EVP "Shoot the rabbit"

I just came across this new EVP upload. It was from the top of Mt. Elden in Flagstaff, AZ. The thing about this one other than the fact that it's creepy, is that the person was not trying to get EVP. Apparently it was just an accidental catch.

I don't call EVP on this one, the whole thing is way too suspect.

The shortness of the video is very telling, plus there is no way to gauge ambient sounds and the like. I will even go so far to suggest it was someone very real speaking into the microphone (or at the very least a stray finger over it) due to the volume and distortion. I'm also fairly certain (almost sure) there is air being blown into the mic which implies real person, rather than paranormal.

Intentional hoax in my honest opinion, videos like this do no credit to paranormal studies.

Well since the person was standing on top of a mountain, I would expect to hear wind.

I actually live in Arizona and have been on top of that same mountain, although it was several years ago. I was trying to find info about the Wallow wildfire when I happened upon this video. I'm sorry I can't get videos to embed on here but every time I try it gives me a message that the link is corrupted.

How's this ?

Sounds like "Oh Susan"

Which I remember was a creepy line out of a 60s-70 Movie, where a bad guy was stalking a girl called Susan, my memory is sketchy about the movie details.

Yes the EVP or whatever is kinda creepy

Thank you!

I don't know why I can't get them to work?

That movie sounds good! I love those kind like "Fatal Attraction" and "Road Trip".

That's very interesting. It's one of those things that makes you say, "Hmmm..."

It says,

The Rabbit is a lucky sign.

Now I want to find out what my Chinese Zodiac sign is.

Actually there are surrounding mountains where 2 WWII planes crashed. One was a B24 Liberator and the other was a B17. Sadly, the B24 wreckage was blown up by the Forest Service or whatever, because they kept getting panicked people calling in reporting a plane crash on the side of the mountain. In the afternoon the sun would reflect off of it and people driving down on the highway below would notice it and not realize it was a WWII plane.

Wind could explain the whole thing too.

Why should you automatically assume this is an EVP? Just because this is a paranormal section of the form it doesn't mean common sense and logic is suddenly thrown out of the window.

By the way my background is in professional audio and I have researched EVPs in the past. This one stinks to high-heaven, it's a shame it seems you're suffering from close-mindedness.

Actually I'm not close-minded. It appears to be you who has wrongly judged me. You don't know me. In fact, awhile ago I actually took the time to send the YouTube user a private message and among other things, I asked him/her the concerns you brought up about the video. Of course if I get a reply it might not be truthful but at least I tried which is probably more than you did.

Oh please, you couldn't even come up with those observations yourself so I find your conclusion that you've somehow done more very flawed.

You came on here to spam this highly questionable YouTube video because you are either the author or you were very impressed by it (I suspect the latter), so you're now doubtful and decided on attempting to validate your previous views by sending a message to the uploader.

Frankly this section of the forum needs a good kick up the backside as it's being overrun with junk, this video not excluded.

I find it odd that you people who seem to "question" everything, don't take the time to question the people who upload "questionable" videos on YouTube.

You claim to be an expert of some sort on EVP, I would love to see or should I say hear, what you have? Seriously, and unlike you, I'm not being sarcastic. Do you have any uploaded to YT that you would care to share? You may already have but I am new to ATS and I haven't seen them.

Accidental catch EVP; Clicky

Background information here.

Is that the kind of thing you're after?

You don't look as it's an EVP, listen to the audio first.

Click where it says "clicky" in my post above.

Well no, you don't 'see' EVP but when it's uploaded as a video then you 'see' the video and hear the audio. LOL

Anyway, that 'laugh' is very freaky and more typical of EVP. I thought that rocking horse video was determined to be a hoax by a lot of people. After hearing that laugh, it seems a lot more credible.

Could you do something similar with the "Shoot the rabbit" one? It would be interesting to hear it done in that same manner.

Oh, and thanks for sharing that with me. It was chilling to say the least. LOL

Indeed, my initial thoughts were hoax too. I guess most would naturally assume the same, it is a bit of a cliché to say the least and is easily hoaxed but I'm really not too sure now. I guess the jury is still out on that one, which is why it hasn't ended up in the hoax bin.

As for the video you linked in this thread, I along with many others can do a lot more with the entire video rather than a two-second clip (depending on a few factors), we can learn a lot from the ambient sounds for example. It would help to have the video in an uncompressed format as possible (ie; not from youtube), the original file in an unaltered condition would be best.

To be honest with you, I'm not expecting much from the author but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

I just got a reply from the YT uploader. Here is what she said about that video. I had also inquired about other things pertaining to Mt. Elden and the wildfires but I won't add that in here since it's not the topic.

I had asked why it was such a short video, and was it windy, what kind of camera...

She replied back and seemed to be very open about it. She said she and her husband had ridden up Mt. Elden on a motorcycle. They were the only people up there at the time. They were only up there for a short time. She wanted to take some pictures and video to upload to show her cousin back east the damage that fire does out here in AZ. How it takes years for things to grow back in this dry state. She said her camera is just a cheapie little Cannon. It was windy up there. She said she just uploaded a couple of other videos from the top of Mt. Elden showing fire damage and the city of Flagstaff as viewed from the top of the mountain. She said there was no particular reason why that video was so short. She often takes little snippets. She said had it originally been longer, she would have edited it to just the strange sound because why would she have 2 minutes if there was just one part of the video she was focusing on? But she said that one was not edited except for where she slowed it down in Movie Maker.

I had told her I uploaded it to a paranormal forum but I didn't say which one. She said no wonder she already had more than 2 views on it. LOL She said she understands completely why people are skeptical of such things and they should be because it would be so easy to fake them. But she said she in no way faked it. It is just as she described it. She can't swear it's an EVP but she doesn't know what it is. She said her husband is a complete skeptic but when she played that back for him he seemed to have a change in heart because he was right there and knows they didn't hear anything like that when they were up there. She said the best way for people to prove to themselves that EVP are real is if they actually go out and get their own because then you know it wasn't a hoax.

I had already perused her channel before linking her video to see if it looked like there are just a bunch of this type of videos that were uploaded but the other videos are nothing like this. Lots of animals. LOL I had told her I was going to pass along what she said unless she had any objections and she said no. She said she welcomes the dialogue and if anybody wants, they can message her on YT. She said she would be more than happy to answer any questions about it.
