The Perfect Storm

I am fascinated with the Halloween Storm of 1991, aka The Perfect Storm. I am not much of a weather guru, so if somebody could shed some light on the subject it'd be much appreciated. I've taken a gander at the radar photos of the storms, but it may as well be written in Greek.

Have any similar storms happened since the halloween storm of 1991, or was it some sort of fluke? Do you think these weather patterns are the telltale signs of things to come?
