What a horrific net, almost completely invisible in the water---aren't gill nets illegal in civilized countries? Shame on the fishermen who use them!

God bless that crew! Thank you for posting this awe-inspiring video.

Reading from the replies, we humans obviously yearn for a day when love and compassion rule the planet. It actually made me realize that we should post more inspirational and positive videos which lift our spirits with joy. Almost everyone liked the video so it should be natural that we post more videos like this.

To those wondering if human compassion is still alive, the answer is a big YES! It is just that most of the news being reported is about human oppression and cruelty. But those are not the only virtues (oppression and cruelty) we are capable of. We are also capable of love and compassion. My guess is that majority of us are capable of love and compassion.

It does my heart good to see how many flags this thread has gotten.
My faith in ATS'ers has been restored.

I am coming to believe that a degree of sentience is universal to all life forms, and for many creatures, is not so different from our own.

Great video.

See how backwards our society truly is?

What would you rather do in life? Try to save the ecosystem, or work a 9 to 5 in the "service industry"?
Well, the service industry does pay a wage, and saving your world usually does not pay a wage.

That's our problem. We are investing our money in destruction rather than construction.

Perhaps it's time people start thinking long and hard about the consequences of what they spend their money on, and become more reluctant to investing in destructive business practices which lead to an ecological nightmare.?

That is a great video. I believe that is one whale thrilled to be alive. Let's hope the Japanese or Chinese don't get a hold of it. I am just sayin...

Great video.

I think most ATSers are smart and great researchers. Sure most of them don't post much, but they know how to figure things out.

Don't let a few loud mouths distract you from the quiet masses observing what goes on here.

I honestly believe the majority of ATS is mature enough and well educated enough to know how important it is to save our ecosystem from the imminent collapse we could be facing.

That's why I like coming here so much, you will find some of the coolest people (and best conversations) around the Net here.

I wouldn't be too worried about that.

First of all that would be a really long swim from the coast of Mexico to the Asian coastal areas. Very long swim.

Plus we have to factor in the types of dangers and obstacles we have place in between those two locations. A well known example would be the Pacific "garbage patch". I would consider a whale swimming through that mess as very risky, as debris could easily block it's blowhole.

Also consider the amounts of pollution out there too, and I am not just talking about Fukushima there has been many other instances of dumping (mostly illegal) for decades throughout the Pacific.

Honestly I am surprised there is still life to be found in our oceans.

Such a beautiful video and so moving to see the whale that joyful after being so lifeless at the start.

Puts things into perspective, if only moments like this was plastered across the news instead of the latest global negativities.

S+F!

Intelligent sea life is a marvel of our planet. The intelligent life on land, however, is destructive, slothful, has turned away from God to become a fiction of themselves, is disgruntled thieves, poor stewards of other life, poor stewards of technology and innovation, wreckless manipulators of DNA and life in general, and headed for destruction by other intelligent life headed our direction.

I'm in tears ! Damn it. That's the most bitchen thing I've ever seen in my life.

SnF

What intelligence does mankind really possess if he allows, or worse causes these things to happen ?
We are not smart enough to be without guidance.

What a great thread you started, Stars and Flags for this one.
Why can't there be more joy in the world like this that would include all nations and peoples as well.
