The Peoria incident is a PROVEN hoax.

Some residents, unaware of the media attention, confirmed Sunday there was a crowd in the street Friday, but said that race was not involved. A police report on the incident does not even mention the word race.

Police responded to Thrush on Friday night on a report of fireworks and fighting but found neither of those activities occurring, a police report stated. The group dispersed in multiple directions when an officer arrived. No one was arrested.

Khalid Davis, who lives on Thrush, said the group blocked a few cars but was very orderly. He witnessed no fights and called the racist allegations a "heck of an exaggeration."

"If I heard them screaming any such thing, I would have called police immediately," said Davis, 62.

Peoria City Councilwoman Barbara Van Auken said Sunday she is outraged by Wilkinson's allegations.

Van Auken, who has known Wilkinson for six years, said he's had a history of "wildly exaggerating" reports, many of them involving race. And police are well aware of it.

"We have some very gullible new council members who were dumb enough to believe him," she said, declining to name names.

Van Auken said there are few, if any, racial tensions in the neighborhood where the incident occurred.

"It's a national embarrassment now," she said.

it must be tough to live in a materialistic reality TV based culture, and have nothing. I am eeking out a middle class living, get collections calls every month, but I have 2 cars, a roof, and movie money on the weekends

they are using strength in numbers. I am NOT condoning the actions, but if I was 15, poor and full of rage against the machine, I could probably get talked into doing this

The topic and point is the new trend of "flash mobs" hitting stores and stealing.....

This topic has nothing to do with riots and how idiots of any race, nationality, etc act.
That is a whole 'nother topic....completely different topic....

So, again.....flash mobs of teens overtaking retailers to steal....making them criminals. This is a new trend that is sweeping across the country.....being caught on film....the criminals are caught on film at most crime scenes. The facts and evidence speak for itself....

While the unemployment rate among white teens stands at 24.7 percent, the unemployment rate for black teenagers is a whooping 47.7.

I wont justify stealing in any way. But wheres the Jobs for these youths? Wheres the Jobs for AMERICA? What do you have to look forward to if YOU ARE a black teen? 47 percent. Thats JUST ridiculous.

i hope to NEVER meet you in real life Being as your from New York I seriously doubt that you will, New Yorkers have been known to disappear around here. I work in the worst parts of Birmingham every day. I remodel rental houses mostly section eight houses. These young blacks have been taught that they are owed something. The black churches and organizations such as the naacp teach them how to work the system to get more and more for free..cause we have been oppressed...lol give me a break. A black person nowadays has a better chance at getting a civil service job or a government job than does a white man. Here all that works for the state is blacks. Thats why these young people do this because they think they are owed something. they shouldnt have to work for what they want just steal it its owed to me !

Precisely the reason i would NEVER want to meet or be around someone like you!!

What the heck is going on with these kids? Some kid is going to get seriously hurt, likely killed, then we're going to see all hell break loose. But maybe then someone high up that has power and gives a crap about these kids will step up and put forth a solution.

You sure there was no Hispanic, maybe a white person here or there? What about the Pharmacy robberies on the rise most recent being a nice white gentlemen who strolled in to an NY Pharmacy and killed 4 people inside so he could get the prescription fix. But its just black youth who are screwed up.

Not condoning racism, but these black mob attacks have been happening for several months.. not just these thefts, which are apart of it, but these mobs attack random white people. Racism is stupid, and the following article is very racist, but it gives you the facts (just read past the racism.. in the same way you have to look past the reverse racism in the original news story) Seeing both perspectives will give you the facts.

That seems to me to be a good solution....as each person enters they pull out their ID...it is scanned and photographed.....but.....they could always use fake ID's and still not be caught.

I agree with you. This is not just about the economy. Or even, really, about the economy at all. Its about our society. We have been, as a society, promoting via television and music the idea that having stuff is what its all about, and "getting mine" is what its all about, and on every level of society, ruthlessness and greed and criminal behavior has been glorified.

And its not really that surprising that kids who cant rape nations with armies like the big corporate players do, are raping convenience stores with flash mobs instead. Same behavior, exactly, just on a more petty scale.

You cant have a society that promotes the idea that if you want more stuff, you should have the right to take it by force and not expect that to eventually trickle down and be reflected in the behavior of the people. Our leaders are doing it, why shouldnt they?

We need to refocus as a collective, as a nation, or this is just what we are going to be seeing more of.

People who live in lilly white areas tend to be very judgemental about folks who simply speak the truth. There is a MAJOR problem with black youth in the inner cities. Yes, it is a black thing. Sorry. Just the facts. It doesn't mean every inner city black kid has no chance and acts like a thug. There are many that actually do have good parenting and are taught about personal responsibility. Many inner city blacks are very hard working and contribute to their communities.

But far too many of the inner city folks (and I lived in the middle of New Orleans, so this is not theoretical) do have major issues with complete lack of respect for anything or anybody and they feel entitled to everything. Many live on welfare and use taxpayer supplied welfare money to buy hairweaves, expensive creams, tire rims, and drugs. We are apparently supposed to sit back and say "Oh, poor people. Their great great great grandfather was a slave. We should be more understanding."

That is a slap in the face to the hardworking blacks who actually ARE doing what they can to better their situation and that of their children. It's a slap in the face of anyone of any race that is hardworking and struggling while doing the right thing.

So cops and councilman are downplaying the Peoria incident? Wow, they are always straightforward when it come to things that show their failures and bring them bad press. I'll take the word of a neighborhood resident any day of the week over "officials" who stand to be embarrassed or voted out of office.

In closing: The judgemental liberals, who live in lilly white areas and would likely call my comments racist, always become the worst of racists when they actually move somewhere that actually has a large inner city black population. It's both funny and sad to see these ridiculous idealists become extreme bigots. They make the worst of Louisiana rednecks blush with their racism, which is a feat

Stealing or destroying personal property of a storeowner is a major violation of basic values. It is not "lashing out against corporations". They are threatening local people who are working to make a living in hard economic times. It's far past time for someone to smoke some of these kids. They need to understand that their actions have consequences. Every proporty owner has the right to protect hi/her property.

Thats what America has allowed to happen, it has done nothing but cause resentment, for generations it has been the norm to suck off the system/taxpayer. The sad thing is that most of these people have no idea where the money comes from, I heard a black lady on a radio talk show say she thought the money came from Obamas stash? No education, no upbringing, and here is what you get.

Well, just FTR, I'm white and had a jewelry booth at an antique mall. A group of guys broke in and destroyed more than they even stole. They really screwed up smashing guitars in a booth that was the hobby of a local police detective.

They had also broke into a church that night, and stole and vandalized there.

They were caught with stolen merchandise in the back of your typical white guy serial killer looking van.
They were all white.

Another time I witnessed 3 white guys coming out of the woods carrying stuff, one with a vcr. They saw us sitting at our kitchen table eating lunch and ran. The cops pulled up not long after but didn't catch them, as they'd run into a big half wooded field. They'd been breaking into apartments where no one was home, and returning up in the woods, then down to get the next place.

I've just never seen white guys so bold (or stupid) as to do that crap in the middle of the day knowing people would be present and cameras would be rolling. I think what you've got here is a blatant display of their disregard for the law, as well as criminal activity.
