Really? Never, anywhere or any time in your life?

Or just in this thread that is specifically discussing FOX news and the WH?

It's predictable and yet still fascinating to see people try and excuse FOX's transgressions by blaming MSNBC. As if anyone critical of FOX worships at the feet of Rachel Maddow.

IT must be hard being so rabidly partisan as you accuse the rest of the world of being.

Fox News has no place in the world of journalism, commentary or reality

The mainstream media is a conglomerate of biased sensationalist crap - all of them - MSNBC CNN ABC etc.

But Fox News is there to appeal to the gun-cradling, paranoid schizophrenics who think anyone wanting to tax millionaires is a socialist.

Can't wait for this bunch to die off

its so sad that so many of you are caught up in party politics. i'm conservative in my economic views (not republican), and there is sooo much spin in the "no spin zone" you'd think the building would be blown away. and guess what? the same thing can be said of EVERY news station.

fox exists as an outlet for republicans so they feel atleast someone is thinking like them, and that there's hope in the system. cnn exists to do the same thing for democrats. you're all being played. you defend your champions tooth and nail while career politicians laugh all the way to the bank.

here's a quick self-assessment: if you hear the word "republican" and you feel revulsion, or a sense of agreement, you've been brainwashed! toss in democrat and see what the results are.

When people accuse me of being everything from a slaveowner to a Nazi and assert I was not born in my own country, state their desire to tear me down, attack my children, and lie about everything I say.. .i'm not going to like them

OK, we get it... FOX is biased and evil.

But answer this:

Is it acceptable for any White House administration to conspire against news media supporting opposition opinions?

Exactly.

But more surprising is; why is there a thread in defense of Fox News? Am I still on ATS? How come this is not being hailed as a positive move by the American government? Not that it really matters all that much...

I would posit that is a falsely framed question. FOX isnt 'conspired against' because of 'opposing viewpoints'. they are acted upon because of their track record of lies and deceit. I think it is a great precedent, and hopefully msnbc and cnn are next.

Just out of curiosity, what is with the deflection attempts? Don't like the thread so deflect with an attempt to make Fox look bad when it wasn't Fox who hacked the phones, it was another company who just so happens to have the same parent company as Fox. Do you hold the same hatred for the Wall Street Journal since they are also owned by News Corp.? Or is it only Fox that you deem guilty by association?

I strongly disagree, it isn't a great precedent. It is the first step down a slippery slope of government controlled media, government controlled thought. When REAL TRUTH is presented in the media for the public good we do not want any precedent for government silencing of that truth.

Please show me when and where I ever made those accusations to you or about you. If you're accusing Fox News of This, Please be specific, I don't need these messages from your friends.

Again, I am confused how you can think this is a 'first step' towards anything. The WH press corps has ALWAYS been cozy with the WH. To pretend that this sort of behavior is in ANY WAY new implies to me your ire is specific to a party, or your memory is amazingly limited.

But if you want to pretend this is because FOX is some sort of 'opposition and not because they are a sleazy tabloid, feel free. But it wont make it true.

I thin it is legitimate to call into question any of Murdoch's media enterprises, seeing as how he was running things at a particular brittish tabloid. And yes, that certainly involves the Wal street Journal's steady decent into tabloid journalism.

Really?

Imagine a future admin which is worse than Bush & Nixon combined. They don't want people to figure that out so they begin to play the favorites game. They invite to the press meeting all who are sure to cozy up; block all who are critical, block all who might ask the questions that expose corruption, ensuring the WH friendly, WH approved message is the only one in the media thus allowing them to continue their criminal activities.

And all the while they'll say "Well, there is precedent, the Obama admin did it so it must be OK."

Sigh. But thats just the thing. This isn't a 'first step' because it didnt start with the current White House, which was your initial claim I took exception with.

EVERYTHING you just described as a possible future scenario is how it has worked for as long as there has been a press corps.

Yes, we are in agreement here.

Agreed.

But this statement suggests that while the Obama admin didn't start "press-corps-favoritism" they are certainly CONTINUING the practice.

Do you condone the practice?
Do you suggest the Obama admin doesn't engage in this practice?
Are you suggesting it is OK in this instance because they are doing it to FOX News?
Are you a proponent of double standards?

What media empire hasn't devolved into tabloid journalism? Every one of them jumps at any chance to talk about the latest celebrity scandal or the latest Congressman to cheat on his wife. It's not something unique to News Corp. owned media outlets, nor is it a justifiable excuse to bash one media outlet for the actions of another based solely on them having the same parent company. To do so is nothing more than an attempt to justify an unreasoning rage toward a media outlet that doesn't share your particular viewpoint, and honestly it's a bit silly.
