for those who dont know the Australian government wants to bring in a 'carbon tax' which would see everyone who uses carbon pay a tax on it (fairly straightforward)

but its the general public that gets hit hard, NOT THE BUSINESSES WHO USE THE MOST CARBON

as with most things the media is really shifting the story so people are caught up on unimportant aspects and neglecting to look at the big picture

sure it may make some people use less carbon, but big business is subsidised for the tax they pay so its not going to change anything regarding climate change..just more profit for the government, and considering it effects virtual everyone its just another tax with a special name slapped on it..

the big picture is..ITS JUST PROCRASTINATION, THE GOVERNMENT REFUSES TO ACTUALLY TAKE ANY REAL ACTION ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE AND WANTS TO CONVINCE PEOPLE IT ACTUALLY CARES..

now if Australia brings this in, its fairly probable that other country’s will adopt the idea
and its just gunna make the rich richer and poor poorer..

so if your in Australia, raise your voice and say no to the carbon tax, but YES to real action on carbon change such as adopting renewable energy (which is a lot more practical than they say)

if your not in Australia:

email our pm!

this is a bad idea and should not be put in place..
there is no benefit apart from the government gets more money..its not going to do help the climate or environment and that is fact because
IF IT DOESNT EFFECT BUSINESS, IT DOESNT EFFECT THE ENVIRONMENT

help out people

How do you propose that the government implement renewable energy? And why is that better than a carbon tax? I don't necessarily disagree, but I just need something convincing.

Climate change is a valid issue, but it's just another tool being used by the NWO to control everyone. Renewable energy is great, I have no problem with it. But I just wouldn't support any kind of carbon tax on anyone, not as long as the corrupt remain in power. Like I've said in another thread -- if humans can't stand up and be a free people who resists tyranny, then we as a race don't really deserve to live anyway. Therefore, bring on the end of the human race through global warming or w/e else.

yes that is a hard one, and unluckily it depends on our resource industry being happy to make a move before they are forced too..
one day soon we will run out of fossil fuel and it would see the utter collapse of the economy,
but we can take action today and make a slow transition from our resource companies dealing in that to maintaing our green energy and selling that off..sure it wouldn’t be as profitable but it has to be done and im sure they would make us pay through our teeth anyway.

its either that or drastically change the worlds economy, but sadly this depends on people taking action before it personally effects them which is unrealistic because people are dumb

as for global warming being a tactic for NWO..i agree in the fact that global warming is off topic, like most things our media gets us rowed up about insignificant things so we don’t see the big picture.
and the big picture is we know that fossil fuels aren’t good for our earth and the animals on it, we know that it will soon run out and we know that one day we will need to change to renewable energy.
wether its causing global warming is irrelevant,

like most things it depends on the people taking action
with this whole social network buzz i wish we could get the whole world to stop buying petrol for a week or so, it would probably collapse the economy so you wouldn’t need to go to work anyway

Maybe Gillard could have mandated the carbon tax when we go to elections next....

Maybe we could have an educated debate on what the best action to take WRT the climate and how we can best influence our behaviour in making permanent change in our daily lives.

I might as well wish for a solar powered Ferrari whilst I'm at it.

I personally think that the ALP have overshot their budget and will get behind any new source of revenue that they can get away with....It is no secret that the carbon tax will have near zero influence on actually lowering the planets mean temperature. If they were really in it for the greater good, maybe they should pick a solution that will actually solve something.

I might as well wish for a Ferrari with a cold fusion drive system......

I think there will be blood on the streets before a carbon tax is introduced in Australia.

Gillard will be the first to go

please do not vote libreal or labour
they are both the same and it is an illusion of freedom and choice, we all know they believe virtually the same crap

vote for an independent like the greens (theyre not the best but atleast it loosens the stranglehold on our government by the libs and labs)
the free australia party is also good

but honestly us australians are way to lazy

but one can dream i guess

let me point out one more time
THE CARBON TAX WILL NOT HELP CLIMATE CHANGE WHEN BUSINESSES DO NOT NEED TO LIMIT THEIR FOSSIL FUEL CONSUMPTION, BECAUSE THEY USE THE MOST GREENHOUSE GASES
ALSO IT JUST MAKES US POORER!

F you julia, everytime they promise someone different who will actually change things for good..and everytime they are just EXACTLY THE SAME!

It's an obvious money grab. Gillard and Brown have dragged us into so much debt they need the revenue.

Renewable is a great dream..but until they become cost efficient enough to compete with coal it remains a dream. Private investment with government incentives could be a good balance, and would help Australia become a competitor in the market globally.

Aside from this, Australia is ranked 15th in the world for carbon emissions. Sounds high, until you realize that's around 1.4% of total global emissions - China currently leads with 20% Wikipedia Emissions link. Basically, if we turned off all power in Australia, the world wouldn't even notice.

And as for global warming..cooling...climate change(?) whatever the hell it's called now, that scam has been running for longer then I've been alive. The climate does change, forever has and will (check out the mini-ice age in the middle ages..). Notice all the houses Al Gore and the like live in...? Action always speak louder then words.

And the Greens...shut down all coal mines and yadda yadda? About as much experience with the real world as a child, with half the understanding of "actions and consequences". Once they have the balance of power, things could get interesting.

I absolutely detest the greens.....I could think of nothing worse than putting those idiots into power.

The greens have absolutely no idea on how to run our nations economy and would only spend their time pushing their own agenda to the detriment of Australia's people.

I'm all for the environment, but even the lowliest economist knows that there must be a balance between environmental ideologies and economic responsibilities. You can't have the best of both worlds, but with well thought out policy you can benefit both sides.

Voting for an Independent is just throwing your vote away. You have only to look at Oakshot and the Mad Katter to see the proof of this. They will push for anything that will benefit their own electorate but rarely give a stuff about anything else.

One pro of Australian politics is that LIB and ALP are both so close to centre that the difference between the two is/are minimal. LIB are the fiscal responsible party that wont spend enough and ALP are the impulsive spenders that don't know when to stop. Bob Hawke was probably the big exception to this but his hand was forced due to a recessive economy.

I will be voting for LIB for the next election as I have lost all confidence in the ALP since Gillard knifed Rudd in the back.

Personally, I would probably have voted for Rudd if he was still in office but that ship has sailed now. Labour have shown their true colours as a group of factions that can't agree with each other. Re-instigating Rudd back into the leadership now would be just putting make-up on the monster(IMHO).

those crazy fools wont be happy till we are all broke and dying off to save the planet.

Can any one tell me if imported goods will also have this carbon tax added to them? Or is this just another way to close more Aussie businesses and create further unemployment, after all this will increase not only the cost of the Australian public, but will hit most of our manufacturing and producers in one way or another.

Having almost no real political choice, I think I'll be voting for the Sex Party. I've met the leader of the party and she actually seems to have her head screwed on right. What her view is on climate change I am unsure, but I am sure the Juliar is the worst political leader this country has ever seen. One year since the 'assassination' of Rudd and what has she achieved? Nothing positive as far as I can tell!

I think there is a problem with government period. There is no transparency. Greens are totally clueless. they would be worse.

Its not about a monopoly as such its about informed and educated voting.

If there was an election at this time, Gillard would lose. Greens would not be in the senate and that leaves a bit of a mess really...

What do we do? Focus on local governement and local issues FIRST. This is where it really works and we really have a say.

tHEN THERE REALLY IS ALWAYS THE SEX PARTY..... can't be that bad really....

Trouble is its all well and good they introduce a carbon tax if there is other options available for use to use.

eg

- What power company you now going to start using so you dont get taxed.
- Petrol will be added soon and dont say it wont, Fishface said she wouldnt introduce a carbon tax now here we are. What carbon free car you driving??
- Just look around your house and try to find stuff that was made that didnt produce carbon or uses it as a source of power
