Haunted by Television Jingles

Hey everyone,

Every now and then it seems I am haunted by those ole television commercial ''jingles'' or songs. Now, let me tell ya, this will be 30 years later or what not..lol...

Sometimes, all of a sudden some tv commercial will pop into my head without me thinking of it, or in any way being prompted, and I ofttimes wonder "from where does this come?" and " what causes this?". I think it is weird.

I.E." I am stuck on bandaids, cause bandaids stuck on me". popped into my head today! I say., say what? lol...This other one gets me every now and then and it is "Oh I Wish I were an oscar mayer weiner" lol And why this happens I do not know.

Does this ever happen to you with these crazy tv jingles catching you off guard, popping into your head? I'd like to know WHY this happens. Man I must have really been hynotized as a youth!

Was curious and thought this thread would be kind of fun. Does anyone else have this happen? Are you being haunted by those little tv jingles , and they seem to come out of nowhere and for no reason.?..What haunts you lol?


Thought this thread would be kind of neat. Honestly, though, I'd like to know whY they come back to haunt like they do.

SeekerLou they come back to me too but I just roll with it. Those jingles are heard sometimes for years, it becomes ingrained in your psyche.

You can have fun with comm jingles or theme songs from really bad TV shows. While walking through the place of employment in the morning to get your first cup of joe, just whistle quietly or hum some old classic, like the theme from The Brady Bunch, The Monkees, The Banana Splits, etcetera.

Pay attention during the day. You will catch other people absent-mindedly singing, whistling or humming the tune they barely heard that morning. It's pretty funny. Some people freak out over that.

The commercial that I hated the most, which ran for years, was those damn old Toyota comms where it was always a festival with ballons, people jumping in the air and bring their feet up behind them, while we heard "oh what a feeling, Toyota!" S of a B, I'd like to b-slap the shiathead that led that campaign all those years. Hate it with a passion.

I understand as I too randomly start singing jingles to commercials through out the day. Not sure why... just always thought I had a quirky personality. Maybe pay attention to what product you are singing about and if you find yourself buying it or needing it throughout the next few days.

Some truly can be annoyingly haunting huh?

Guess after traveling the same neural pathways for so long they tend to wanna get stuck or go back and repeat. Weird I say!

Oh , and I don't ever eat hotdogs...Also, to mention, there has never been a commercial to influence me to purchase ONE thing that I am aware.

I'm on to 'em ! and their hypnotic ways. lol I just can't shake the jingles

Yeah there's a lot of mind-control and hidden sounds in the mediums

Ya brought back memories .. Green Acres and Gilligan's Island were my major two. I remember all of those you listed lol Gr8 post!

You most certainly have 'em down. That was gr8!. I remember those too but I don't have all of them memorized .. only some.
Let's just hope I don't start singing those now, that you haven't rubbed off on me. . You brainwashed thing you- lolol
