A T S - is losing credibility with this ..

The fact that Bill even responded to this thread amazes me. He shouldn't have even wasted his time.

Why don't you whiners try starting your own website, a successful one at that, without advertising dollars. A minimal amount of ads for members I might add.

This whole crying about ads is weak. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

I think a lot of you guys are missing the boat. There's actually some really cool stuff that shows up in the ads. I likely never would've found out about the fire hose pants from Duluth Trading, if not for an ad here a few years ago.

Just sayin'.

Just do as I do.

Use Firefox, and add the add-on NO SQUINT.

You can enlarge the page to a point where the ads are not seen.

It remembers your settings for the site so each time you visit it is at that setting.

The site owners still get their revenue,you do not have the ads in your view and you can actually read the posts better because the words are larger on the screen.

I actually have the post reply page a lot bigger than the site itself so I can see what I am typing clearly.

There is always a solution to the problem at hand.

You just to have the knowledge to comprehend the situation and find a way to resolve it,without complaining about it.

You could also just hit CTRL+ (CTRL plus the "+" sign). It zooms the page in Firefox for you. CTRL plus the "-" sign will unzoom it.

Aah, I thought one would assume I was being sarcastic, just said it because this is a conspiracy site and all. I suppose I need to use /sarcasm thingys, but that takes all the fun from it

It is a big difference of some few adds, google ads etc... but this wizard games, mobile phones, shop gold, netflix maniac blinking adds..

The greed and must for money is easy to spot.

You might want to run some Spybot-type scanner. Seriously. I'm on here for hours a day, use no ad block or pop up block, see everything the newest member sees, and I don't get anything intrusive like that.

Okay...first off the ads don't bother me really...but when it starts getting crazy and I can't use the functions of ATS...well then it sucks.





This is the first time it has ever happened...but as you can imagine it is frustrating...right over the top of all the tabs that are kind of important...

Just thought I would share it....happens to be an AXE ad...so that does help some. I would have really been upset if it was a tampon ad.

Probably just a technical glitch. Fire a U2U to Bill or file a complaint with the staff and we'll make sure it gets looked at by Bill.

That looks like it could be a "rollover" ad. I get one from Lowe's hardware. If your cursor is over the area of the banner ad, it'll roll the ad down for additional text and graphics. Don't have your cursor in that area of the banner ad, and it won't happen.

I've been here for a while now, and am on here for hours a day. I've never had a malicious ad appear, nor popup. Infact, most of the time, I don't even notice the ads anymore, and I see the same ones that everyone else sees.

As annoying as you may think these ads are? They're nothing compared to what we used to be subjected to... The mosquito comes to mind, along with the clown. Horrifyingly annoying...

When they were finally removed, there was mass rejoicing in the ranks of ATS...

I agree...the ads are not usually a burden and I hardly notice them most of the time...this was a first and isolated event for me...and I think the cursor over the ad explanation fits...although I was returning from the media center to the ATS homepage when it happened. Either way...the cursor over the ad probably is the explanation.

No reason to alarm anyone yet...but if I do have anymore trouble with it I will send an alert and see if we can't get it hashed out...so far though...no worries...just more of an observation I guess and less on the complaint side.

This is becoming more commonplace and it's partly the reason for my absence from this site for days at a time.

It's starting to remind me too much of GLP.

And before the haters start in with their "why don't you leave" schtick, why should I have to leave? This site should be more than just a site for the internet's most ignorant to spew the same # they absorbed from other sites.
