Mayans correctly predicted the end of (News of) the World!!!

I think we can all relax now!
So it has come to pass in this year 2011, that the prophesy foretold by the Mayans and other cultures appears to have come to pass.
Thankfully, we seem to have made a monumental error in our interpretation. The future that was seen for us, was in fact the end of the popular Newspaper, and not this planet that we have grown so accustomed to!

There are in fact at least three possibilities here to consider:-
(a) The Mayans and Hoppy and other primitive cultures made the mistake, since they could not conceive of the nature of modern media.
(2) This has all happened before, and will happen again. Like a game of Chinese whispers this story has survived through the ages, and its true meaning has been distorted.

One thing is for sure, we can all forget about Planet Elenin now. Its over folks,

What "other cultures"?

The Hoppi prophecy only dates back to the 70s and is a modern fabrication

I signed in just to say how little sense this thread makes. The OP clearly has no historical facts to back this outrageous claim up.

Nothing has come to pass except the CME's predicted by the mayans AND they are still coming and on 12-21-12 it will be the CME to end all.

The News of the World and its untimely demise was also apparently a sacrifice made by the Great media God Murdoch in order to secure his BSKYB foothold in heaven.

I have heard that a new prophecy proclaims that the sun will rise again and that we will have 2 suns on the horizon.

I wonder if that was also a Mayan prophecy.
