There is quite a few people at the pro-Gaddafi rally...

I wish our media was not so corrupt and could actually give us the real deal of what is going on there.

The only thing we know for sure is that we are bombing them.

I have not really kept up on this matter too much, but to see a rally like this surprises me a bit.

Anyway, it's food for thought.

Any thoughts?

I've been following the Libyan conflict for some time now. Ever since U.S. got bitch slapped with the release of the Lockerbie Bomber. Now I'm not any Political Science Major or a Government Official, just an average person that's been watching everything. I just find it ironic that they have military operations going on in Somalia (where they lost a Black Hawk in the '90s in a botched raid) Libya (where the PanAm Bomber originated from and where he was released back to) and Iraq (Which country we unsucessfully invaded also in the '90s) Afghanistan (where C.I.A. trained the Mujihadeen to fight the Soviets). It just seems that they've had this Region Change idea in their mind for quite some time and that video you posted shows a glimpse of what the Big Media branches don't want you to see... or else it starts to fall apart.

Some of the people that were against Ghadafi a few months ago have probably cut bait.

They realize that no one is going to save them. NATO is not going to save them. The UN is not going to save them. What would you do if you were stuck in their position?

That being said, numbers don't lie. And the number of people there appears to be extremely high.

Could the Civil War there be drawing to an end?

You mean 'Alleged' Civil War,

Similar to the 'Alleged Weapons Of Mass Destruction'

the lockerbomber was a frame up

Lockerbie, 20 years on: Behind the frame up of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi

links.org.au...
which is why he was released..his appeal would have been a disaster for the west and its sanctions and its outright theft of Libyan assets...
like wmds in Iraq...
the gulf of Tonkin
just another load

you'll note
Gadahffi has armed all these people
unlike the US where they are aiming to TAKE your guns...

Webster Tarply's first hand account of the rally will be up (the "On Demand " button) till next saturday..
his account of visiting sites of nato bombed houses where whole families were killed and there are NO signs of a reason to kill the civillians is heartbreaking...

Well yes, alleged Civil War. Except this time there were at least two sides, and people shooting at each other.

Unlike the WMD's where there was....zero evidence.

We are in times where War is the most profitable of businesses. Now with France and Germany supplying weapons to the Rebels and with the rest of NATO covering Air Support, this is an already heavily invested conflict with no end in sight. Why in the world has NATO been so keen on Ghadaffi's removal completely from the country, especially when there is a mass support for him? Don't get me wrong, I've heard the stories of libyan soldiers raping woman and people being bombed by Ghadaffi's forces. But once again, it's not hard to secure the enemy's equipment and conduct DisInformation Operations by dressing up as the opposing forces to conduct Terrorism. I was all for the uprising in the first place, but the more I watch, the more questions I have. For example, even for air support. It was at the beginning of the conflict and there were scattered reports of planes firing on and bombing the population and when a plane was shot down, it was a Rebel flown plane. Number 1) Why does NATO have to be involved if they can handle their own air space? and Number 2) It's kind of ironic that there was bombings and strafing runs on the Libyan people and when there was a plane shot down, it was a Rebel captured plane. Now take from that what you will, but that's my own conclusion. These are the type of things that put questions in my mind.

Also, at the beginning of the war, there were Libyan pilots that had defected. It was first reported that the planes they had flown landed in Malta, then shortly after another story came out and said that the pilots ejected their planes, therefore destroying them before the defection. So then, why the sudden story change?

yeah i think they don't want american "democracy", they don't want the ethnic liquidation that is on progress, they don't want to be terrified nights & days by "rebels" (let's use the proper word : psychopaths) armed by france & uk.

it seems they prefer what they had :

The dismissed Russian Ambassador to Libya, Vladimir Chamov, when answering a half-question and half-statement of the interviewer whether Gaddafi had oppressed his citizens, said: "What oppression are you talking about? Libyans were lavishly granted twenty-year interest-free credits for construction of their houses, a liter of gasoline cost about 10 cents, food did not cost anything at all, and a new South Korean KIA jeep could be bought for a mere $ 7,500. That country is no more..." (1)

What are other facts and figures that we know about Libya and its leader?

* Libya’s GDP per capita is $ 14,192.

* For each family member the state pays a $ 1,000 yearly subsidy.

* Unemployed are paid 730 $ monthly.

* The salary of a hospital nurse is $ 1,000.

* For every newborn $ 7,000 is paid .

* Newly weds are donated $ 64,000 to buy an apartment.

* To open a private business one gets a one-time financial aid of 20 000 $.

* Large taxes and duties are prohibited.

* Education and medicine are free.

* Education and Internships abroad are at government expense.

* There are chain stores for large families with symbolic prices for basic foodstuffs.

* For the sale of products past their expiry date large fines are levied, in some cases detention by the police is foreseen.

* A number of pharmacies have free dispensing.

* Counterfeiting medication is considered a major crime.

* No rental payments.

* No payment for electricity for the population.

* The sale and use of alcohol is prohibited, "prohibition" is a law.

* Loans for buying a car and an apartment are given at no interest.

* Real estate services are prohibited.

* If an individual decides to buy a car up to 50% of the price is paid by the state, to militia guards it donates 65% of the price.

* Gasoline is cheaper than water. A liter of gasoline costs $ 0.14. (2) The profits from oil sale were spent on the population welfare and rising life standards.

* Gaddafi has amassed more than 143 tons of gold. He planned to introduced the dollar-free zone use a gold dinar instead of currency in settlements with other countries. (3)

* In Libya, much money is spent on irrigation by the country's groundwater, the amount of which is about 100 annual runoffs of the Nile. By its scale, this water project has earned itself the name of “the Eighth Wonder of the World." It provides 5-million cubic meters of water a day across the desert, greatly increasing the irrigated area. 4,000 kilometers of pipes are buried deep into the ground to secure them from the heat. All that was needed for the project was carried out mostly by Libya herself. Nothing was bought in the First World, which has never helped developing countries to rise from a supine position, and if it does, then with the further enslavement of the receiving country. With this water project, Libya was able to start a real "green revolution", in the literal sense, that would solve a lot of problems with food in Africa. And most importantly, it would ensure stability and economic independence. At one time, Gaddafi said that Libya's water project would be "the strongest response to America, which accuses Libya of supporting terrorism." (4)

* In 2010 Gaddafi made a motion to the UN General Assembly to investigate the circumstances of the US and NATO aggression against Iraq and bring to justice those guilty of mass human rights abuse. He also submitted a draft resolution on the liability of former colonial states to their former colonies for the exploitation during the colonial period, and on compensation payments thereupon. (5)

It's sad to see that you don't value others opinions. For example, I HAVE friends that are from Libya and in fact disagree with what's going on over there, however, I have some that toally agree. It's a beautiful thing that we are able to form our own opinions, is it not? I guess it has to do with what you've experienced living in that region. One set thing that me and my friends can conclude on, is that it wasn't Ghadaffi himself that was causing harsh times it was in fact the contrary prior to NATO involvement, it's the greed of certain individuals that are in the country. For example, I can say that North America is filled with Violent Police Officers and Sociopathic Soldiers, but I'd be completely 100% wrong to judge everybody based on the actions of a few. Now I'm not saying Ghadaffi is a good man, but I'm not saying the contrary either because I do not have enough information and have not met him personally to form such a personal opinion based upon what I've recieved through personal and news sources.

Is there any proof that this actaully happened on the 1st of July 2011?

If this is Libyan state TV this could be from years ago.

Is there any other source that this event took place?

Another Video

Here is another video of Green Square in Tripoli from July 1st. It is a little bit longer.

In regards to Johny, the date is on this video, if that means anything.

Years ago ? Obama is president 10 years? 20 years?

Some Translation of Gaddafi’s speech:

"Gaddafi challenges Sarkozy, Cameron and Obama to switch on their TVs and watch the crowds.
He says:
You target our houses… we could do the same…
But he says:
Let’s not do that but let’s watch the crowds…
The oil is for Libya.
Libya is ours…
You hired mercenaries…
Those rebels are no different from who betrayed Libyan during the Italian invasion."

that video has the french flag in it too so it looks the same but the source is Libya news. The symbol at the bottom of the screen is the same as the utube video.

can't trust anything on Libya news.

they keep all foreign jounalists locked up in hotels and only let them out when they are escorted to specific areas. did they bring any foreign jornalists to film these scenes. If not , why not?

Israel and Indian newspapers

The threats were announced on Friday through loudspeakers during one of the biggest demonstrations in recent troublesome months, as thousands of Gaddafi supporters gathered in Tripoli’s main square to show that the Libyan leader still boasts serious support from his people. The demonstrators stretched out a several-hundred-meter green Libyan flag that snaked above the crowd.
