The Federal Election Commission's second quarterly report for political donations came out, and it looks like Hollywood's stars and elites are going to buy this election, too.

What can be done about the rich determining our elections? (We all know, that more than anything else, it takes campaign money to win an election in this country.)

Stop watching TV and Movies.

No money for stars = No buying the White house.

Simple huh? Too bad it'll never work.

The GOP does this as well, mainly through businesses though, so I don't see anything wrong with it.

What I find wrong is spending multi-millions for a $400,000.00 salary. Doesn't make sense to me.

And rarely does any candidate actually pay his own election costs.

Vote for Ron Paul? I don't know, I feel that on a national level, we have no sway anymore. Special interests and lobbying rules the day, and whoever gets elected has to cater to their supporters, of the monetary persuasion.

Further disenchanted,

Hmm I wonder if there is some sort'a auction house..

"Buy a politician: $ 50,000"

"Buy a President: $1,000,000"

because at the reate of special interest and or idiot funding, the people in government try and sell themselves to special interest, or others with money, to further their idiocey..

What a crock, this is worse then professional wrestleing, and a whole lot less intertaining..

Time to set Rome on fire!

I'm saying he is the only one I would trust with campaign cash, but no, I wouldn't think he'd refuse any support, just not be owned by the support, imo, which is why he will probably never make it all the way.

When you think about it, the most retarded impact on America and maybe even the world is Hollywood. This "royalty" needs to be wiped off the face of the planet. They are idolized and worshiped like Gods. They provide an unrealistic example of body type and wight in general. They are copied by millions. Down with the Gods! lol.

They're actually, to be pitied, many of the actors and actresses have had so many roles, and taken on so many different characters, that they seem to loose themselves to a warped sense of reality.

After a whie, I am sure many loose their ability to see things as normal humans would.

Thus they constantly view things in a warped sense, as if from a movie character role, dis-associating themselves from reality.

Just like many who tend to play heavily in LARP, or Live Action Role Playing. LARP description

So what we see as messed up in our reality, is no more then Hollywood people continueing their movie rolls in real life.

I think it will be balanced out by the corporations that can donate whatever they want huh?

If you get rid of one you have to get rid of the other.

Hopefully the people will once more be the deciding factor.

I think Hitler already tried to do something like that.
It didn't go over too well as I recall from the stories.

What can be done?

Eliminate the presidency. Have locally elected canton governments instead. Then you won't need millions of dollars to get your message out to every person in the US.

The only way to change this is with campaign finance reform.

Citizens United made the situation even worse and it's not going to change any time soon.

This is a great idea, but totally unrealistic. America is overly-hooked on both.

Contribute enough to the right politician and don't have to worry about paying taxes.

Look at GE, look at all the companies that got Waivers on Obamacare, look at the Military industrial complex and republicans. You don't even have to read between the lines. It's right there in the open.

As a SAG/AFTRA actor I have to agree with you somewhat. I have met a few stars that seemed to be completely divorced from reality but most are just like you and I except that there is constant pressure from outside by people wanting their money, their attention, their time, and their soul. Is it any wonder they want privacy even at the risk of seeming elite?

Even as a low level performer I sometime get the opportunity to party with very well known stars, directors, producers, crew etc. Most are just people with all the faults, dreams, obsessions and frailties as the guy that works at the lumber yard or the gal that cuts your hair.

Why the need for scapegoats?

The other side of the coin....

Boycott them. If you don't go to see their movies they can't afford to give money to leftist politicians.
