You can slag off British food, but it is taking a Brit to highlight how unhealthy American school kids food is. Eating pizza and drinking Chocolate milk for breakfast will not produce a generation of winners, but a generation of diabetics and the obese.

Have you seen American food, Jam AND meat on the same plate???? I rest my case.

What the heck does that mean??? English food is comprable to their weather...Dull and gray

Nah, English food is actually quite nice really. They have really nice steak and ale pies and the fries (chips) are the best I've ever had. They also have battered sauages...I'd never had anything like that before I came here, but they are tasty.

Also, the weather here has been very nice the last couple weeks or so. I haven't seen much dull or grayness for ages really.

Where did you get the impresion that everyone in the UK wants to move to USA?? I've never shown any desire to move to the USA, and know very few people who do. There are at least 5 other countries i would prefer to move too. Not bashing your country, but i can assure you, not many people in the UK would like to move to the USA.

That's just what Englishpeople say aloud when other people can hear in order to save face and appear to be English patriots. In reality, each and every English citizen harbors a secret deep desire to move to America and be accepted as an American. But i don't blame you guys for it. I mean, if I wasn't an American, I would want to move to America too.

Sometimes the urge to move to America is so strong it completely ruins Englishpeople's happiness and well-being. All day long all they think about is dreaming to save up enough money to move to America, but all kinds of obstacles get in the way... so sad. I wish you could all move here, but... alas, I don't have enough money to help you all make the move.
edit on 3-7-2011 by IAmAnAlien because: hi

LOL, that really is funny, I really really hope the sarcasm is turned on full!! But hey, I'm British born and I can assure you that if I dream of moving anywhere else (if I could afford it), it's actually to Tortola..... a British Virgin Isle

If anything, the UK should celebrate "Dependence Day". That should be April 30, the day Hitler killed himself.

Why 'Dependence Day"? Because without the help of the USA, the UK most likely would have lost the war, and so were dependent on the USA for their freedom.

Yeah, I just said that.

This thread has been mostly good-natured so I don't know why you think it is appropriate to introduce your arrogant " we won the war " crap.

A couple of facts : You didn't get into the war to help us out, you were bombed into it Dec 1941. At that point we had already been at war with Germany for over 2 years and had been fighting alone since the fall of France in June 1940. And if we had been invaded a Nazi dominated europe would have been just great for the US wouldn't it ?

I'm sorry for being so hard on England and the assorted other countries in the UK region. To make it up to you guys, the USA will send an aid shipment consisting of millions of packages of toothbrushes and toothpaste, since I am pretty sure England does not sell those items in any of its stores. In addition, the USA will send another shipment of millions of razors so English women can shave their legs. Apology accepted?

In reality, the War was just a sidenote in history, as was the War of Independance, to the British. Of very little concern at all

It doesn't surprise that some would try to play down it's significance

It was ONLY the first successful out right rebellion against the Empire.

Without French and Spanish help in the latter, and if we hadn't been fighting a continental War for the past 10 years for the former, I think the US may have been a very short lived story entirely.

Sure, Sure.

And they say we Americans like to rewrite history when we lose a war. The French were helpful but it was Washington's Army with French assistance and naval blockade which encircled your General Cornwallis

Over the last 2 weeks thier store radio station named ASDA FM which broadcasts to all stores and online at asda.com has been running adverts to celebrate Independence Day, sure it is in effect to advertise thier new range of American brands. Hersheys, RC Cola and so on. The principal just seems terribly off the mark.

"Celebrate Independence Day"

Independence Day is to celebrate independence from the British empire.

Thoughts?

Well when you figure how much money the UK owes the USA for the various oil disasters caused on American soil by British Oil companies and tricking us into world war one....

Might as well make the UK the 51st State since Puerto Rico and Israel are dragging their feet over joining the Union(Technically under the US constitution any country can join the Union, even the whole world).

Hi there, the BP disaster is a matter for a company called BP. They are not a public company (that was British Petroleum which no longer exists), so 'the UK' as such has no need to pay, the private company called BP however does.

Wow- Do you live in a small circle of information! Tons of Americans are ashamed of "us" - We are not so great! We are not so perfect. We are not so strong --not anymore at least!

We are so deep in debt that it would only take the large nations of the world to stop buying and using US dollar as main currency then WE FALL HARD overnight!

We are worlds DRUG CENTER --- There likely would be not much of "illegal drugs" or trade or suffering and deaths if it was not for USA using drugs! We are hooked on that, frivolity, cheap, "me", "now" - who cares about tomorrow or others --- (you even declared all others "inferior") Reality will soon hit home as we fall just as Roman Empire, Aztecs, Attila the Hun, USSR, and even jolly old England) ---- They all thought they were invincible too! Ha Ha on them, ha ha on us! ---

American Egos are so big - Heart is so small!

So you are saying Britain wasn't concerned about getting over run by the Nazi's?

Then explain why in July 1940 (long before the Americans got involved) Britain was already shipping her Gold reserves to Canada?

Well, Nice comparison, but why not look at baseball, since that is a sport played in other countries, like soccer. American football is not an international sport, so it would be expected that people playing it in the US would not hail from other countries.

No, I didn't say that. I was commenting on your post in that it sounds like America won world war 2 singlehandedly.

First, it is football not American football.

The comparison was provided to show that if my mom played soccer she would be the biggest person on the team. 5'9 146 hahaha.

Point is, england is lame. Soccer is a bunch of frail little boys running around playing slapstick. It is a joke.

Thats football for you, lol. Over the years the change has been drastic, esspecialy since the birth of the premier league in the early 90's.

Business first, football second. Thats how the football leagues now think in the sport.

Damm, i hope i havent started an argument regarding the rightful sport to be named football *facepalm*

To be fair to you, its hard to argue against that, nothing is more anoying than players throwing themselves on the ground. Which is why they've brought it to be a bookable offence, which also had a huge impact on how italian players play

But with american football, have you seen rugby? Now thats a game. Quite simular to american football, apart from no padding/helmets, and canne pass forwards. There are also quite a few different rules but they're the main ones that are easy to notice and explaine without having to write an essay about it. I recormend it to american football fans. Great to play too.

U crazy? The Americans could have beat the Germans single handedly. EASILY.

It's called a NUCLEAR BOMB. Remember that little thing we invented 1945? Umm....yeah. We could have wiped Berlin of the friggin' map (for a few years) like we did Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
