Pressure on Murdoch over new hacking allegation

www.reuters.com

(Reuters) - British Prime Minister David Cameron condemned the alleged hacking of a murdered schoolgirl's voicemail by the News of the World, part of Rupert Murdoch's media empire, as the scandal closed in on a top News Corp executive and Murdoch protegee (sic). That the prime minister should find time to comment while on a visit to troops in Afghanistan was a measure of the uproar at home over suggestions that the tabloid might have hampered police and added to the torment of the family of a 13-year-old, abducted in 2002, whose killer was convicted only last month. Among those facing new qu

At a time when these media moguls will disgustingly upskirt someone or publish peephole photo stories of innocent women in hotels in order to sell their rag, comes a story like this. Thankfully, the other papers pick this up and divulge the black ops of the these nefarious faux news services. Here is the story of a 13 year old girl, who easily could have been our daughter, grand daughter, cousin or friend, that was abducted and murdered by a sicko in England. This rag, in order to satiate their greed for money, invaded the privacy of this child, and may have imperiled the prosecution of the murder.
This all adds insult and injury to the grievous loss of the father and mother, who must again relive this terrible act because of the greed of one Rupert Murdoch.

Murdoch has made journalism a travesty.
Of course he is not alone...so many of the news outlets have put money first,
and journalism last.

However, in my opinion, he is one of the worst.
We could hardly consider this noted outlet a true news outlet, however
it seems there is no limit to the depths this man will stoop to make a buck.
Disgusting...

Yes, all of them. I am appalled by this news. If only the people knew the truth about Fox News.

British media have said a newspaper investigator not only listened in to messages left on the teenager's phone after she went missing but may also have deleted some to make space for more -- potentially misleading police and giving false hope to her family that she was still alive and at liberty. www.reuters.com...

I actually see this story and associated allegations as a great 'starting point' in the UK to break the shackles......

We all talk on here about TPTB and for a long time I have thought that the media empires of some are TOO powerful....

They dominate the Public perception on a daily basis....
They FEED the public with a vile diet of information which WE apparently WANT to know along as we pay them for it ....
They hold power and sway over our politicans whom are so scared of losing their Profile or having their private lives discussed in the public realm that you have to suspect what shannanigans goes on behind closed doors....!

The Media is TPTB and specifically a SELECT FEW who control it all...............

It is disgusting and unaaceptable that these people may have AFFECTED this poor innocent girl Milly and the others from the Soham murders just to get a scoop and sell more papers......... IT is a crime punishable by prison for all those concerned......

AND MAYBE this is a time when people can rise back up and take this POWER away from TPTB !

Vile. But will anyone in real power in the Murdoch empire be held accountable? Never. It is dreamily naive every time any of us say, "Maybe this will be the thing that...." gets us riled to take action....or gets a real oligarch in real trouble...or wakes us up from our apathy....or whatever. The truth is, nothing can do this until we are all literally starving and living on the street with nothing else to lose. Until then, we'll just, in truth, think, "There but for the grace of God, fate or whatever, go I." Until then, we'll think, in truth, "At least I have a roof over my head and food in my belly, others have it much worse so I should be thankful."

Excepting maybe some token fine, nothing will happen to Murdoch or his empire, not for this, not for anything.

I would have to agree with you that TPTB are the media. I would also include the banksters as well.

This story is terrible but I think focus needs to be maintained. Luckily I believe Govt. and MSM will be able to do so, I'll just leave a reminder here though

Hacking is bad, the internet needs securing. Unfettered, uncensored internet access for all is not a realistic situation. Do not be side-swiped by anyone suggesting that the requirement here is determined focus on the extent of state corruption here and suggestions that this is the 'tip of the iceberg' in regards to police/politician awareness/involvement and any deliberate manipulation of public understanding.

Once the immediate furore has died down the legacy of this story should not be limited to the petty aspects of individual responsibilities, culpability etc. but the broader and deeper dangers of the irresponsible public attitude toward freedom of information and the required security focused restrictions essential to limit the freedom of those who cannot be trusted to access sources of information they may use for nefarious purposes.

*Short version: Applause for the sentiment here but I have a sinking feeling that after the sacrifice of whatever lamb is deemed expendable this whole thing will be turned around as per. Still, let's try eh?

LOL.... He's best buds with all these people, only sacked one of the main guys in all this, Andy Coulson, when the public actually found out.... Cameron is friends with Rebekah Brooks, one of the other people at the centre of this scandal, and is pals with many others.

The politicians are scared of the Murdoch empire and the police are on the payroll....

I really hope this is the beginning of the end for this kind of corruption and control of the media by the Murdoch empire.... I really, really do.

Hopefully it wont just be brushed under the rug again.

Shame it takes hacking into a murdered girls phone and deleting her messages to get anything done.

And now all other child murder cases, dating back to 2000 will be looked at.

And also now the families of dead service men and women have had their phones hacked...

Just sickening...

The public are pretty pissed of about this.

Something really should be done this time, let's hope it is.

a little optimism please, there may be hope.

i don't drink, but for years, i've promised myself. that when his empire goes down, i'm getting drunk to celebrate.

the morning news was that his stock was down by 5% and there is another scandal involving spying on the families of soldiers killed in wars.

lets hope the scandals snowball and make him history.

we had a good local radio station, until he came along.
mow it's just endless hours of insane talking heads.

the damage this man did to humanity is on a biblical scale.

If you think about the Murdoch media they are so self righteous, so quick to hold a moral position on anything from drugs to sex education, brainwashing a large section of the British population with beliefs that are of detriment to society but good for paper sales. I hope the Murdoch reading masses wake up a little and stop parroting the arguments pushed in their rags, moral bastions they certainly aint
