Wrong William Cooper.

Probably dobbed in by one of his own customers because he refused to keep giving him credit. That happens a lot.

Although that Bill Cooper was also shot and killed by a cop in his home...

Nice stereotyping there. I know over a dozen individuals who are in that same age group that go to bed late at night and wake up late. Not everyone goes to bed at the same time no matter what age they are.

*laughs... exactly, my mom is 70, goes to bed around 3 in the morning, sleeps till noon, then takes a nap around 5 in the evening. She lives with me, so I know her sleeping schedule pretty well.

This war on drugs needs to end. It needed to end when the first person was "murdered" by police under the guise of protecting and serving us in the name of war on drugs.

Harm None

I have a feeling these cops know exactly what they're after in these no knock raids. I doubt the old man was that close to his gun for that quick of a reaction, and even before hearing "POLICE, GET DOWN" he fires at them? I call bull# on this. It's unofficial procedure to plant weapons and drugs if they # up and kill somebody. make the suspect look worse then they do. There should not be such an organized and weaponized team of people paid on tax dollars to execute or imprison those who use and sell drugs. They say the mob is dead. No, they just climbed the ladder. There are bigger targets to shoot for; corporate criminals. The damage from corporate crimes effect way more people then the DEA could ever hope drugs do, and if these LEO's had an ounce of intelligence in the first place they'd realize there's more pilfering to be done when they're dealing with the wealthy. They would be dealing with forfeited Lamborghinis or the Benz or both, hell, take the whole mansion and auction it for revenue. Yet instead they're breaking into homes and killing innocent people. Lets hope the next story we hear of a no knock raid, someone pulls out the shotgun and takes off a few heads before getting taken down; That'll make them think twice about whether they want to announce their presence the next time they want to execute someone over pain medication.

i am 1000 percent in agreement with you, plus this is not a war on drugs.its a war of corporation on civilians.its even making that separation of cops and civilians more clear to whom ever has eyes to see it for what it is.one thing is for sure, its a war,if your best friend choose to fight with your enemy against you,is he still your friend?we must stop being blind and grow up.

he should have just let them push his face into HIS floor...a knee or two on his 70 year old neck and back would have been much better than defending oneself from the precious never wrong state.

Nothing you have posted on this story makes any sense other than to argue about non-existent circumstances and provoke. I would caution all members that these sights have likely been monitored for a while looking for factors of concern. What you say about personal planning to protect yourself can be acted on by these entities. Aka, boobytrap laws. What is going on with the city government and it's enforcers in Quartszide Az is perfect example.

What is the point of such an entrance?

Were the cops hoping to catch him in the act?

Did they think they would find a journal detailing his pill-sales?

Did he have a legit prescription? If so -- what were they hoping to find by charging in like this?

Wouldn't the cause of justice and public safety be better served by meeting the old man at the grocery store, informing him of the accusations against him and advising him to knock it off?

What possible rationalization could a judge possibly have for even approving such a warrant?

In order:

To justify the added expense of an ERT/SWAT Team

No

Possible but most likely no

Yes and I would imagine evidence of sales of the scripts such as a bottle filled the day before that is now empty

Yes

No clue how the officer who swore out the warrant articulated what the old man was up to so no real way to find out

We Only have the word of the cops.
that He fired first.
But I bet they just shot him.
then found and used his gun.
or used the backup gun they carry.
and planted it on him.
I hope some one checks to see if he did own a gun.
I wonder is a relative gave the tip.
and said he had a gun.
now they get the inheritance.
Murder by Cop!

You must be one of those *cringe*... Liberals. You guys are getting easier and easier to spot.

He wasn't walking around the house armed, it was stated he usually slept late with a gun beside his bed. The police kicking in his door probably woke him up, and being asleep for the "POLICE" announcement, didn't know they were cops. Half blind and scared, he open fire on the intruders.

It's nice to know a group of heavily armed cops could kick in my door right now and kill me if a pissed off ex-girlfriend made an anonymous tip about alleged "drug deals" happening in my home.

Hey now, stereotype much? Most of my friends would consider me liberal yet I'm ex army(10th mountain div) and can guarantee I'm more well armed than any police that would be executing a no knock warrant on my house. Looks like you need to take your liberal detector in for service.

who cares if he was an alleged drug dealer innocent until proven guilty is how it works in this county you have to prove it to lock them up

This poor guy was murdered, plain and simple, by murderers with badges. I'd bet my LIFE that at least one or two
of these wannabe commando cops were violent psychopaths who were just itching to kill someone.

The law enforcement system in this country is so pathetic. The War on Drugs is an epic failure, and this old man being killed in his home without warning is just one of the thousands of examples of the violence that this joke of a war has brought upon society.

I'm not trying to derail the thread here, but check out the American murder rates throughout our history:
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/a477c22b5108.jpg[/atsimg] Funny how it peaks during the times that our government is supposedly protecting us from the big bad illegal drugs that kill around 15,000 annually. It's also funny that they killed an old man for selling the very legal painkillers that kill more people than all illegal drugs combined (32,000 annually). It's even funnier that after murdering this old man for defending himself, they probably went down to the bar and drank some alcohol (which kills 100,000 annually), smoked some cigarettes (which kill 400,000 annually), and talked about how the community is that much safer with him off the streets.

One can recognize the level of desensitization that the general population now exhibits when reading the responses to the OP.

This Police State action is OK because he was accused of selling the same drugs as the CVS down the street. OR Well the Police had a search warrant and he did shoot at them. So that makes it OK.

Well I say B…S…

We can not allow ourselves to be brainwashed to thinking these type of actions are proper and justified.

Let just start by accepting at face value the story the Police submit as true for argument sake.

First if they have a search warrant, have the old man inside his house, you don’t need to kick the door down.(as reported by witness).
A 69 year old man can not escape. They got him cornered, where is going to go.

But the Steroid head Police Strom Troopers got to show they are in charge, so these manly men kick down this old man’s door and storm in in force. By the Police’s own action is what escalated this into a deadly incident. So what if the old man refused to open his door at first, it does not matter he wasn’t going to get away.

I can hear some of you know, “Well, He would destroy the evidence”. Again BS. The Police should have evidence enough to convict with out any drugs found at the time of arrest in order to get a PROPER Warrant. But not in our day , Judges no longer require evidence of a crime to be presented to issue a Warrant. Just call them up on the phone and they will e-mail you a warrant just for the asking. Before or After the door is kicked down.

Our Nation is lost. Our Constitution has been forgotten, by the very citizens we trusted to preserve it.

i can't wait til cops bust in on an off duty cop and he opens fire thinking it is a break in.

Then they kill their own man, and try to spin it off as something wrong with him or something.....

It's never until it happens to your own people do most people wake up and realize how ignorant they have been.

The tragedy here, besides Cooper's death, is that Cooper wasn' quicker on the draw and didn't have better aim. This won't stop happening until the SS realizes that they are more likely to suffer casualties than to inflict them.

Its plain obvious the police are being increasingly militarised. There must be a reason for it.
This old guy cuold just as easily have been fingered by some pill freak because he WOULDNT sell any of his pills.
There is no reason that a warrant should be issued on the hearsay of one informant, without further investigation taking place before any action is undertaken to raid the joint. The warrant was issued under false pretenses or tthe jude erred in granting it in the first place.
If indeed an investigation of the old guy did result in this raid then i guess its the luck of the draw. but if there was just one persons word to get that warrant then that is flawed and should never be allowed.
Further breaches of proper proceedure not withstanding.....
