Within the past couple of days there has been a severe drop in communication between suspected terrorists. Officials believe that this could mean that an attack is imminent since this is exactly what happened right before 9/11.

CNN) -- A drop in so-called "chatter" among suspected terrorists is troubling some counterterrorism officials, who noticed a reduction in intercepted communications before the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, government sources said.

Pakistan authorities arrested a key al Qaeda suspect, Muhammed Naeem Noor Khan, in mid-July. Officials said chatter continued after that arrest, but has fallen off in recent days.

www.cnn.com...

Tom Ridge already said that they may be in the operational phase of an attack at the moment, it could be that now they cut off communication between each other just ahead of an attack.

Yet more scaremongering I see. Its only purpose is to keep the US population fearful so the Bush administration can retrict more personal freedoms and continue it's war for oil in the middle-east under the guise of fighting terror.

Of course there will be another terrorist attack sometime. But, like 9/11, it will be carried out by the US on the US.

Well this kind of makes me rethink my reaction to a dream I had last night.

I dreamed that 30 churches where bombed killing over 100,000 people. And all of them where here in the U.S.
In my dream I woke up and turned on the TV and the first thing I heard was President Bush will have a statement in 30 minutes. Then they said once again, 30 churches have be bombed in 14 states. And the death toll so far is expected to be over 100,000.

When I woke up I was shaking, then I told myself it was just a dream and went back to sleep. With tomorrow being Sunday, and now this new info. i cant help but to wonder........

I couldnt agree more with you Eddie999, keep the sheeple scared, cant change horses mid-stream, its a ploy to keep the NEO-CONS in power, just another stolen election
All one has to do is read about the Nazis in Germany and on can see the similarities,
Even the majority of Germans didnt know the were being conned and lost there civil liberties in the defense of terrorism

I find it funny that a vast majority of people who believe this is all scare tactics don't live in the US. Maybe if something happened on your own soil and people you knew were hurt, killed or in jeopardy you would have a different take on this situation.

Does seem this way doesn't it, (though sadly there are quite a few americans spewing the same nonsense over and over and over, like a broken record, anytime new news is reported on the situation).

I for one, having heard a while back that a sudden decrease in chatter would be a worrisome sign (since it could signal something imminent) am disturbed at this new development. Hopefully, this is more a repercussion of all the recent captures and arrests in the past week or so.

I do wish we could get more information on these types of reports than the same people continuing to tell us their opinion (and that's all it is) that this is just smoke and mirrors. Then it just turns into the same old thread about what really happened on 9/11 and that is just getting played.

Well there probably isn't alot more info on these "reports" since this is a theory based on previous attacks. This is a period of time of "heightened alert" for all americans regardless of the threat level for where you reside. We can look at Spain as an example of the type of threat and time frame used to influence their election. It also has been previously reported that a drop in communication prior to an attack is also a typical pattern prior to other attacks. Take the info for what it's personally worth to you. Do nothing or take certain precautions, it's up to you.

An Attack may be imminent. lol, dont you mean an attack IS immenent?
I do not believe we will ever be totally safe from an attack again. We may be SAFER. But days our two big oceans arent enough of a barrier to stop those who would do us harm. We all need to be vigilant everyday of our lives. Live life to its fullest, just be aware.

The whole "Scare Tactics" arguement is getting way too played out. Look the government can either sit around and quietly listen to all its information sources about when and where the next attack will be, or it can give everyone a heads up when it feels like something is going down soon. If they do the former then all the Liberals will be up-in-arms that there wasnt any warning even though the government had credible information. If they to the later then the liberals will be saying that the government is crying wolf for its own purposes. At this point its just getting silly.

Eddie, you are right. How did youfigure out the fact that our President wants to kill innocent civilians and thousand, hundreds of thousands, miliions of Iraqis just to further his nefarious plot to enslave the world?

You know, don't tell anyone but... England is next. Better run.

Man you have the right to say anything you want. Do you have anything nice to say about ANYTHING American? Now be careful what you say. As a stupid American conservative I am very sensitive.

It is just as possible that the terrorists have given up for now because of the massive increase in security on their possible targets.. or maybe it is a sign that Al Qaeda has been weakened enough that they are unable to carry out their threats.

Try thinking positive people. We cannot continue to live in fear of the unknown. There is a whole world and a life out there for all of us to live and enjoy while we can.

If we cannot change the world then we must make the best of what we have.

They can take every thing I own, but they cannot take my freedom and they will not make me live in fear.

If we really knew where and when an attack was going to happen what more can be done than is being done already?

For all we know empty threats of terror in the U.S.A. and UK are all Al Qaeda is able to do now.

Or I guess we could get our duct tape and plastic, gas masks, surrvival kits, Cipro, condoms and cookies.. tune to CNN 24/7 and never go back outside?

Really why worry?

"don't worry be happy"

Right on Gazz.

Stop letting the alerts get to you. It is like the police telling you a Molester is in the neighborhood.

Wouldn't you rather know he is there so you can be ready?

NO CHATTER, o well living in NJ in one of the targeted areas I must say, enough!!!! If its the goverment doing this then so be it, if its terrorist doing this than so be it. I have lived here my whole life and I am 100% American mut, yes thats right a mut, Americans are nothing more than a melting pot of mixed people born from intercountry relationships. If you want to kill us, then do it, I am not scared and am tired of watching my friends and family live in fear because of what happened on 9/11. as the saying goes bring it....

OK here is a little history lesson for you. Are we all sitting comfortably, then i shall begin. I take it with that introverted comment that you are an American yes?

Once Upon a time there was a little country called the United Kingdom. It had many enemies called the IRA that came from a land full of Leprachauns and Guinness called Northern Ireland. For THIRTY years the IRA blew up many buildings in the United Kingdom and killed many brave soldiers and civillians totalling over 4000 people 90% of whom were civillians. Far more than the total dead of the twin towers. Taking into account the United States is a far far bigger country in a galaxy far far up its own arse with a population of over 200 million people as opposed to the UK's 60 million the total dead per capita is far far higher in the UK than the US.

Also how many times has the US seen a major terrorist/military attack on its own soil? Pearl Harbour, Oklahoma, WTC/Pentagon.

The UK had been invaded and attacked dozens of times by every muppet with a grudge and an army in the past 2000 years and in WWII we had entire cities burnt to the ground and blasted to rubble with untold 100's of thousands dead.

We in the UK have been there seen it done it worn the blood soaked t-shirt so if you Yanks for a second, think you are alone in your woe: you are not. You have had it VERY, VERY light so far. Believe me. And my brother was nearly killed in a bomb attack so i DO know what it is like.

PS: much of the money used to kill my people in the IRA reign of terror came from the US in the form of rallies and collection funding in the streets of New York, its funny but after 9/11 all collection stopped overnight,

The wheel turns does it not...

"Terror alerts everytime polls drop."

Don't remember where I read that, but it is rather strange that these terror alerts appear during favorable times for Bush.

Hey Rust, nice lecture. It has been a while since I was talked down too that badly.

Are you saying we in the U.S can't complain until our body count equals yours?

No offense but we won't wait if you don't mind. I also seem to remember it took Americans coming over there to help fix that little thorn in your...ARSE.

Rustiswordz.

Aside from the sarcasm, this was actually a pretty good post. Don't take me as an uneducated dolt because it doesnt suit you or represent me very well.

I actually had forgotten about the amount of terror that the IRA had caused and I really do sincerely appreciate that reminder.

Anyway, I digress. The direction of that post was to the people that keep saying that we are over reacting and that this is all a ploy by our govt to scare us into submission. I think that is just a stupid, blind and uninformed way to look at what is happening around the world today. In my belief we should always keep our eyes open and stay on alarm because terrorists or not, there is always some wacko who wants to kill people around them. I am not debating who has had it worse over the course of history because that is just pointless.

It is possible that the people I am directing my comments towards are a bit too young to remember the IRA's attacks and didnt have to live through that period with as much turmoil as you.

Blood is blood, its all red and its really hard to wipe off. Keep your eyes open and as the wonderful slogan of this repository states, deny ignorance

You know what? Great point!

What did England do when it was threatened or attacked.

They bit back! Hard! We are doing the same thing. O.K for you and not for us?

The IRA's goal was not the total obliteration of the UK, and nor did they have enormous support drawing from 2 billion people, nor a desire to obtain nuclear weapons.

India was satisfied with decolonialization. Al-Qaeda won't be satisfied until world conquest.

The IRA's goal was political (though wrong). And eventually peace sort of won out.

The religious fanaticism and depth of it in al_Qaeda is far larger and more dangerous.

The idea comparing the alerts to the hysteria induced in the pre-war Third Reich is also sickeningly preposterous and opposite of the truth. At that time, it was England and France who were tired of war, and contrary to Nazi propaganda, had no desire for conquest. It was the Nazis who whipped their own people up into a fanatic militaristic bloodlust with a hero worship---that sounds more like al-Qaeda.

And, *most* *importantly*, no German buildings or people were murdered by agents of France, England or Russia before 1939.

By contrast, Osama bin Laden explicitly declared total war (civilians are legitimate targets) on the US in 1998 after the bombings in Tanzania + Kenya, engineered by al-Qaeda.

The Nazis whipped up their people with the Big Lie. It is another Big Lie to assert that the US really has no authentic enemies, adn that they started it.

Im not saying the US shouldnt hit back. We did! We were much like Israel in our past history in dealing with terrorists. Find the ring leaders, round em up and shoot em! In fact we taught Israel everything we did, we gave em tanks, weapons training and taught their troops when Israel was first formed, the israli army is very like our own in disapline and rock hardness.

Im also not saying the US should have a body count like ours, only a major nuclear strike could make up for it in a shortest time possible.

Defend yourselfs we did.

As for the sarcasm i apologise but i was a little peeved at the time.
