Here is a question I came up with after reading the thread If the USA gets nuked. Where is the safest place in the US to be (for an American).

I would think inside one of these old missile silos they sell would be your best chance

www.missilebases.com...

Other than that I would say as far as you could get from any Major city or any Military base. It wouldnt really matter if you did not have a good stockpile of supplies because you would no doubt starve in the comming nuclear winter or die or radation. If those are your options I would suggest going in a nuclear blast you wouldnt even know what hit you.

I would say make a bee line for NYC, that way your guranteed to get nuked. That way you die a quick painless death, well maybe not painless, but a none the quick death non the less. But I'm assuming you would rather survive the attack. In that case the safest place is probably Canada. Theres enough wilderness to live off the land. But of course with nuclear winter and all I would recommend the Carribean, its a nice place, and who would nuke the caribean. Lets see the safest place of all though for short term is inside you basement or home-built bomb shelter while wearing a hazmat suit. Oh yeah make sure your in the country. The suburbs are nice except all the neighbors will crowd you shelter if you have one. Also fallout from the city will kill you. So I would recommend a remote part of Iowa, far from any cities or military bases of anykind. Accept maybe a nuclear missle silo that hasn't already fired its missles. Also the Navy is safe. That will keep you away from the disaster zones.

The safest place to be if we all start slinging nukes would be off planet, of course. Aside from that, you best bet would be as Cyberdude stated. I'd rather take the quick way out.

Yeah but you have to come back to Earth eventually for things like oxygen, food, water, fuel, escape the UFOs.

Assuming the Sov's update thier target lists

If you are coaught in deevastated city, and can't get out Id find the nearest hospital with an MRI scanner. Therooms are heavily shielded and would offer some protedtion.

If its an all out exchange, better to be one of the casulties IMHO. And winds or not Canada has NORAD stations that will be hit. Don't forget all those silos in the Dakotas.

Actually a missle silo would be the least safe, because it will be targeted.

Well you better pray that the silo your hiding in is top secret. If not then enjoy your afterlife.

How long are you going to live in the MRI chamber? Underground? I don't think any suvivalist has a contingency for surviving the gah-zillion years the world would glow after a full out nuclear strike.

First one to get hit by nukes from Russia and China if those are the agggressors because it is the closest, so the least responsive. They have BMEWS (Ballistic missile Early Warning Radars) so depeds on if you consider those a target and how close to the major cities you are.

We were looking to buy prop as an investment. We were looking for as much land as possible for as cheap as possible. We have been researching and the farther you get from a city the cheaper the land gets. We also are keeping in the back of our mind as using it as a place to retire. But that remains to be seem. Especially if there is a nuke war.

I dont think you have to worry about a nuke war sir. That is too far fetched.

The safest place to be...

Deep underground.

If a nuke war is too far fetched, then why do they insist on creating more nuke's or smaller nukes?

Saftey, just in case, and as a deterrent, but I dont think you will see one in our lifetimes.

No doubt, but in the near term it would be your best bet if you could not get out of the city. The Hospital would have meds, food, water and an MRI scanner would be a good defensable position
