I am all for tax equality. I prefer that we all pay zero taxes and that government survive on usage fees and the like. If I cannot get that, then every single person in the country should pay the exact same percentage of their income for every single dollar with no loopholes for anybody for any reason.

Well beezer, we can disagree civilly. Which I choose to do. This incompatibility of economic ideology won't be solved unless a divine being comes down and makes a say so, or a race of advanced beings casually tells us what type of economic system they have....but I do believe some divines have come and gone, and if I'm right they are not so hip on the idea of amassing wealth...not at all.

Anyways, good show sir. I agree to disagree. I hope that you have a good day.

LOL, split hairs much?

It is called being factual. You said half the electorate pays no taxes. That is not true and you failed to show that you even understood how what you posted did nothing to address that.

They owe no tax, and any taxes that were withheld from their check will be refunded to them. Additionally, they will also get money given to them confiscated from other Americans.

That is not what your link says. I pay taxes everyday and have never gotten a full refund in my life. Besides, an actual full refund would include the interest I should have earned on the money the government withheld for no good reason. Your link does not back your claim. Sorry I asked you to prove what you wrote.

Clinton raised taxes just a little and had a surplus Bush came in office gave out the tax breaks and everything started to go down hill.

Only if you're using GDP......

Raise taxes for the rich to 100%, middle class at 95%, and the poor at 90% and our economy would look beyond amazing. Although we would all live in misery.

Not necessarily 'misery'. Depends on what those taxes go towards. Not saying I would want that level of taxation, but most my income now goes to basic necessities goes to housing food medicine. Is it really that big of a difference if it passes through my hands before going to my bank/landlord? Perhaps, perhaps not. But for those with large amounts of income beyond those basic necessities, I suppose those levels of taxation might be quite unacceptable. What generally astounds and amazes me is the people in my position who support the levels of taxation that benefit not them, but those of considerably larger levels of income.

Why don't we end the facade, and just admit that unless we all give our corporate masters all they want, they wont let us enjoy the scraps from their table. And we all know that without those scraps, we'd all starve, right...?

I find it hard to believe Obama in anything. I think he will make cuts for the middle class and those in need. The rich will get waivers. This guy is a flagrant liar.

Ya people on here in this thread are jumping in to early in the bandwagon,Obama is a puppet, he wont any of it what he has promised that he will do?

He lied closing the Cuban Gitom Prison Bay, Troops are still in iraq, obama is going to war unconstitutionally, supporting the terrorists in east libya?

I keep reading that raising the highest bracket will
Initiate doom, you guys know who you are. So one of you
Explain the 50's, a period when this country had an unreasonable
90% bracket and a strong middle class???

This must be at least one hundred times I have issued this challenge.
Someone swing and pit me in the ground

I use this example because the "wisdom" of doom presented here did not
Happen in the 50's, a strong economy happened, home ownership happened.

Misoir, my friend, look at the taxation rate prior to the depression,
Look at the similar approach and results of modernity. You might
Have become a bit ridgid by now, but can't you see the correlation

All these ideas are crap if they destroy a countries economy

frankly

These ideas of worshiping the rich only concentrates wealth and if it
Is starting to destroy the economy I think any reasonable person should except
Trying a different approach. People are willing to consider trimming spending
Based upon conservative idealism, however conservatives are unwilling to
Compromise when it comes to achieving revenue. That is a childish and amature
Way to deal with a budget and partnership.

I'm simply asking for Equality, sir. That is all, tax equality. If we can't have that, then something is wrong. There is no reason why these people should walk around like kings free of the tax burden that the have nots share. There is no reason for this insanity at all. This fight has been going on every since humans decided to band together to form communities. I feel like this generation, its coming to an end.

For now, I ask for tax equality, that is all. I don't see how one could possibly find issue with that.

also, check my second post in the thread about the "going over seas" thing. These companies might as well be enemies of America if they decide to take that route. One. Then you'd agree to a flat tax. Like 7% for everyone. No exemptions. Period. If you made 12,000 or 12 million, you pay 7%.
Two. If you start making it illegal for companies to do business how they want, then kiss freedom goodbye.

No, a flat tax won't do... A person making 12,000 is on the egde
Of becoming homeless, which makes it hard to hold a job which
Initiates a bad cycle. This blatently obvious circumstance is substantial
And your idea misses... Second the lowest bracket is tax at 15% FYI

For fun can you provide ATS some figures that validate that a
7% flat tax will cover expenditures?

Oh and kiss freedom goodbye???
It was a perfectly legitimate business to buy and sell people, make them
Work or throw them into an arena with lions. These sweeping talking points
Of doom are just bad. The business of selling irradiated cookies oh my!

It

When our government outlaws lobbiests, creates term limits, then I still won't agree with raing anyone's taxes.
Why should cigarettes be taxed 5 times over any other product? It is illegal. Go charge everyone with a state tax hike. And yeah, I smoke. I hope McD's dollar menu goes to $10's. Charge them also? Right?

It's ironic that the same corporate jet tax breaks that Obama is whining about were given to them by Obama's own Stimulus Package (reauthorized). And if rescinded, would save a whopping $3billion.

Obama and the OP are playing the perennial 'class warfare' game. Fast and loose with the facts. How many times has Obama and his cronies told us that the world will end if we do not pass Obamacare or pass the Stimulus Bill or bail out GM or AIG or....

I'm tired of all the Chicken Little stories. We do not have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. Howz about we get rid of his crony czars? The number of federal employees is now over 2.15 million with no end in sight - let's get rid of at least half of them.

And let's go flat tax.

He's coming after your mortgage deduction and your pensions, folks. He's a full fledged socialist.

Oh, and one more thing - it is NOT the gov's money. It's our money.

no it's the federal reserves money. they print it, they issue it and they own it. you just work for it.

its funny that the "people" or america for that matter doesn't even own it's own currency but has to buy it from the federal reserve at an interest rate.

it's about time america cuts out the middle man and stops letting bankers dictate the economy for american citizens.

Well then let's just start trading in gold, how about that? And you speak of America with contempt, but do not say where you are from.

"Every country has the government it deserves" - Joseph de Maistre

If you want to strip the minority of majority power then please, be my guest. But do not strip them of their rights at the same time. Two wrongs have never made a right.

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi

Their rights? We're stripping them of their rights to have tax breaks? Why don't I have the right to a tax break?

The trouble with quoting Ghandi is that it is completely out of context and irrelevant. In reality, there's a few people who have collected all the eyes by going around and taking them from the average person in any way possible. They don't just have two eyes, they have big piles of eyeballs, while the rest of the country is having to feel their way around in the dark.

No, the taxes need to be raised for the right reasons. The spending needs to stop for the wrong junk. You nailed it with corporate welfare. BUt that's not enough. Sure, we should stop giving them handouts and now they need to start paying for the roads and infrastructure they use (and for the lack of employment they create).

The wars are unsustainable (and immoral, but I guess we're only talking the economic side for now) and they are the biggest money drain at the moment. Not public education, not my nana's social security check, not pensions (that are prenegotiated savings, i.e., the person's money already, not some special bonus) for teachers, not medicare or medicaid or foodstamps. None of that is draining this economy. There is one thing, and one thing only that is draining the funds of this nation, and that is the energy-defense privatization coup that occurred some time before 9/11, but at least became apparent to me after that.

Clinton raised taxes just a little and had a surplus Bush came in office gave out the tax breaks and everything started to go down hill.

That is a fairly ignorant assessment. Bush inherited a PROJECTED surplus and a recession. Remember It was Clinton's NAFTA+ the dot.com bubble that caused the recession Bush inherited from Clinton. Then 9/11 happened and the economy was put on life support(lower tax rate+lower interest rates).

Then Obama, Acorn and company took advantage of the artificially low interest rates and harassed the bankers into giving home loans to single mothers, illegal immigrants and families close to the poverty line. This is all part of the left's "crashing the system" motif.

Added to that you had fuel price manipulation(speculators)+ a major disaster(Katrina)+ two war's + a whole lot of real-estate agents and loan officers over valuing homes(that were made mostly with cheap/illegal labor, cheap wood and drywall) and singing off on loans that they shouldn't have. And then on top of all that you had house flippers. We aren't talking about people buying derelict homes and sinking 10,000$ in, most of these flippers buy a home, invest anywhere from 500$-3,000$ and turn around and sell it for way more then they paid+ invested in it, again an action that over-inflated the value of homes.

And then Agent of destruction Obama get's elected President by promising massive shovel ready jobs to repair America's infrastructure. Agent of Destruction Obama talks about intentionally discriminating against "white" males. But then the Female Supremacist's organization NOW pay's their favorite agent a visit. After which Obama scraps the original stimulus plan and instead steers the money to female dominated industries such as education and healthcare. With the remainder finding it's way to the Bankers and Unions.

So suffice to stay that feminist's intentionally caused this recession to hurt America's male citizens in order to create their "perfect" gynocracy. Because every action taken since the 90's has been to shaft America's male citizens in both education and employment-Fact!.

But since female dominated industries are mostly service sector(they may strengthen a strong economy, but add no immediate or long term wealth to society[only capable of preventing wealth loss really]) so now they are getting cut because the stimulus didn't work and the feminist, female dominated educational/healthcare system is demanding more money right when America's male citizens are in even dire straights.

The only job's Agent of Destruction Obama has created for Male American Citizens, is in the prison industrial complex. Either as guards or as slaves for green industry oops, err meant job's for prison inmates...

I think it was under Bush that congressmen and women were told there would be martial law if the bank bailout didn't happen.

NPR made a good case today. If the August deadline isn't reached, they'll just stop paying for something. The Republicans are slick! They know that if Obama does not pay for soldiers or social security, he will be effected greatly in the polls (unless the Republicans receive the blame for stalling) and if the economy tanks, even better.

I'm just freaking pissed off that a group of blowhards jockeying for power are deciding that life-devastating events may be politically expedient for them. In a sick, sad, sardonic way, I hope it does happen. I hope the economy goes to pot in August and there are breadlines and riots and all the other crap. I'm sick of the anxiety of waiting for the bad thing that is always looming and always averted. Let's just get it over with sooner rather than later and then we can consider our options for an out. **Caveat, a third-world fascist dictatorship is of course one of the options. But hey, bright side: most of Latin America made it out of those to some extent for a segment of their population!
