Religious folks have been the ones that have been telling people how to live their lives and what to say and what not to say.

It wasn't just any golf tournament.

It was the U.S. Open Major, this year played in Maryland, close to DC....

"This is not a form of brainwashing"

And it's also not the government business to decide when we say God.

The words "Under God" have no place in the pledge of allegiance because this country was not founded under Christianity but rather with freedom of religion.

You people can worship the flying spaghetti monster or your magical bearded man, but the government shouldn't get involved

Where is it written that you must say "under God" when you say the Pledge?

And believe me, the only time anybody cares about your 'belief system' is when you try to suppress their right to say "under God".

The government isn't forcing you to say it, so enough of the strawman arguments, OK?

Whatever.

The Pledge of Allegiance was created by a socialist, who wanted to drum up support for federal bureaucracies. I say we get rid of the whole thing.

Here Here!

Religion should be separated from all things besides 'Personal Belief'

i do ponder what would happen if someone wrote a 'Pledge' that said 'Under Satan'?

i would wager there would be a huge uproar

I just stay silent for that "under god" part. I am happy with "one nation".

If you want to say under god....go ahead. I have learned to live with it......It seems that our nation is out to please everybody. I am pleased when I do not say the "G' word. People are happy because they say the "G" word.

Why can't it stay at that. I do not wish to change this. To the hell with it. There are worse problems we have to deal with...............Just another tactic to divide and conquer..... Lets just piss them all off.

Everybody is always digging in other peoples business....Politically correct has gone too far............And I do not believe in the all mighty............You do.............that is just great..

Man, I'm so tired of the Christian Agenda always trying to stick it's faith in my face. Who you worship in the privacy of your own home or church doesn't need to be broadcast. I really don't want to have to explain to my children what Christianity is cause you guys just can't keep your faith in your pants.

Sheesh. I hope we never let these Christians marry, or they will be asking to adopt kids or have a Jew marry a Muslim or something.

The world has lost it's intellectual value I tells ya.

Peace
KJ

didn't the pledge come out at the same time as the great seal of the united states? if so, the god it refers to is probably osiris, a man god, otherwise known as narmer, the founder of the pharaonic line after the black sea flood, also known as enmerkar (akkadian).

What pledge are you referring to? Where does it say "Under the Christian God?"

I'm curious, because I thought God referred to whatever God you worshipped.

well if you look closely at the associations between egypt and israel of the old testament time frame, it's likely that satan is the egyptian set, the "serpent" god (set/sat + an (an/anu). satan doesn't even show up as a word, until the time of king david, and there was alot of shared history between the two cultures.

I don't believe their 'apology' for a minute. They deliberately omitted "under God" because they were pandering to the left wing atheist wackos.

Nah - they were pandering to non-aligned atheist ratinalists.

lol, I must not have held my mouth just quite right in an earlier post saying it would cover all other gods too.
It must have flown right over their heads. Very Eloquently put

The problem with all this politically correct stuff, is that whoever is offended is offending someone else. It's stifling. If someone wants to include God in the pledge of allegiance or a prayer giving blessing over the community at some event, so what? God means something different to everyone, but an honest blessing no matter where it comes from shouldn't be this huge deal.

Does removing "Under God" from the pledge undermine your beliefs that much? I don't honestly see what the big deal is.

Say it yourself if it's such a big deal to you, come on.
