I was reading a thread about the contribution levels, and realized that I should be a Bronze contributer by now.

BRONZE:
The first of our elite levels also triggers the code that removes ads from the discussion board*, the indicator requires at least:
300 posts, 300 stars, and 300 flags.

BRONZE: (exception)
Members with more than 2,000 posts, but less than the other levels for bronze receive the "BRONZE" tag, but still see ads.

Why can't I see the "bronze contribution level" thing in all of my posts? I can't see it in my profile either.

Also, do the ads that it removes only apply to when you're looking at threads? Because I still see one or two on the homepage everytime.

It says that it "triggers the code", maybe we should have got a code in a U2U that we paste somewhere and accidentally missed it.

No, it's automatic.

Or it was automatic, I was a bronze contributor before however I see nothing on either my profile or posts nowadays.

I think it's because the GODS introduced the new system of Karma and WATS index, so I'm not sure if they recognise Bronze as a level any more.

Would be good to hear a mods reply as it's something I've wondered but haven't got around to asking

I've been looking around and I've seen silver and gold things in peoples posts, but not any bronze contribution level indicator. Maybe it only shows up once you hit silver

These tags are no longer used, we have WATS now which covers the same things (flags, stars, applause etc)

It's possible though, that the criteria for reduced ads still remains.

Yeah I contacted a MOD, so hopefully we should have an answer

The apprentice, solid, bronze, silver and gold contribution levels were implemented in 2009 and discontinued some time last year.

So if you don't have a contribution level tag it's because they are no longer in use.

Edit: You may still see some folks with the contributor tags in their signatures. It's because they put them there themselves, and not because the ATS software put it there.

I kind of agree with what you're saying but also understand that those are old contribution level features that no longer exist.

I too qualified for the old bronze level and although I still have the "no ads" feature there's nothing to indicate bronze to others on the board.

Why show silver and gold contributors with a fancy border and title and not the bronze ones? The whole concept of "silver" and "gold" has always incorporated a "bronze" whenever used elsewhere, 1st, 2nd and 3rd, just like the olympics.

Scrap them all or make it fair.....and the current "gold" colour still looks like plop colour btw.

I should be gold ..

but the new system changed all that
also there is the Bronze level missing

Mods should reinstate the Bronze Level in the new system level

Who vote to reinstate Bronze ?

Hey!
Everyone is equal here!

Just some are more equal than others.

I hope, that if ever I trip these codes that label me a whatever level contributor, that there is an option to disable it. I despise "popularity" games and I do not read/post here for a damn medal.

I'm not exactly trying to get some internet attention by having some bronze lining around my posts, I just read about the contribution levels in a post and realized that I should be bronze by now and was curious.

Maybe ATS should poll all members..

I think the old system sounds better..

Earning a set level when you reach a predefined target seems much fairer than a ranking system where only 100 members are acknowledged IMO..

Are you serious? You mean when I see threads like this : www.abovetopsecret.com...
That the creator of the thread actually put that in there themselves and is stroking their own ego?

I find that highly unlikely based on the way it surrounds the entire post. Please elaborate how that was done!

No, the new borders (that surround the entire post either in Silver or Gold) are automatically generated and assigned via the new ranking system.

However, you may still see members who have placed the old labels (Bronze, Silver, Gold) in their signatures.

I vote to bring Bronze back as well, I was Bronze

It's not like I'm particularly bothered about how someone is ranked or what not, I decided on whether I agree with someone or if I like them based on what they write. Just think the three ranks were a nice touch

I get it, too many little folks walking around with bronze medals, yeah that makes sense!

Hmmm.

The idea that the gold and silver contribution boxes surrounding a persons post responses doesn't seem like something that is placed there by the poster themselves.

I know the old tags are no longer used, and when I became a bronze content contributor the ads stopped, but I no longer see any kind of definitive badge of contribution.

The fact that some members have contribution "badges of honor" -if you will, smells fishy to me.
I would be almost willing to bet my life that the content level boxes are being placed there by a member alone. If this is the case then perhaps I could apply a plutonium content box around my post. Or do I need a special piece of code given to me by ATS to insert into the CSS index?

ETA: Oh I see, so what are the "NEW" requirements to reach godhood, as set forth by ATS guidelines?

Also I have been living my life according to the following guidelines.

The Thresholds Of The Indicators Are:
APPRENTICE: Our brand-new thread starters who are just getting their feet wet, the indicator requires at least: 20 posts, 10 stars, and 10 flags.

SOLID: The core of our contributing members who may not be able to spend lots of time authoring threads, the indicator requires at least: 50 posts, 50 stars, and 50 flags.

BRONZE: The first of our elite levels also triggers the code that removes ads from the discussion board*, the indicator requires at least: 300 posts, 300 stars, and 300 flags.

BRONZE: (exception) Members with more than 2,000 posts, but less than the other levels for bronze receive the "BRONZE" tag, but still see ads.

SILVER: The second of our elite levels who see no ads on the board, the indicator requires at least: 400 posts, 500 stars, and 600 flags.

GOLD: The highest of our elite levels who see no ads on the board, the indicator requires at least: 500 posts, 750 stars, and 1,000 flags.

Update For Applause Indications A secondary tag has been added below the "content contributor" tags to indicate applause received.
They are... "this one is aware" - 20 or more applause
"this is a critical mind" - 40 or more applause
"we have a deep thinker" - 60 or more applause
"a fine conspiracist" - 80 or more applause
"simply stunning insight" - 100 or more applause
"godlike wisdom" - 150 or more applause

SO have I been living a lie? Tell me it isn't so ATS tell me I have not been living this ,...this lie.
If this is not true then what is the real threshold indication for acquiring elitist status?
