You are right, it's not a long term solution. I'm just doing my best to help people "get by" until the site owner has a chance to look into the code.

I'm afraid the "temp work around" I posted is all I can offer. Really the only person capable of fixing this is SO.

Sorry bud....

If anyone else is unable to upload an avatar send me the image and I will upload it to my media space for you so that you can get a working avatar.

I really appreciate the help...please understand that...you've offered more by far than I have received anywhere else...so thank you, really!

Patience is not a big attribute for me and when people stir around the problem or ignore it completely it gets my feathers roughed up...I'm working on that...I just know there are a lot of people having the same problem and the solution might be awhile in coming...and thats fine...let's just say that then instead of playing the guessing and blaming game.

Either way, your help and honesty is appreciated and speaks volumes!

I will now stand by patiently and wait for the site owner to have a look.

Cheers Jerry.

I'll see if I can contact SO about the issue. I know he's busy as heck though....

Guess this has something to do with firefox...maybe just the latest 5.0 release?

Hi, Kinglizard.

This is what I thought because I could log in with IE but not FF 5. It turned out all I had to do was to clear the cache in Firefox. I can now log in and upload pictures without difficulties.

PS: for the person who says you need your original password to log in, this is incorrect. I'm using a reset password for both ATS and Media Center; it works fine.

Hope that helps.

I looked into this yesterday, and no matter which test account and browser combination I use, I'm unable to reproduce the problem. (sorry) If I can't see it happening, it's impossible to troubleshoot.

My best advice is to try updating your password in your tools: change password
Even if you only change it to your current password.

The two systems (ATS & Media) are using two different technologies and two different log-ins (there's a plan to fix that, but resources to do so are limited). But the password change form changes your password in both systems.

edit to add:

Never assume I see threads such as this.

I've tried those methods. None of which are working.

The only way I can reproduce the symptoms is to manually alter the password of one of my test ATS accounts within the Media system admin panel. But as soon as I use the change password on ATS, and log into the Media system, all is well, on a long-list of browsers on both Mac and PC.

Okay Skeptic...I have again changed my password as you have suggested...the problem is still occuring.

If you are having trouble replicating the issue maybe try logging in using my log-in name and my password...the duplicate the actions that I detailed in my earlier threads on the issue and you will have it replicated, and thus possibly be able to trouble shoot it from there.

I would be happy to U2U you my pass word and log-in...if you don't already have access to them...hopefully this will be of some help as you are trouble shooting the issue.

I understand the difficulty if you are unable to replicate it...so maybe using my information will help you to do just that...replicate it.

Would you like to give that a go?

boondock-saint had some luck yesterday using the method I asked him to try. Go to the media home and then access your pictures under the account... my pictures drop down menu on the top right of the page.

That is right where I go and it sends me back to the log-in screen...now I do have luck if I go strait to the upload and upload some photo (any random one) then it will let me partially access my account.

The screen shot you are showing above and the "my pictures" tab that you are illustrating is the one that sends me right back to the log-in screen.

So although I can access it by uploading a photo...you can imagine what a pain in the butt that is...not that it is a terrible inconvience...but it is a bit of a pain.

I'll grab a screen shot of the upload feature that does allow me some access...brb.

Sorry the image is huge...I did not size it...I'll fix that in a bit...anyway here is where I am allowed some access but the picture tab you are refering to takes me back to the log-in screen.

Edit: Sized the screen shot down a little...

Same problem here and as I mentioned, it's been ongoing issue since Dec.'ish last year...

Strange that it cannot be replicated by some, I wonder where the hiccup is occurring? It's happening to me in both Windows and Linux with Firefox and Chromium. In IE, it does seem to be working at the moment, but I don't have access to Windows/IE very often so don't really have a comment on that.

I feel your pain...it has been going on for awhile for me also...hopefully we can get some of it worked out here with Skeptic on-board...provided I can give him the information correctly. It is not a browser problem in my case since I use IE and have since the early days...so I am with you thinking it could just be some sort of hiccup in the system.

I made a very minor change in the way the Media site sets its cookie. Let me know if that helps.

I am afraid not yet anyway...should the change have taken effect already? If so then it has not helped in my case anyway.

Try logging out of the media center, then logging back in.

Also try deleting the specific media center cookies:
domain: .abovetopsecret.com --- cookie: username
domain: .abovetopsecret.com --- cookie: password
and any other media.abovetopsecret.com cookie

Seems that it has helped (in my case) and hopefully it's stable fix.

Thanks SO

I don't mean to be a pain...but it is still not working.

I have three different computers in the house...my wifes (who has never been on ATS), my daughters (who never has been on ATS), and mine...all three are doing the same thing.

Two different browsers in the three computers...and two different versions of Windows...and still no luck.

I have cleared my cookies a few dozen times now and reset my password a couple of times (actually just had a new one sent to my email again)... and still no go.

I don't know what to say...seems to have fixed it for some at the moment...but mine is still amiss.

Sorry...I just don't know what else it could be.

That will not chance the Media Center password.

Setting a new ATS password here is the only way to specifically define your own easy-to-remember password -AND- reset the Media Center password at the same time.

Yes I understand that...I followed the link when you posted it earlier and changed my password then...but as an additional effort I have followed the link and change it again.

Logged out...logged back in...cleared cookies...cleared cookies again...ran ATF cleaner (another cookie deleting program)...signed in with new password...and right back to the same problem.

I am sending you my log-in and password...if you can get it to work on your end...then I am giving up.
