Edison-Era Inventions Emerge From the Vaults of General Electric

Here's an interesting peek into some of the past efforts of General Electric to include some early solar powered machines, a century old electric car charger, fuel cells along with some more recent projects.

General Electric has pretty much had its hand in every major technological advance in the 130 years since its founding (in part by Thomas Edison!). The company recently started a Tumblr of some of its most striking innovations, filtered through Instagram, a photo sharing service that crops and alters photos to look all fuzzy and vintagey, something like a Polaroid or Instamatic. But this equipment looks at least as amazing without any photo filters, so we asked GE to send us the unaltered photos of these pulse-detonation activators and electrochemical fuel cells and all the other cool stuff they've been posting.

Neat! Its too bad these things didnt get as used as they could have, Those electric repowering stations could have been developed into something incredible by this time.

It kind of highlights the suppression of technology.. now alot of these old ideas are being pushed forward now that those who suppressed the advancement are securely in place to capitalize of of their implementation..

Who knew that electric cars once outsold combustion engine vehicles? Oh wait this is ATS so I am sure that some of our folks knew this, I for one did not..
