Iran uses cranes in public hangings

A Japanese company said it has ended contracts with the Iranian government following a report that its cranes have been used for public executions.

Crane-hanging has become a common practice in Iran. Tadano’s cranes, as well as those produced by other international manufacturers, have been used to make a dramatic public scene of executions. In 2004, Iran garnered international attention for hanging a 16-year-old girl from a crane in public view for having promiscuous sex, a violation of Sharia law.

Well I wouldn't be surprised for it to spread into Europe as they do have quite the history of public display's of executions. I don't think France will be doing it for awhile but it is an effective means of control and always has been.

maybe if we would start doing public hanging again in the US it would cut back on crime

Some poeple in Islamic nations are executed for making moral choice errors that would be not even be punisable by a suspended sentence in the west.

I think the story is in the Public part?

Its making a trophy of human death?

They make it into an occassion for people to dress up and have fun , whilst people die, swinging off a crane.

It eliminates the dignity of that person.

It gives the law makers(sic) ultimate control over the population.

Yeah no kidding. I guess using an authentic gallow, the electric chair, firing squad or lethal injection for capital punishment execution purposes is lot more ethical and humane.

The whole point is that murder shouldn't be celebrated.

What's wrong with the people who come to watch? If nobody watched then this wouldn't happen. Making a huge scene only encourages this behavior

There's already been instances of Chinese trucks and ammunition with the Sudanese military which eventually ends up in the hands of the Janjaweed militia in Darfur.

Of course when the report was released, the Chinese government predictably criticized the report as being a pack of lies.

the lovely squares, plazas and piazzas the tourists flock europe to admire, were originally the venues of when we used to host executions as public spectacles too

after we drove the muslims out
