Eventually are star will implode, and nothing will be left of our solar system. We need to put more focus on the survival of humankind. The universe is a very dangerous place for our species, in order for us to live out in that vast space we will have to make great advances in technology. We will need to be able to genetically change our selves so we can breath poisonous gases that would normally kill us. We need to have the technology for traveling through space at a fast pace, so we would have to learn how to make it possible for our bodies to with stand more the then 3gs of pressure. Another problem we will need to figure out is where could we possibly go to when our earth/mars is destroyed? I believe we have the ability to ensure our survival, but if we can become true star travelers we will have reached our ultimate goal. It would be awesome to be part of a species that saw the universe to its end, do you agree?

I'm sure there is quit a few more things that we would need to over come just hasn't came to mind yet

I've often thought about that: Is there an ultimate goal for humanity? Does humanity continue to progress until it reaches a point at which it has finally arrived, whatever that may be. I don't think that that is the case. There is probably no end to creation and discovery. We coukd live for another billion years and not come close to the end. What a mind-blowing thought!

Easily the best part of your OP, and that's saying a lot...

So, it seems that your are genuinely concerned for human kind - awesome...as most of us are concerned with only ourselves and any outside variables that make it even easier to get over on the system.

Truth is though, if we find a way to get past our prejudices, petty needs, narcissism, and gluttony, we may attain a utopian environment, but even our own ancestors will miss out, as paradigm shifts come in long intervals around these neck of the woods.

there is too much hate and greed in this world I just wish people wouldn't be so self centered. There is a much broader picture that human kind as a whole needs to understand!

luckily we have 1000's if not millions of years to figure this out

I'm surprised no one knows about this. There is an actual plan for humanity, and it is self productive, meaning that people are not really in control over it. It's called trans humanism, and it answers the problems you have proposed. moreover, it will probably occur 5 billion years before our sun dies ( a generation from now). That means that humanity, or Post humanity will probably have already traveled out far beyond sol.

If the ultimate goal is to survive science first has it in mind that we must survive being human initially, and move away from being human as a whole. Only in transcending biology will we conquer our physical limitations, like death, age, sickness, mental inability. This is all around the corner, and assuming software continues to progress at an exponential rate you can expect to see the first truly trans humans with in the next 30 years and the first post humans in as little as 50 or 60.

You may find it interesting just how extreme they are willing to go with it.

I don't think Humans will ever be allowed off the planet. To violent, self centered, greedy, and not very smart to be involved in constant warfare instead of improving the species.

There are some who think that Earth is a prison planet.

If we stay alive till our sun dies, we should be so advanced we could do whatever we want.
If we still wanna stay on our little rock we’ll just fix our star, or jump our entire planet to a new one. If you could see into the far future I think it would blow you mind. Our advancement in the last hundred years will see as Childs play.
Stretch your imagination to the limit, if physics says it’s possible we’ll do it.

i do believe we have the power to do anything we want, but we need to make huge advancements in our technology. The only thing im actually worried about is war... and if we cant come to terms of peace with every human race eventually all the red buttons will be pushed, no one will be left.

This is simple,

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

Humanity rules over all!

Er...once we get past ourselves that is.

Guess what DVD I just popped in?

Conquering ourselves is the problem. Though the strife among the worlds religions and the reluctance to move forward into greater realms of science is the linchpin of evolution of the human race. The point of flux in diversion of the species as a whole.
Some people say that the elites want to kill us off, and become like gods. This is not far from reality, and moreover the changes that would take place would be certainly in keeping with the methods of evolutionary development.
Humans no longer have to wait on the pace of evolution to potentially increase or detract from human development. Now we have the ability to change things ourselves and make every move forward one that improves the human race over all.

No doubt, with genetic engineering and the exponential increases in technology, humans like you and me will soon be a thing of the past, and for this new breed of human, nothing will be beyond their limits. Einstein would seem like a mentally handicapped 5 year old to them. Now, I don't think humans reaching that stage is guaranteed, as there are natural disasters that could happen before then that extinct the human race, and also getting to that point without destroying ourselves through technology will be a major feat to overcome. But if those obstacles are cleared, things we can't even conceive of today will become possible.

The numbers of increase in human potential are mind boggling. We are talking about orders of magnitude in the trillions or more.
People say, "Whats in the trillions or more?" The answer to that is Human and computer processing power. If you can start thinking at the speed of light and limiting the flaws in current human cognitive ability the line of progress sky rockets from that point.
Once people start altering their mental abilities, people like Einstein will be so pathetic as to make you cry. Thats not to take away from his credits.

Personally I will never go for human altering nor will I volunteer to be ascended to anything more than what my cell phone and computer currently give me. I will never go for being assimilated, jacked in, wired up, loaded down or anything like that. I do not accept the human gift of godhood personally and never will.

That being said, if I happen to live long enough to see the first computer come to life which is quite possible, I don't know if it will give me a choice. A computer or computers that are a trillion times more intelligent than all the humans collectively and throughout all of history, can program itself, can replicate itself and improve upon each additional version, can look like anything, can be anywhere, can predict the future and every move you will make, and it wants your obedience. No thanks.. no thanks..

The very second word misspelled, fabulous.

I'd not worry about the sun ballooning into a red giant. PRETTY SURE all humans will be dead by then. We've had advanced tech for only 60-100 years (depending what you call "advanced"), have barely averted nuclear war several times, and the data shows that the very existence of our civilization will heat the earth enough to kill all of us. It's really unlikely any humans will even survive this millenium, let alone a million or even billion years. Pretty sure Earth will see several more "top of the food chain" species rise to civilizations and then fall, just like us, from the same problems inherent in any civilization, before the sun becomes an issue.

Look around at your fellow humans and ask if you think we are worthy of spreading out into space. Hint -- we aren't. The horrible ugliness of our species, which isn't seen in any given individual, is readily apparent when looking at the whole.

Transcend time and space.....become one with the universe and beyond.
That's what I think humanity should go at.
Reality is that everyone just want to become rich and immortal.

Everything has a teleos purpose. When the Family arrive the upgrade happens. Those who pass earth's tests will be in eutopian existences. Love, caring for others, trying to be conscious in the moment and pay attention to those around us, and care for those in need is how we progress.

no I used the wrong word not misspelled* so don't try and correct me with a incorrect statement. on top of that u misspelled millennium.. id feel like an idiot too if i were you. now as far as your theory on us not "worthy" of being in space is just crazy, I think you're basing your opinions off of your actions as a human.. so maybe YOU aren't worthy. Who is to say that when the time comes for us to actually leave this planet the post humans will act like us or be anything similar? Also another question is who is to say what is worthy of being in space? a freaking asteroid can roam it so why couldn't i? oh i forgot because ur mister downer and don't wanna keep an open mind or think positive. The reason i posted this was because i felt like this is what OUR goal should be as humans instead of killing each other off and worrying about petty things like greed, wealth, and materialistic things. Who's with me?
but your wrong our earth will give us the time needed to venture out into space
