You people aren't very bright. OP was just showing pictures of what the sun actually looks like, and saying that what we see isn't the real deal. He wasn't saying the we believed the sun didn't exist.

The Sun doesn't actually look like that like that.

They are using filters in the imaging process.

Anyway, every Tom, Dick & Harry knows that the sun isn't exactly the way it appears to us with the naked eye.

I appreciate the pics of the sun the OP has posted, I think there are even better ones out there, as for the reasoning behind the post, seems to me the OP is just trolling for responses , thus is why the OP is using such inflammatory remarks. just my 2 cents.

ah no in all seriousness i think we all know the sun is a beautiful thing observed threw the filters, we have so much to learn from it, its cycles, behavour, flares, sunspots... the list goes on and on.

at least this thread drew our attention to the sun again and observed its glory even if we didn't understand what the thread is about

We have never seen the sun, with any kind of filters, telescopes or anything.
Al we've really seen is it's lower atmosphere (the luminous part that we conceive as the surface), it's middle atmosphere (the Corona), and it's outer atmosphere (we live in the Sun's outer atmosphere and are even subject to storms).
The actual Sun exists beneath all of that, forging helium out of hydrogen.

That's just my take....
All we ever see is the effects, not the sun itself.

Good point. You could say the same about Jupiter, we see its atmosphere but we never really see whats inside or where the gas becomes metallic under extreme pressure. We will not see what it is like under the glare of the Sun. Good post!
