Just to eliminate as much crazy speculation as possible, we receive a critical alert on the RAID array on our primary database. One of the solid state drives was reporting errors, and the tech team advised an immediate replacement (as it could ultimately corrupt data).

We ran our backups.

Ensured the database replication server was up to date.

They replaced the hard drive.

RAID rebuilt just fine, no loss of data, no need to restore from backups.

Crisis averted.

I have to ask: You're using an SSD raid for a database partition/drive store? (Or talking OS drive? Would think the writing limitations would cause issues long term.)

It's a custom RAID-10 build with SSD drives.

Just wanted to ask, has the redirect page you created, the one where it's blacked out silhouettes in suits. Has that got anything to do with Anonymous? Because it kinda looks like there is some connection or a nod in their direction.

Seriously... we've recently discovered an issue with one of the servers critical to delivering ATS.

For now, the discussion board section of the site is offline.

No, we haven't been hacked, we have a bad hard drive. Technicians are working on it.

The bad hardware has been identified and will soon be replaced.



Of course, no matter what we post here, or say after the fact, will stop some people from speculating that nefarious powers have forced us offline to carefully remove threads that offend the global elite.

Glad the site is up and running again, but what is a RAID 10? I've only ever heard of RAID 0-5 and in RAID 5 a single hard drive failure won't cause any problems with the site other than maybe alerting someone a HDD was bad.

ETA: Ahh you mean RAID 1+0. Everything should still work the same though since there is at least another copy of the content on another drive. Carry on.

ATS was not okay, but now it is okay. That last part is the most important, the part where it is okay.

What I find slightly embarrassing is how many times I hit refresh to see if the site was back up yet.

Not that I didn't have anything else to do. Of course not. It's not like an obsession or anything.

Glad all is well ... I woke up early to let the dog out and got on for a few minutes and ATS was down with the MIB pic (pretty cool, by the way) and I went back to bed and had a weird dream that I was talking to someone about moving to Langley, VA.

SO, I am so glad you posted that video again. I remember when you first made it, my hubby and I LAUGHED so hard - and from that point on, whenever there seems to be a problem, one of us screams, "Did you hit REFRESH"!?!?!? Thanks for the laugh. Again.

I thought it was a good opportunity to check out chat...that seemed to still be going.

Then I closed IE for a minute to build a pot of coffee and when I returned I couldn't log-in...so lost chat too.
