Palestinian death toll in Gaza reaches 1000
So far, 1,010 Palestinians have been killed, among them 315 children and 95 women, Dr Moawiya Hassanein, the head of Gaza's medical emergency services, told the Guardian. The number of injured after 19 days of fighting stood at 4,700, he said.
Counting casualties of Gaza War
The Al Mazen Centre says it only confirms a death after it has interviewed individual families, and methodically checked names, ages and addresses. It has told the BBC that 1,268 people were killed, among them 288 children and 103 women. Dr Issam Younis, the Director of Al Mazen, said his field workers were documenting every death. "We investigate every case, we meet their families and relatives to have details from the first source and we verify every case." Dr Younis said 85% of those killed were not combatants, whom he defined as those taking up arms against Israeli troops. "When a policeman is bombed on his morning march, he is not a combatant," he said. Many in Israel would contest that definition. The Al Mazen Centre is currently investigating 43 other cases, some of which reportedly involve the deaths of minors.
During World War I, in the winter of 1914, on the battlefields of Flanders, one of the most unusual events in all of human history took place. The Germans had been in a fierce battle with the British and French. Both sides were dug in, safe in muddy, man-made trenches six to eight feet deep that seemed to stretch forever. All of a sudden, German troops began to put small Christmas trees, lit with candles, outside of their trenches. Then, they began to sing songs. Across the way, in the "no man's land" between them, came songs from the British and French troops. Incredibly, many of the Germans, who had worked in England before the war, were able to speak good enough English to propose a "Christmas" truce. The British and French troops, all along the miles of trenches, accepted. In a few places, allied troops fired at the Germans as they climbed out of their trenches. But the Germans were persistent and Christmas would be celebrated even under the threat of impending death. According to Stanley Weintraub, who wrote about this event in his book, Silent Night, "signboards arose up and down the trenches in a variety of shapes. They were usually in English, or - from the Germans - in fractured English. Rightly, the Germans assumed that the other side could not read traditional gothic lettering, and that few English understood spoken German. 'YOU NO FIGHT, WE NO FIGHT' was the most frequently employed German message. Some British units improvised 'MERRY CHRISTMAS' banners and waited for a response. More placards on both sides popped up." A spontaneous truce resulted. Soldiers left their trenches, meeting in the middle to shake hands. The first order of business was to bury the dead who had been previously unreachable because of the conflict. Then, they exchanged gifts. Chocolate cake, cognac, postcards, newspapers, tobacco. In a few places, along the trenches, soldiers exchanged rifles for soccer balls and began to play games. It didn't last forever. In fact, some of the generals didn't like it at all and commanded their troops to resume shooting at each other. After all, they were in a war. Soldiers eventually did resume shooting at each other. But only after, in a number of cases, a few days of wasting rounds of ammunition shooting at stars in the sky instead of soldiers in the opposing army across the field. For a few precious moments there was peace on earth good will toward men.

Wow! Shocking indeed! I couldn’t imagine this happening in my neighborhood. How sad is it that the IDF has to stop and check school children like this because they have been used to carry out suicide bombings.
Ding ding ding ding..... You won the most ignorant post this morning.

And what country was here before 1948? British empire. And local Arab population were ok with that. Before that there was Turkish empire. And local Arab population were ok with that. Shall we continue into past? Punch line will be the same. Local Arab/Greek population were ok with that.
if tomorrow the UN decided that your country now belongs to someone else.
So this is lame excuse. It is all about keeping Jews out of here, Palestinians do not interest Arab leaders since there was no Palestine between 1948-1967, and even some of Palestinian leaders them self do not speak about creating Palestine, only about removing Israel.edit on 28-6-2011 by ZeroKnowledge because: (no reason given)
Please, lets continue into the past. Allow me. Here are some maps of Palestine. Know why the UK called it the "Palestine Royal Commission"? Because the report reflected the name of the country i.e. Palestine.

Sure and all children are trying to blow everything up. What they need are snipers on rooftops picking these SOB's off for treating children this way.

That's completely acceptable because the Palestinians are known to strap bombs on their children. So it must be routine that Israeli soldiers inspect children within a given proximity and make certain that they haven't had a bomb strapped to them by their parents.
If anyone is to blame here...it's the Palestinians themselves.
And yes...I will always support Israel.
israel is the worlds bully
remember the Gaza and LEbanon war ?? 5000 killed mostly civilians and 20000 wounded on the israelis side .. 15 killed (10 by friendly fire) so its ok to kill others but not okay when someone retaliate because he lost his entire familly

Ben81, math is precise science. It is not painting map green as one wishes.
So Palestinians killed in Gaza war
1417
Lebanese killed in Second Lebanon war
1220
Sum is grim 2637.
Not 5000.
Israelis killed in Gaza war - 13. 4 indeed of friendly fire.
Israelis killed in Second Lebanon war - 163
It is 176, Ben81.
Not 15.
Hope it helps in your search for truth.
