29 palms stay from 1976 to 1982...looking for immunized children that were there.

I am starting a search for those who were children at 29 palms during the years of 1976 to 1982. I have some questions of memories I have and am wondering if others have had the same “memories”.

Also my records were lost three times by the third immunization needed so I was actually immunized 3 times.

One of the memories include vaccinations with silver guns. The whole school was lined up and taken to the gym for this to occur. I was never in the service, however it seems like how the soldiers are lined up for the beginning of basic/boot camp for immunizations.

There were a few other things as well. I know, to give you a time line of when I was there, it actually snowed, like a powder snow and they shut down the base because of this.

But on a serious note, good luck with that search, it sounds VERY interesting. What do they shoot with silver guns aside from the thing that made mutants, non-mutants in x-men..?

ETA: we're they soldiers? Or were they just lined up like so? Coulda been a military experiment conducted on you at the time.

I'm not from 29 palms. I just wanted to let you know that I remember being lined up at school and shot with the silver gun. I was just joking about it the other day and how did they get a way with it back then.

I was stationed in 29 palms for over 2 years.
I got to know the locals really well out there.

Sorry to say...but that place is a craphole.
We call it the stumps.

For the most part, military and civilians tend to keep themselves seperated out there and do not mingle as much as one would think. The Marines are not liked over there because we stole all the towns women. hahahaha

As for the dates, I was out there in 00-02.
So I cant help ya.
I dont think you will get many people from this site who are aware of the area.
But good luck anyways.

I have nothing to do with 29 palms but I remember in middle school (nc public education system) there were lineup for vaccinations. I believe measles, maybe. It was done with a pneumatic needle (pushed with air). I refused to have these vaccination done at school (personal discomfort) so I was not in the lineup, I did have most of my vaccination done however, just at the doctors office. It was always weird to me to have these mass vaccinations.

Well, my roomie says she has met others who were born from 71 to the 84's that were immunized by these "guns" however they have scars from them. Like a star burst. I have no scars. I remember the immunizations and I remember my mom getting upset about the loss of records 3 times. That is why they stick out to me. Hard to forget being escorted by two MP's with guns to be honest.

I was excorted by 2 mps at the time, to a nurse as far as I knew she was. She was wearing a nurses outfit. I had the escort because of an incident with a dr at an earlier time.

I am wondering though to be honest what they put in me after finding out 29 Palms is one of the places of experimental things for protection as far as immunizations and such.

I hope there are others out there to speak.

That is ok on the post, thanks for the reply. I know 29 Palms was a crap hole and I remember it was so weird. We were like in a world of our own. We never went to town really. I don't even remember what town was near there to be honest.

It was like we were all just living on an island. Your words ring true of how I remember it. Thanks though even if you were not there in the right time space.

Not sure what kind of needle that is. Will have to look it up. I really did not have a choice in the matter from what I remember of the time. I do understand the discomfort of the mass immunizations.

Hi Ainge - I wasn't in 29 Palms but was in the Army from 89 - 97. The silver guns you mention are widely used in the military as you pointed out already. However, I did want to provide a point of clarification, the 'Starburst Scar' you mentioned is actually a small pox vaccine. This is not done with the gun, it's done by hand by taking a needle similar to a sewing needle and dipping it in the liquid diluted small pox and jabbing you in the arm 3-4 times w/it by hand. Small Pox by it's nature is about 5 times, (if not more), worse than Chicken Pox and the sores leave behind scars. The 'Starburst Scar' (typically on the shoulder) is WIDELY seen on any person that grew up in the 50's / 60's. (My mother for example). Years / Years later, the vaccine died out as the cure was discovered. However, the Military still vaccinates for it to this day due to 3rd world countries you COULD be sent to where small pox is still a fact of life.

Hope this helps clear up the 'starburst scar' mystery.

Me too. It was first grade (I think) in the years given above. Exactly that way: lined up, silver gun. It was regular public school.

No starburst. For some reason I think it was polio vaccine.
Although it may have been an MMR. My records for my final polio and MMR were missing when I went to college: weren't part of my medical records, so I had to get them again. My mother was sure that I had everything, so it would make sense that if it was given at school that was why it hadn't made it into my records.

I know that starburst is small pox. I also know that I have never been vaccinated for small pox. (Though according to wiki the gun was used for that vaccine as well). I am just trying to remember what it was for. It wasn't treated as out of the ordinary and it was ALL of us. There were no forms for permission or anything that I rember.

I don't even know what 29 palms is, but I have some odd scool memories. I took an IQ test in 3rd grade that I don't remember. My mother says she didn't know about it. I was put into GEM, Gifted Educational Module, classes after that and they wanted to promote the whole group in that program from 3rd to 5th grade but none of the parents agreed. I started 6th grade in honors classes and started using drugs at the start of the year so I ended up being dropped from honors. The vice principal told me in the 7th grade that I had a genius IQ and said she wasn't supposed to tell me but I was very smart and I was throwing it away. I failed 6th through 8th grade, though they promoted me anyway and I failed my first freshmen year in high school after being expelled for selling drugs. Ended up graduating a year late after rehab for methamphetamines. From the 6th grade until I graduated I was in the counselors office or principals office 2 or 3 times a week but I was never punished for anything other than the drug charges. My actions had no consequences. When I went back to get my school records this year it took them 3 days to find them, they weren't where they should have been, and I believe they have been purged. I was told all notes from counsellors, teachers, etc would be intact. There is nothing but grades. Also, out of 5 years in high school, I am only in one yearbook. Maybe there's nothing to it. Just seems a bit odd to me.

I have never been in the military or around the military growing up. I am one who does remember the "gun". Don't remember when or what for. It is an odd memory though, almost as if it were not real or like it was in a dream.

Yes, I have the starburst on my left upper arm. It's faded over the years but still there. Now I can't remember which vaccine gave me that starburst. I don't recall it from school. I've always thought I got it at birth. I was born in Albuquerque, NM and relocated to Richmond, VA in 1967. Then when I moved back to NM in 1968 I got sick alot and finally had my tonsils taken out.

My ex was up at Richardson during 91-95. He did desert training at 29 Palms. I remember it hot as all get out.

Now on the small pox vaccine, I may have gotten it but not the way you are talking about. I don’t have any scars, I do remember the guns you guys are talking about. I did not know that was nation wide as far as that went. Of course the Military can explain the records being lost. They do it all the time after all right?

Sorry about the long delay in a response. I have been detained at the hospital as of late. I am very aware of how important these vaccines are, just they need to be important to the people who are giving them too and perhaps the old ones are not so bad after all.

Yes, very odd about the records. I can understand the Military after having lived with them in my life for so long. They are famous for loosing paperwork and ordering things that cost a fortune that are so unneeded. Anyway, govt spending you know.

I would say they are still getting away with things, right before our eyes. Lack of testing, rushing to get things out, and people as guinea pigs (spelling). Making people purposely sick to practice medicine on them. See some of my other post so you know what I mean.
