If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything.

Thats a quote that I truley believe is true. Its form the move sucker punch. Recently, I've been seeing a lot of posts of strange things happening, religious things happening etc. Many people belive in various things. Tell me, what do you stand for?

That is not an easy question to answer. I guess for me it would be honesty (I hate a liar and a cheat), equality, and a comfortable happy life for all. It sounds kinda cheesy when I write it out but those are very important to me. I also think we should consider our planet and our future, over short term gains. I am a big proponent of intercity vertical farming. We haven't changed our basic farming practices in 10,000 years.

That's it of the top of my head but, like I said, it is not an easy question to answer. What, may I ask, do you stand for?

One of my favorite quotes and I've even used that here on ATS awhile ago. And it's so true, ya know?

But people latch onto things now-a-days because it's such a hassle to research, or even to think about both sides of an equation, so they "fall for everything," even if it's both sides of a coin.

Gullibility because of no ability, or even inability.

They can't make a stand because they're always redrawing their own lines in the sand. Where do I go? Where do I stand? Why does my belief system sink when I have built it on this solid sand? Yes, the rains came and washed it all away, and so now they don't stand for anything because they're too busy sitting on the fence.

Stop sitting! Get off the fence, or the couch, and make a stand! Stand for SOMETHING because as the gentlemen just said, if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for everything.

This is incredibly weird. I just had three tabs open in my browser searching for scientific studies on gullibility because I was going to do a thread on it....

Believe me?

But really, I did. I couldn't find anything decent though. Keep getting atheist pages talking about creationists,

Ridiculous. We've succumbed to declaring ultimate truths from movie quotes based on 911-era country song lyrics (Aaron Tippin "You've Got to Stand for Something or You'll Fall for Anything").
Gullibility indeed is what the OP seems to be exhibiting in this post.
What is "standing for something"? IMO it's declaring your belief in something. And of course once you've done that, you've got a huge blind spot about anything that conflicts with your declared belief system.
"Fall for anything"? It's just stupidity.
Basically this entire expression denies critical thinking in favor of faith/belief.
Critical thinking - not "standing for something" - will keep you from "falling for anything".

I looked up gullible in the dictionary... it wasn't there

.......

I stand up to do anything not internet related

........

ok now that my jokes are out of the way
I'm wondering what subject I should stand on that best represents me

I stand by I'm a good parent, and no one is going to ever tell me differently
On June 6th, 1992, I brought home a beautiful baby boy and was immediately greeted with "get him on a schedule, don't let him do this, you have to do this, this diaper and that formula, and my mother always said, and my grandmother raised 9 children... etc, etc, etc"
I answered every single one with the same line
This is my kid, when I ask you for advice, you can give it. Period.

And in return I'll never ask you to watch home movies or force you to look at all the snapshots of him that I took yesterday
