The ATS Missing Threads Conspiracy

The staff are CT too. Do you think that if run by the CIA or any other alphabet agency that we wouldn't know it? 1/3 of the staff isn't American, myself included. We would see if something like that was going on. There's no coercion going on to have ATS remove content.

I was not going to post in this thread
but did feel the need to share something.

Under new laws, if ANYONE
was to actually get a National Security
Letter with a directive on it for them to
comply with,

they would NOT be allowed by law to
tell you about it

nor explain to you what those directives were.

Not co-operating with a National Security
Letter can mean heavy fines and imprisonment
and even confiscation of property to include
web servers.

So actually confronting ANYONE concerning
this topic is a waste of time. You will not find
the answers you seek where you are looking

If that were to ever happen, yes the staff has discussed this, didn't I say that we are CT as well? The servers would be moved off of American soil. That was the outcome of the discussion.

Ok I agree with your point and I can see that the site owners and mod's are genuine...

However...

What if the CIA, NSA or any other concerned alphabet government organisation are monitoring such sites as ATS and remove the things they feel are "too close to a truth"? I'm not 100% saying that this actually happening, but the possibiity for a government agency to allow themselves moderator/super moderator privlidges through certain hacks, backdoors etc is not out of the realms of possibility. Then the site owners or moderators may never be aware that it is happening...

Now that is a tin foil hat conspiracy, lol

If I worked my tail off building this site.

Then somebody came along and made that accusation.

I would be deeply offended and I would of probably deleted them.

EVERY action that the staff makes is logged. That would be easy to track. It hasn't happened to date.

This thread wasn't deleted, so it must not be "too close to the truth" (whatever that means). Even if it was a "CIA Front" (redundant term), why in god's name would you challenge the CIA in such a helpless manner????? .....you hear that? *knock knock*...too late, they found us.... Then we would know anyway. We see content that is removed and there's no log on it? RED FLASHING LIGHTS!!!! How would we know? We're members too and have diverse interests. If something earthshattering disappeared we would know. If something only interesting disappeared we would know.

Edit to add an example: This thread is now logged in MYATS. If I came back to it later and it wasn't here and no note in the logs as to who moved it? You can bet your last dollar that I'd be shouting loud.

You can take al the security measure's that you like but in reality any high level govenment agency could get into whichever system they choose and leave no trace whatsoever, I am just highlighting a fact. There are numerous government divisions that not only monitor cyber activity but also take counter measures against those who they think oppose them.

I am sorry if I offended you, I was obviously and regretfully well off base with some of my previous comments where by I said any ATS mods or site owners may be "in on it", but on further examination, you wouldn't even need to be in on it if a government agency so wished to delete certain information.

Just to clear up some obvious misconceptions, I actually work for and with the Government agencies you are talking about and no matter what you see on TV, or choose to believe, as SO writes the code for ATS, there is currently NO technology that would allow anyone to "hack" ATS without his knowledge or ability to discover the hack.

Again regardless of what you believe, that is a fact.

This has to be one of the greatest/most amusing Threads I have experienced here on ATS.

In regards to the OP, I can write from experience that one of my THREADS was moved to the COMPLAINT Forum and I was informed via U2U'd by GreenEyedLeo of the action. I received the 404 screen and contacted GEL if the Thread had been moved or REMOVED.

GEL responded promptly and in much detail explained the purpose and where the Thread had been moved. I then edited the original Thread to correct the stated issues and GEL closed the new thread.

When I inquired about the reason the new Thread was closed, GEL again responded promptly with a detailed explanation and even advised that placing the similar new Thread was against T&C.

I Was Not Happy About It But GEL Was Impartial, Polite And Most Importantly Correct. Never Once Did I Think About A Conspiracy Wrapped-up Inside A Conspiracy Listed Against Our ATS Conspiracy Website's SkepticOverlord.

ALL IS GREAT, Just Take The Time To Contact The MOD And I Am Certain You Will Be Given The Same Courtesy I Received.

All I Can Say Is Once You Apply Logic And Rational Thought, You Usually See The Forest For The Tree. That, And...Apologizes Go A LONG Way!

What you are saying is still impossible.

#1 unless they are a Mod or an Admin, they would not be familiar with all the different ways things are logged. Some ways get logged automatically, while others are logged manually by the Mods that make the action.

#2 Would they also erase our memories? I mean, if I see a thread, and then it is gone, I go and check to see why. If there was no trace as to why it was moved, I would contact the other mods. If nobody had any explanation, then the Owners would be notified. (There have been instances where something has occurred late at night and required an explanation the next day.) So, even if some expert hacker came in, and removed something, and changed the automated logging, they would not be aware of our manual protocols and there would still be that pesky memory of the thread.

#3 I also work for the government, and I can tell you with certainty, we are not that advanced, we are always a step or two behind the mavericks and criminals, we are constantly playing catchup, and our employees are not the top notch recruits, those recruits go to better paying gigs!

#4 Semper works in a different government capacity than me, although still in enforcement, and he has military background, and he said it is impossible. I also have a good friend that investigates computer crimes for the FBI, and he says it is impossible, and he also says the government goes after the low-hanging fruit, not the difficult, expensive, and time-consuming stuff.

The bottom line is, if its a conspiracy ,it will stay a conspiracy, 'skeptic over lord 'can not keep his eyes on all his employees or volunteers.
He would not know if 1 out of 599 mods defected on him and was doing this behind his back ,and even if it was true, why would he or any body else in this organization tell you openly or admit it.

One thing I did learn from this site and 7 other I am on, when the Jerusalem ufo video came up, every mod and every owner on all the sights was up 18 hours every day for a week straight trying to help…derail 'and throw the whole subject into oblivion, that to me showed me beyond the shadow of a doubt, that a lot of forums received the phone call on the red phone.

ATS doesn't ban people.

ATS doesn't remove posts and threads.

Stupid people do stupid things and cause either of the above to happen.

I should know, I've been one of those stupid people.... In no case was any action I've seen here unwarranted, on the contrary, I think ATS staff have shown tolerance and discretion where they could have taken more harsh actions.

Too bad law enforcement in the real world cannot adopt a similar approach and attitude.

We can all sit here and bitch about the way ATS does business, and speculate on potential conspiracies ATS may be involved in... But at the end of the day, if ATS wasn't run the way it is, and didn't have the terms and conditions it has and enforces... Most of us would not be here.
