My sentiments exactly, and I have often been known to make this same statement to family and acquaintances--as well as musical performers, tow-truck drivers, psychiatrists, and even attractive strangers. Ok, so the government wants to thin out the populace. How exactly does it do that when it's spending a hell of alot of our tax dollars on telling us what to eat, what not to eat, drug wars, and all the many things that they regulate every day? I'm not saying that it's not happening, the population control, but why would you thin out the populace while telling it's people that they cant eat this anymore because they'll get fat and die... is that just to make us believe that they care? I wouldnt see it worth the effort... let people eat, drink and smoke what they want and the population will thin itself... right?

It is quite obvious that there is something, some event which we are being prepared for in advance. It is obvious that not many people would have been concerned with the year 2012 and much less the particular date(s) toward the end of that year which the mass media seems to have us so intently focused on, without the reinforcing rhetoric we have been subjected to for the last several years.

I do appreciate the fact that there exists a litany of historical insinuations concerning the end of the year 2012 but I have to wonder if the momentum ( approaching hysteria in some social circles ) behind the supposed event(s) that *might* occur in December of 2012 would have as much force behind it if not for the constant bombardment of the "End of life as we know it" messages from the mainstream media regarding this date(s).

I agree that it is a bit more than just "odd" that there seems to be not just a natural speculation about the end of the year 2012, specifically the 12-21-2012 date which we all know aligns with the end of the "Long Count" cycle of the ancient Maya calendar, but rather an almost imposed level of attention shined on this supposedly still theoretical event. Granted, there is and have been no short supply of "end-of-times" predictions in the world but I personally have never witnessed one which garnered anywhere near the level of attention devoted to the 12-21-2012 ( circa ) dates provided to us by virtually every major media outlet available to people today. I agree with the author's assertion that it is strange. "Why?" indeed. It's almost as if there was some sort of known event that, for whatever reason, the controllers of the media feel the need to "prep" us for. Perhaps so that we cannot claim that we "had no warning" once ( and IF ) some sort of catastrophe does befall Humanity on or around that date. What information is known that is not being ( fully ) revealed to us? And since when does so very many people care about the end of an ancient civilization's long-dead calendar?

I am not a well-informed individual on this matter, in fact I am only repeating the date which is literally seared into my own memory through the repeated and systematic rhetoric reinforced by the American media ( I live in N.A. )
I suppose the real question is : why is that date seared into my memory?
Along with so many other people's in the world today...

Population control is one of the biggest loads of crap i have ever heard. The theory is that the planet is overpopulated with people and resources are running short in attempt to feed and take care of everyone. This is absurd and preposterous.

The only reason there are any problems in this world are because of the greedy paranoid cowards who wont release technology and give up their money-bags gained through corruption.

If we had all of the technology that OUR citizens produced, our world would be much cleaner, safer, and fed! We had Nikola Tesla, who gave us wireless energy, Denny klein invented a torch that runs off of H20. In Dubai they are creating artificial islands, agriculture is a technology that has been around for millenia, it has never failed us ... Where is all this technology?
