Betty Ford has died!

abcnews.go.com

Betty Ford, wife of former President Gerald Ford and the founder of the Betty Ford Center for substance abuse and addiction, has died at age 93.

In public, she was one of the most visible and outspoken first ladies in history. In private, she triumphed over serious personal adversity.

She lived a long life and done many things over the years, i just felt she deserved a place on these walls for all her many contributions to the USA etc.

A feminist through and through, she helped many people with various addictions, all lessons learnt from her own life problems such as addiction to drink, fought for equal rights, she was a buisness woman, dancer, married to ex-president Gerald Ford and the list goes on.

R.I.P from ATS

This has nothing to do with breaking alternative news.
Unless rehabilitation is a conspiracy.

I think you'll find nobody here cares.

If we wanted to hear about crap like this, we would turn to the MSM.

I have read lots of naff on ATS over the past couple of years with posts not relating to anything surrounding conspiracies, i placed it in alternative breaking news because i couldn't find a Breaking News for ex presidents wife's' section in the forums list. If you don't agree with the placement call a mod, otherwise if you dislike the post move along.
edit on 8-7-2011 by BlackDove because: Because i was furious at the lack of respect the person i was replying too showed for this woman and spelt breaking wrong. : )

You don't report news like this with an exclamation point.

It's Betty Ford.....not Casey Anthony.

Interesting.

I must have misunderstood the meaning of alternative breaking news, my bad, you see when i saw the words 'Alternative breaking news' it just popped into my head that this news I have posted is nothing to do with conspiracies, or the general chatter you see on ATS, and once that thought entered my head i assumed it would be safe to make this post in here. Do forgive me master, i shall retire to my basement with my hot pockets.

You could have added an R.I.P to your post at least.

She had a flake of a husband and a mighty hard life in some interesting ways, but I never heard much negative ever said about Mrs Ford. May she rest in peace. Another member of a fast vanishing era gone forever.

Excellent reply, thank you. This woman although well known for the drug abuse clinic helped push equality rights in the right direction as well as other things. Im sure others on this board support her achivements.

I'm sad about her passing, she has helped many people. I hope that her family is comforted in the knowledge that her efforts have changed the lives of thousands!

Some of you need to put down your XBOX, IPHONE, or DVR remote long enough to research who this woman was, and what she was trying to accomplish.

We should all reflect on her passing and evaluate our own lives.
Talk is cheap, action is the true measure.

R.I.P. Betty Ford - I hope your efforts and legacy will not be forgotten!

You announce that someone has died and all you get is negative comments and criticism...........

People have become really numb and negative these days, let's not add more to that in this thread.

I hope she's moved on to a nice place. R.I.P

How sad for you!

Your post represents the lack of understanding, maturity, and civility that has infected humanity.(not to mention this site!)

I'm glad you have an outlet for YOUR personal issues here on ATS... just know that you will never get the respect you desire by postings like this.

Grow up!

You are so freakin adorable! You assume that by my post, I was talking down about Betty Ford. I did not say anything like "Good!" or "To hell with her!"... I was simply pointing out that celebrity gossip should remain the primary focus of the MSM for the simple minded sheeple to watch and obsess over.

I, like many other people, come to this site mainly for the news people post on this site. News that is often not reported or even suppressed by the MSM.

"News" that someone has died isn't news at all. If I made a post about some community organizer killed in a 7-Eleven, what do you think the reaction be? Flags and "R.I.P.s"?

There is no such thing as rehabilitation. By saying it could be a conspiracy you promote it's existence.

You have committed a thought crime. There will be a knock on your door shortly.

I remember when some of news about the additions she battled first started coming out. As you say, she rose above a lot and the center that has her name has helped a lot of people over the years.

One thing about her I remembered as I was typing.

She kind of changed how addiction was viewed in America. In other words you might have drunk uncle Earl that nobody talked about. You might have the stoned out of their minds Stones that everyone talked about. But, the President's wife having a problem - that kind of brought the issue out of the closet. If it could happen to a President's wife it could happen to most anyone - and more help started being given.

Interesting to note, that on the same day dear Betty Ford, a most precious First Lady, passed on, Atlantis took off today as well, with a form of passing on.

Atlantis, a legendary Island that sank into the ocean.

Atlantis, a space shuttle, that soars into the skies above.

Betty Ford Former First Lady of the U.S.A. a possible Atlantean Hyperborean?

Is this a forshadow of:

America, a legendary Nation that falls?

Makes one wonder.

Nevertheless, thank you so much for sharing this news. Much appreciated.

You, my dear, seem to be missing the fundamental points of my post.....
#1. Death is hard for any family.
#2. Betty Ford did some great things during her life.
#3. We should ALL consider HER life and contributions to our society, and determine if we're all just "talk".
#4. Where have YOU, or I, made that type of difference on the lives of those we meet?

While posting your OPINION on ATS gives YOU the "ability" to express all the things YOU may think or fear, some of us actually come here with the intent of conversing with intelligent adults.

Sheeple? ....Really?... I doubt that you can place that comment into the perspective of what YOU have done VS. the actions of the Betty Ford!

We will all wait for the account of your life, and the comments of the nation when you die.
