Hey folks.

Well, I got annoyed with the endless misunderstanding (or willful deceit) of theists.
This thread: ""Why Atheism is being promoted by TPTB triggered this thread.

First off, lets destroy a myth (lie) about what an atheist is. That thread (which is clearly a rant) Starts with this lie:

atheists there is no life after death, it's just this one time that you are here. So "you" want to have as much fun as possible regardless of the consequences for the rest of the world/people. Right?

Bzzt, wrong

Atheism is simply a disbelief in deitys, be it 1 or 100. Thats it...you cannot add anything beyond it as atheism...no, atheists have no united opinion on ghosts, life after death, toppings for pizza, political partys, etc.

Its slightly frustrating to me because here is (generally) my system of beliefs:

1) I believe Aliens may be visiting earth. This comes from evidence and a bit of forward thinking logic
2) I believe in things identified as "Ghosts". This makes little sense to me, and I would dismiss it if not for my own repeated personal experiences I was unable to debunk...I do not however claim factually what a ghost is beyond just a description commonly used to identify the unknown.
3) I am open to the concept of my identity somehow existing after life due to personal family witnessing, and the aforementioned ghost hinting at this, and some other events in life casting doubt on a finality which I won't go in on
4) I totally believe in a concept that we, as people, could one day learn to live eternally as little more than energy, through scientific progression...and with that thought, the ghost/afterlife concept becomes a less hokey and more scientifically curious happenstance (what is the matrix)

Now, each of the 4 minor points above has no book I follow, and is prone to change as more hard information is presented on each one. I use the word belief even though I really don't like that word due to it being associated with hard faith verses open and accepting speculation.

So thats it. a single agnostic atheist that has a "belief" in an afterlife...and the next atheist that posts on here may have absolutely no such belief, or may be fully on board with reincarnation.

Point being, next time you hear someone decide to identify all atheists as something outside of a non-belief in deitys, you can assume one of two things
Either they are completely ignorant of what atheists are, or they are willfully lying for some reason...either way, chances are everything that follows that will be equally saturated in ignorance or deception.

Lastly, I think that there could be a deity...I would be interested in seeing actual solid proof of one (or more)...but I think the very nature of a proper deity is, by its nature, unknowable from our perspective...like an electron shooting around an atom in a skin cell contemplating all of humanity.

Or of course God could simply be a robot from Japan (I wonder if you get 1 robot, or 3 in that box)

Solid proof that physics was explained by God in the Bible. LINK| LINK

Take some time to read and think on this, then watch this video describing the Dirac equation in relation to a 2nd universe mirrored from ours. Consider what is said and your search is over. Your cognitive dissonance is resolved. God is what He says He is and more. It's all about love for His creation.

I have no cognitive dissonance. I am quite comfortable with my understandings and views of the cosmos and nothing appears to really go against one another.

As far as what you point out, what I see is a twisting of words to attempt at making sense of stuff
I won't spend much time on your threadjack attempts, but lets look at its first comments:

In the beginning (TIME), God created the heavens (SPACE) and the earth (Matter). Let there be light (ENERGY).

1) there is no beginning of time, (what happened a second before time began).
2) God created space...how do you create...a void...nothing...
3) Matter is energy, you cannot create matter...then later on create energy...

Sorry, fail...got to rethink that and retwist it to match a current understanding of physics...not even sure if that qualifies as a medieval understanding of physics frankly.

I do slam religion btw...sorry, I just find it intellectually insulting (all of them, not just judism or christianity)...I never mean harm when slamming religion, so don't take it personally...to me, its like bickering about the role of Saruman in the lord of the rings story...a fun debate about fiction.

LOL,

I gotta agree with you.

Once people understand the motives of the powers that be, they will understand that religion is nothing more than a tool to control and limit your beliefs and knowledge.

To keep your consciousness and way of thinking 'inside the box'.

Skepticism isn't frowned on as much these days; perhaps it's because people are starting to realise how valuable it is to discovering truth.

Just stopping by to star n flag ya, and say "good thread homie!".

We have briefly discussed this subject recently and we seem to agree on some things.

Namely- anyone who is not agnostic is fooling themselves.

You can't tell me there is a god or there isn't a god. To even begin going that far with a 100% positive claim is just an intellectually bankrupted attempt at trying to decode one's universe from a standpoint of inflated ego and/or grasping hopes.

You tell me there IS a god without a doubt, I go home thinking "nut case".

You tell me there is NO god and I am dumb for considering it as a possibility, I go home thinking "nut case".

But, I'm a nut case...so I wouldn't care too much what I go home thinking.

two very good points were made in this thread

1 you can be spiritual and atheist. look up sam harris, he talks a lot about meditation and mysticism

2 we are all agnostic, no one can surely know there is a god, so the label agnostic is pretty useless.

Thanks Saturn FX - - for the thread. Thank you - Thank you - Thank you. S&F

Just gonna say: ME TOO!

What I find most annoying is: "You don't understand". Uh Yes! I do.

I think many - probably most people (at least in the US) are still indoctrinated with a God believe growing up.

It is in my search for God - - I became Atheist. When you search for real truth - you find the lies.

EDIT: Yes - - Agnostic/Atheist. No one knows.

atheists there is no life after death

that isn't atheism, it's nihilistic materialism
or Hemingway's Nada philosophy.

it's like these self-styled paragons of virtue just can't help shading/twisting definitions or outright lying, i suppose when you live believing in delusion it's part and parcel of their existence.

this is also what turns most intelligent humans off religion.

many of these hide behind a mantle of "peace and love" however:

"by their acts you shall know them"

witness all those "witch" burnings in Africa same pattern as in Europe, widows with property, kill off the elderly to destroy history, kill off the intelligent, and children "possessed" by the demons Curiosity and Inquiring Mind.

to the religio-poster: "GOD" does not use "words" to communicate, if your god speaks to you using words, you are being made a fool of whether by an outside entity or by yourself.

OHH!! just received a message from the higher planes for you SaturnFX, delivered by a LOLCat

I want to know (and I will ask in every religious/God thread) why dinosaurs aren't mentioned anywhere or ever will be, in the Bible, Koran or any other religion.
I will say it again and again, the earth has physical, rock solid (pun) evidence of their existence. If God had words to say about the creation of Earth why are they missing from the millions of years before Adam and Eve?
Atheism means nothing to me as I have to have knowledge of a God to not believe in it.
Every religious man and woman on this site ignores my questions.
Which tells me one thing....
If it's not in the bible then God is cheating his followers on the truth of this planet.
If he is cheating with the truth then he has fooled his followers.
Or....man 6000 years ago knew nothing of the real creation of this world so made it up to fit their world view.

All religious groups are working towards getting to an afterlife, either spiritually or through enlightenment. If the truth of the beginning of this planets creation is denied them by their God, how can they believe in an afterlife? Also promised by their God

Excellent thread op!

I was considering writing something similar but you wrote it as good as I could have.

For some reason theists think that once you reject religion you become mindless drones that have no individuality, believe in absolutely nothing, and have nothing to live for. When in many cases it is the exact opposite.

Thanks for this thread.

Sussy: See: Dragon, Leviathan, and Bohemoth:

Job 40:15-24

15Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
19He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
20Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
23Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

I think a tail like a tree could be likened to a dino. Just trying to help out in your future debates...eventually they will bring up the dragons and bohemoths

leviathan can be debated as being some giant sea monster...but many suspect they are simply discussing a giant crock...all of this stuff is really debatable...but it goes from a gotcha to a hair splitting frustration.

There are other ways to attack specific parts in the bible...the dino stuff is not as strong as you may be inclined to believe...only reason it isn't checked often is because most self proclaimed christians have probably not even read the bible to begin with. (else they wouldn't be christian arguably
)

Sort of an age old tactic...if someone has a different viewpoint, immediately label them and start turning the viewpoint of the entire person into something not human...degenerates..morally bankrupt rotten etc...

This allows them to remove their morality and either dismiss them entirely, or (historically) allow for empathy free brutality (after all, its not a human, its an atheist..or a witch...or a heathen...or a etc.)..burn em, slaughter em..they are bugs...not humans.

The time progesses on, yet some have passed down the traits of persecution quite well.
Check out the first few paragraphs from the thread I pointed out in the OP. the OP is riddled with minimizing and demonizing an entire segment of the population because of a simple stance on a belief...creating demons out of people.

I think ultimately the role is to find ways to better ourselves as humans..not pass moral judgement based on what invisible sky wizards tell some of us secretly.
Is there a God? hell, I don't know..never met one, never seen a youtube video of one being filmed, but I have seen some starving people in the world..I think that tithe to the catholic church would be better served sending directly to a organization that goes directly over to said countrys to install irrigation and water purifiers...the papal doesn't need more gold crosses.

and ya, your a nutcase

Depends.
Show skepticism in religion and the religious will be up in arms
Show skepticism in UFO and alien matters and the fringe will have fits
Show skepticism in NWO stuff and watch hoards of tin foilers call you a sheep
Show skepticism in offical stories and people will call you a nutty conspiracy theorist.

Its alive and well, and its a good thing to be both skeptical, but also to push a skeptic to explain why he/she is being skeptical..else skepticism just leads to cynicism

they would probably explode if they had an actual atheist on the episode...
I love how the guy gets his concepts of atheist behavior from random forums on the net...lol...

I almost wonder if that is just a joke video, but nobody with a ounce of sanity would choose those glasses...so it must be real

As a theist, I personally believe in everyone's Right to choose their own religious or spiritual beliefs. Provided that those beliefs do not interfere with and/ or violate anyone else's rights. Which is one reason I have a few of the same problems atheists do when discussing anything of a religious nature with certain other theists.. Of course, that's because I don't adhere to any organized religion. I have my own personal spiritual beliefs, which makes it my own personal religion. Just like you have yours...or lack thereof!
But then again, that's the Way it's suppose to be...Freedom of Choice!
However, as far as those who are overly dramatic about their belief that atheism is the same as being in league with the Devil, well...I do my best Not to associate with such narrow-minded people..

hey, its' ok to believe that way. allow me to put forth a premise to explore. I am well educated in hard science/mathematics. once I looked thru an old book on astral projection. I was curious and one afternoon I decided to give ti a try. I lay down for a nap,(lived out in the country), I repeated "peace and love" over and over. I will give you the brief story. I went into a dream state the quickly became an out of body exp. then I found myself in the tunnel/vortex so often described in the near death exp..after that exp. I started having visions and encounters with spirit guides and God himself, yep he exists and I was told that I would bring many to him this way, by explaining how I did it and you can too. I've seen ufos and even had visions of them as well, tink some are here to help, don;t think the greys are here to do this. there are many plains of existence or dimensions. If you do nothing else with the time given to you try to seek the truth, it may not be what you desire or even distasteful, you will know it when you see or hear it. best of luck
