No, they just help the new member with any questions they have.

Adopting or being adopted is kinda like having a big brother or big sister. They answer any questions you might have. When you have one particular person who you can ask instead of the entire board it makes it a little easier.

Being an adobtee is a great thing to have here on ATS,
It gives new members a change to get to know the board, and ask all them questions they are afraid will sound silly.

It also gives them a chance to feel included and part of the board the moment they join, they feel like they know someone,

So I say all you older members get out their help a new member,
It really can be daunting when you first come here, so it helps to have someone to bounce off.
Look out for the new members who post in the wrong forum or who look a bit confused at the concept of how things work,
A friendly u2u does wonders; just offering a helping hand can make a whole lot of difference

Some members who get adopted tend to go missing after a while,
