Considering the majorly political application of a weapons system which most scientists in the field in the US and Russian Federation agree is hugely untested, and probably hugely over realistic (and considering that this is pishing the Russians into limited deployment on the new generation Topol M ICBMS), I think that it is rapidly boiling down to dangerous electioneering through military science (and bad science at that...)

Isnt it scary to give future political leaders the idea that they have a defensive capability, possibley shaping future policy decisions, when the reality is that there is little capablilty at all? Brinkmanship is bad enough when u know the stuff works...
