That is too cool.

Wait, I thought we were broke?

If you scroll to the bottom of the article it shows that the sky cloud computer costing US taxpayers 2.7 billion does not work. I'm sure there's plenty other defunct billion dollar projects out there that your hard earned pays for.

I saw that as well, equally sad.

your right it did spread like wildfire!!!

ya know what I find most exciting about this kind of tech...
not it's battle fields app's but a new hope for paraplegics and the disabled...
think what it would mean to them to be able to run and walk again... to reach out and hold their kids or simply walk into a bar and order a cold one...

well this type of tech only gets smaller and smaller with each passing year... who knows maybe one day we can buy one out of the local walmart

Yep, I agree.
I hope it could be purchased by the average person. That would be sweet.

great, a new tool for the murder men. Soon they'll be able to lug 20mm cannons around on foot thanks to the robotics, then we can express deliver freedom and wal mart to all the peoples of the world!

Oh boo-hoo.
Kind of expected the anti-military crowd to chime in faster then this.
Oh well.

Hmm i wonder how long untill they are able to hook it up to the sub conscious since our sub conscious knows what we want to do 8-10 sec before we think of it.

any one else feel nervous by the source saying this has uses for swat teams......what would a swat team need to carry 200 extra pounds for and how long do most swat situations last these days? on the military side this is pretty cool and even has some promising civilian applications so hopefully it does well in the battle feild trials

They may be doing design work in Massachusets, but the Mountains in the pictures are not.

Looks like Southwest or Westcoast to me.

I wouldn't be surprised it that's not near Palmdale,California.

I could be wrong.

This will never happen. This is just an excuse for some general to spend millions if not billions of taxes. There are tons of examples of the military just blowing money and not following thru. Example the Comanche helicopter, has been around for 30 years. Billions of dollars went into this chopper and they were never put into production.

Another example was a suit of armor, I think it was called the "Scorpion Suit". If I remember correctly it was a suit made of kevlar but was like a (body)divers suit and it had sensors all over it and could cure minor wounds. Just a waste of tax payers hard earned cash! Violence/War is never the answer and only leads to more problems.

But shouldn't we be spending more time on research to help heal the world instead of better ways to kill? Imagine what similar kinds of technology could do to help the disabled/elderly etc.

This is a really great find. I think what some here are passing by is the medical application. The article did say that in future it might be able to help people walk again who have lost that ability. Many technologies that we enjoy today began with a military application.

one of its possible side effects as stated by the link would be that it could help paralized people walk again so i guess it might just help the sick/disabled heck give them to the elderly make there daily lives easyer might help people with arthritis as its a self supoorting suit least thats what i got out of it

Great technology has so many purposes from construction, to Mil, to research going with the handicapped, combine this with the another tech forget it's name, but allow a person to move a limb just by thinking and this could possibly be a huge leap forward for men and women with disabilities. Thank you for sharing it with us.

SWAT standoffs normally last now about 8-10 hours, with some going into 24-30 hours.
This could be used by SWAT team members to set up perimeters around an area, Comm equipment or entry teams.

There are alot of spin offs from Military research, such as this device.
It has the potential to aid those that have physical handicaps.
