Thatcher did NOT ‘snub’ Sarah Palin: The truth about the Iron Lady and the former Governor

In the past few days a number of hugely misleading reports have circulated in both Britain and the United States alleging that Margaret Thatcher snubbed Sarah Palin. It all began with a blog post in The Guardian claiming the former prime minister had refused to meet with Mrs. Palin on her upcoming visit to London, on the grounds that she was “unworthy of an audience”, and quoting an anonymous “ally” of Lady Thatcher.

According to The Guardian, in a piece entitled ‘Margaret Thatcher to Sarah Palin: don’t bother dropping by’:

This was followed up by another Guardian piece: ‘Sarah Palin snub by Margaret Thatcher aides infuriates US rightwing’

I have spoken to Lady Thatcher’s Private Office regarding the story, and they confirm that the attack on Sarah Palin definitely did not come from her office, and in no way reflects her views.

There was never any snub of Sarah Palin by Lady Thatcher’s office. However, there has been a great deal of mischief-making and unpleasantness from sections of the liberal press in a vain and futile attempt to use Margaret Thatcher’s name to smear a major US politician

I think the MSM motto should be, in regards to Palin.

How they continue to make money from advertisers is beyond me. You would think someone at the Corporate level would be seeing how unfair and bias the media/networks are towards an American Citizen and would say Enough Already!

I think the MSM have blown their ammo already for Palin and she isn't even running (yet).

Acutally Palin has been playing the MSM pretty well. She has them running around in circles and making fools out of themselves. When/If she does decide to run for POTUS and the Media starts on her, people will over look them as being bias and partisian. (more visable and apparent now than ever).

I could probably write a small book on why I hate a lot of anti-intellectual talking heads (I hate Obama too if it's any consolation), but suffice it to say I'll summarize a few of my main grievances:

1.) She is an anti-intellectual, stereotypical dumb American who knows very little about American politics and history (as she has demonstrated in numerous quotes and interviews), exaggerates and lies to make her points ("death panels" in her opposition to health care reform), and who supports traditional, Christian value politics that have done nothing but impose one group's morality on an entire country (gay rights, Drug War, abortion, etc.).

2.) She is outspoken against the imaginary and stereotypical conservative enemy the MSS and the "liberal agenda." She vilifies intellectuals and appeals to the emotional and cultural sentiments of anti-intellectual masses in order to bolster her support.

3.) She is a quitter (former-governor) and an elitist (monetarily-loaded, faux-wilderness schtick, reality show bimbo, sellout, etc.).

Basically she's everything bad about America embodied in a female form. So why you like such a dangerous and dumb woman I'll never know. Well I guess you are one of those masses, but I could be wrong, but it seems the only logical reason.

I have, a couple of times, and it's very nerve wracking. You are trying very hard not to say anything they can take out of context and use against you. You are trying to answer their questions without providing any more information than they ask for. You are trying to do this without any hesitation that can be construed as lying and without sounding stupid. Sometimes in trying not to sound stupid you end up doing so anyway.

Tell ya what, go read her emails. The MSM pounced on them looking for gaffes and instead found an intelligent, informed, and involved head of state. Imagine how disappointed they, and you, were.

Appealing to what education I have is meaningless. Stupid people go to elite colleges all the time through their parent's money, connections, etc. Doesn't make them any less stupid.

And she apparently didn't run the state very well if she quit. Not to mention getting elected in the first place is more a lying, propaganda, popularity contest than a meritocracy. So your points are still invalid.

She quit for the benefit of Alaska. Not what I would have done, I'd have fought the bastards, but I wasn't in her shoes.

Your actually bringing up education?? Do you know about her education. People with real educations laugh at hers. 5 colleges 6 years -- journalism yep a real nose to the grindstone scholar there. When I went to school that profile fit two kinds of people those trying to stay our of Viet Nam and Slackers, I wonder which she is? I actually heard that she quit as governor. Yep I'm inpressed. Education -- Really?

You know she probably isn't going to sleep with you, no matter how much you champion her.

Probably a non story because Thatcher has Alzheimers. The truth of the matter is that the reponse probably reflects the common attitude of her staff, and is totally believable.

Politics being what politics are, we can accept not a word that was said from either side about why the meeting didn't happen.

The simple fact of the matter is ample answer enough.

Thank god you cleared up exactly why Thatcher who is too ill to have guests did not visit with some chick that works for FOX news. That was really worrying me at night. Any news on Gretchen Carlson going to visit anyone no longer really relevant? Who is Shep hanging with these days?

Any excuse for quitting is still just an excuse for quitting. If she cannot stand up to a few ethics suits then president of the US would probably kill her.

Currently none, but I can guarantee you that if the occasion happens, I'll be running that state at least twice as long as her record.

And speaking as a former Alaskan, there's really no way to "run" that state - unless by using the word "run" you're referring to scams. Alaskan politics are as corrupt as Louisiana politics, possibly moreso 'cause Alaskans really don't give a good goddamn so long as you stay out of the papers.

Essentially she quit a job where her only duties were to get paid for farting in a chair for four years.
