but having had my heart stop twice, I can tell you that it's not like sleeping. The drifting off is kinda similar, but once you're "gone", it's not the same.

to OP. Are you afraid of sleep? i mean you only know you are alive when you wake right?
i think most people are scared not of death, but the possibility that there is nothing..
it's scared of the unknown, and everyone is scared of that...

A lot of people are in complete denial that death is going to come to them at one point even when they think they are not, never mind trying to even ask what death actually is or what comes after it.

I think the subject of where we (as individual sentient consciousnesses) came from is just as interesting, and could shed light on where we're going.

My consciousness (and point of origin) originated from an egg perhaps? A sperm? Those are crazy odds (stacked on top of the already staggeringly unlikely odds that we are here right now in this habitable place in our present form). If it was from one of those things, think of all the lost life potential that never even got a chance on go-round x (and also, what led to THAT state -- how far can we go back to identify what led to us as individuals having this life). If it's not from there, from where? Not seeking a religious answer here. :-)

One thing I believe is that what happens once will happen again given enough time. If you strip the essence of life down to "being", and can accept stripping down the self/notion of identity a lot -- I think it's likely we will have life again.

Life is for living! Your job here, what you are hear for is to go and gather experiences. We are the universe's sense organs. I believe the universe is a living organism, and like a child that has a desire to know- we are the means of the universe learning itself. The universe contains all knowledge, but knowledge without experience is hollow. So go forth, unafraid, and try something new.

Was thinking about it this morning while trying to fall asleep.

I can't say i am fearless but i have accepted it. It's worse to lose ones you love and you are stuck here. The ones who die first are the lucky ones. I have lost a brother and still after all these years i see that pain my parents have. It makes the ones left behind empty no matter. So basically i fear that much more than death itself, to see my kids leave before i do, that really scares me.

No reason to be afraid of death, or you'll just be afraid to live.

As a Christian, death doesn't bother me in the least bit, though I have to admit, even if I wasn't a believer in God, I wouldn't be afraid of death. Death is inevitable, no point in fretting over it.

i am not afraid of death simply because before we were born we were dead and it will be the same after will die unless the the religions of the world are right or we are all sitting in some kind of simulation chair.

Interesting...I am pretty sure that the death you had in your dreams was your marriage weighing on you. I think your sub conscience felt as though you would feel like you were dead if you remained in that union...hence the dreams stopped once you got the divorce.

Apologies up front for not reading through the thread first.

Short answer to the OP question..No.

The reasoning behind not being afraid of death...

I've worked with the dead (ghosts you can call them) and learned how to help them over into their next phase. I've been doing this for many years after finding the place they go to by myself in the mid '70's.

Sounds crazy right?

Just so you know I am not a lying nutter making wild claims... I get employed by home owners and businesses to do this work when it becomes obvious to them that something non-physical is causing disturbances there.

When the dead depart the physical, some do not know they are dead and hang around trying to live their old life... they see everything from their perspective only and so cannot see the truth aronud them.

Some of the dead get caught in what is now called the Belief Territories, where they create their own reality based on their Beliefs about life and their "self" worth. They stay there until they begin to wake up and see clearly.

Others simply make their way onto the next phase easily.

Thos who don't, those who get stuck near the physical are the ones I help. And here is what I experience of it with them...

Once they are cleared of the illusions and Beliefs creating their Limitations and can see the Light I hug them and take them across into it. When we get there we come to what I call the arrival zone, where they are met by somone or something that they knew in their life.

Within a few seconds they begin to light up from the inside.. and this is the most beautiful thing to witness. What happens here is that they begin to recognise the FEEL of the place.. begin to Remember being there before and as that knowing dawns on them, ALL the Human Beliefs, all the Human Concepts of reality..Everything we Thought should or could be simply drops away from them in the Light of this Greater Reality.

In the case of Suicide they are met with what appears like a medical team, because even in that place the reasons behind Suicide are seen as an illness. So they are helped to a healing state.

From there it is up to each one what they Intend to do.Some very beautiful ones stay and assist with the work going on there... some work only with the small children, some only with the drug-addicted, etc. Some simply decide to take time out before choosing another physical experience Here or on other worlds offering Experience.

And some choose to pass through review and decide on their next life Here in order to return as quickly as possible for more experience.

* Important thing here..... ALL of those who return Here know at that level of awareness that Human Beliefs are miniscule and far from the greater reality.. they know that Duality only exists in worlds using it for experience.. they know that all things are valid experience.

This is why I am not afraid of death. To me, any day is a good day to die or to live.

I've always liked the line out of Life of Brian " you came from nothing, you go back to nothing, what have you lost ? nothing ! " come on hum it with me "Always look on the bright side of death "

On a serious note we're all made from the remenants of exploded stars and will probably end up as another star or part of a solar sytem in a few billion years or so, for some reason i find that comforting.

The graveyard is full of people who didn't have time to die. That's why most people are afraid of it IMO. They were so busy being a part of the rat race that they didn't have the time to contemplate the alternative, except to say that they had to make preparations on who was going to pay for the ensuing funeral. Making money so they can pay for death. Doesn't get more unnatural than that.

Personally, I live my life to the fullest and as close to nature as I possibly can. Since I consciously make my life as natural of a process that I can, the death of my body will follow suit and go naturally. What happens to my spirit or my soul will be found out after I die, not before. Again, that's part of the natural process of living.

So my answer is NO. I'm not afraid of death because I do not fear nature. I embrace it.
