I have been looking for a job, for a LONG while. I just popped into a local pizza place and they said they wear highering. So I filled out a application. I have no job experience and my reference's are a little sketchy, any ways. I was wondering, how long should i wait to give them a call and ask them about the job? (I dont think they are going to call me due to me not having experience) What should I say? I think I am a naturally a awkward person. I have no idea what to say.

How old are you if I may ask?
Also delivering pizza shouldn't necessarily require experience so you might get it
when they call you, and I think they will, just let them know that you are very punctual, a good driver and do not mind a face paced environment.

Good Luck

Well, the longer you leave it...The less chances there are, that your application was successful. So I wouldn't wait more than a couple of days (but that's just me).

I think it's better to give them a call at some point to discuss the job vacancy. Try to think about how you'll phrase your speech beforehand..if you say you are naturally an awkward person? Just be casual & relax when you talk to them, but at the same time, let them know you are serious about the job.

Basically try to persuade them to give you the job, whilst giving all your good points, how how you'd be suited for whatever role the job requires.

But don't worry if you don't get the job either. If at first you don't succeed...

Whenever you are talking to them in written communications make sure that you say hiring as opposed to highering. It will help you in the long run.

Leave it 1 week atfter you dropped off your app(5 days)and then do a follow up call email is better you will seem leess annoying. When get a interview get a haircut (just so it's neat and cool, not past your shoulders if your a guy) get a shirt one that goes with jeans your don't want to be to smart for your interview. Don't use slang and remember to respect you elders. Or the easy way- you could pretend to be English

There's no "right answer" when it comes to employers...however, there are a couple tricks you can try.

Employers generally want enthusiastic people, so show lots of enthusiasm when you go in. I know it's not easy, but think about the most awesome job you could ever have, something you really, really want, and pretend you're applying for that.

Don't forget to make yourself as presentable as possible; a suit might not be appropriate for a pizzeria job interview, but be clean and neat. No t-shirt with slogans or band names; a shirt with a collar is best. Make eye contact and smile when you talk.

Be persistent; I suggest giving them a few days then stop by again. Don't wait for them to call you; again, it shows enthusiasm for the job.

If you are really desperate, you might consider offering to work there for one day free, just to show them how capable you are. If they like you, they can pay you and keep you on, and if they choose not to hire you then at least you have a day of experience you can use for another job application.

I hope some of this is useful to you....Good luck!

Call in one week. Tell them "Hello I am so-and-so and I am inquiring about my application. Are you hiring at this time?"

If they say yes:

"Really? What position?"

Then try to schedual an interview.

If they say no:

"Oh thank you, could you keep my application on file please?"

Then wait 2 to 3 weeks and call back again, rinse repeat.

I am 20. Its funny that you bring up driving skills. We had a snow day hear (it never snows hear) a while back, I was at a red light, stoped, then my car started sliding forward. I slid into another car. My bumper went under theirs and now my hood has a HUGE bow in it. I dont think they saw my car. If i get the job hopefully I can hide my car from them until I can show that its reliable.

Don't call them, go in on a slow day and order some pizza. Eat inside, throw a buck in the tip jar. Be nice, greet them and maybe chat a second if you can. Bring your Dad in with you maybe. (Don't have him talk for you or anything).

Keep calling (once a day only at opening time or when the manager is there) and dropping in casually to see if the position has been filled.

Trust me on this. I am an employer and the one that sticks out in my mind is the one I hire.

If you didn't attach a head shot photo to your resume, drop in casually and bring one to 'Add' to your application. A head shot will get noticed before blank resumes with a bunch of words on paper. This also gets you another 'casual' drop in.

When you get an interview, say 'YES' to any and all questions regarding to what you can do. Wash dishes?...YES!...Mop the floor?...YES!...Work Late?...YES!

Remember, it's only the beginning and not your retirement package, but treat it as if it's the only job on Earth.

Many other ways but being a pizza place, this will do.

Good Luck!

if you really want the job... say you are studying robotics and am planning to make a robot that handles everything thats required in that job (making pizzas?), and need to do the work yourself for awhile to get the programming and build right. Say they can have the robot for free when its finished if they hire you, but that it may take awhile until its finished...

Now you have something other applicants don´t. who can say no to that? to succeed you need to be more and more inventive in this world...

You are absolutely right about this. Everyone I know in HR says that a headshot helps them put a face to the profile and it sticks out much more than resumes without.

Tell them you beat Paperboy sooo many times that now you feel it is only natural to expand your abilities delivering pizza.

As a former food service manager my advice to you is to go there in person every day. Pick a time that isn't busy, after lunch before dinner. Show them physically that you want to work there and want to be on time every day. You don't have to sell yourself as a great worker just prove it with your actions.

Also Do Not Call the place every day.

lol I don't think they will care
But I would do alot of reading though, communication skills are important
You do have quite a few spelling mistakes which is fine though, no biggie

But just for the future

Yup, depends what job it is. Typically a pizza job is not that formal and employees come and go. Always a chance of catching a day when someone doesn't show up for work and...Bingo!

I have owned and still own a business in the food service industry. If I get emails, that just speaks lazy to me. Even a phone call is more proactive. I may not like it at times but guaranteed I will remember that person wants a job. When it's time to hire, I have a voice, a name and a phone number already imprinted on my brain.

Another thing, with little places like that, if you continuously call them (weekly) you can make a joke about the whole thing.

"You ready to hire me yet Fred?"
"No."
"Okay, best wishes, I'll be in touch in the future."

Keep it up on a weekly basis.

For most places, your weekly call will be more reliable than people showing up to their actual shifts. Once they see that you are structured like that, they will eventually say yes as well.

Let's be honest, most people try to get jobs because they wan't a paycheck, not because they want to work.
