wow 20 pages and people still trying to justify willfully running over fellow human beings. I would say I was surprised, but the neo con rot has obviously seeped in deep to many US posters on this site.

Is it this thread or ATS in general?
It seems that the sociopaths are grossly over-represented here.

who are the sociopaths and how can you defend you're viewpoint?

And it is a neo-con point of view how? I am in no way defending the willingness to "run" people over but...you make the assertion that it is a 'neo-con rot"....so do tell...

Respect them when they protest? I guess that depends on what's being protested.

Wow, hard to believe some people would deliberately kill other people to get somewhere in a hurry. Your boss should understand you were delayed by a protest, but how do you know the motorists were on their way to work and not rushing to Walmart to get a super-duper deal before anyone else or rushing home to open their first brew?

Maybe it has to do with conflict resolution?

Old fashioned way: Stay Cool, Tell your Point of View, Explore their Point of View, Problem Solve. Worst case scenario is to call the police and let them handle it.

New Conflict Resolution indoctrination being taught:

I know here in good ol Louisiana the pedestrian DOES NOT have the right of way unless they are legally crossing in the painted crosswalks. I have worked several car crashes with pedestrians getting ran over and everyone seems to just be amazed that they get a ticket for being in the roadway. Everyone here has used the "I have the right of way" excuse. Please read your laws! Here you DO NOT have the right of way. That is why we have sidewalks and shoulders. Road are for vehicles not people. The main reason this is done this way is because we have had problems with black youths ganging up in the roadways and blocking traffic to rob people and such. so now when I’m driving my personal vehicle and i get into a bad part of town i watch for this. When I see these stupid groups in the middle of the road (usually shooting dice) they move pretty quickly when they here that V8 kick into high gear lol.It has become such a problem in tghe past that we actually passed the Anti-Carjacking law that give you the right to shoot and kill someone attempting to car jack you. It personally exemplifies my beliefe that we need a stiffer penalty for criminals. Before this law passed we were having an average of 2-5 carjhackings a month here and the surrounding areas. This passed, 2 idiots were shot and killed while trying to carjack someone, and now we have 1-3 A YEAR. Now tell me that law didnt work out pretty damn good lol.

It sure has, but then again, how many of those people do you believe are intelligent, thorough thinkers? How many deny ignorance? How many of them, do you believe, have an accurate view of history?

Then there's the lady making up the "emergency vehicle straw man" up, while there wasn't even an ambulance being held up - yet she consistently presses the imaginary ambulance forward - in order to minimize the protesters rights.

These people are not sound of mind. As harsh as it is, we're dealing with robots.

I can't believe this is still going on.
I doesn't really matter what the pedestrian laws are in your state, I am pretty sure that anywhere you are it is illegal to knowingly run over a human being! Which is what every single one of these drivers did. It doesn't matter what law that person was breaking or what they were doing to make your life harder it does not make it any more justifiable or legal to run them over. You can not justify the driver's wrong doing by saying the protesters were doing something wrong.
As for the emergency vehicle, there was none around, I'm pretty sure you would have heard sirens if there was one anywhere nearby. You cannot predict how the protesters would have acted had there been one there. As many people have said, they probably would have moved.
Simply put, these drivers are lunatics, those of you who defend them should probably check your sanity as well. Good luck to you when you have something to defend and the only way you can make yourself heard is to put your own life in danger. Good luck to you, with the way the world is going I'm sure more of you will find something to protest about, unless you continue to follow in the herd. Respect to the protesters, for fighting before it's too late. They obviously had some faith left in fellow humans when sadly they shouldn't have.

I beg your pardon! How dare you make such an assumption about me! I never claimed that an ambulance was being held up in any of those videos, I was simply saying that blocking a road can have serious consequences. I have frequently said that I do not condone running over protesters or that people shouldn't have the right to protest, but that they should do it in such a way that will not endanger their own or others lives!

People who only read one line of a post or a link and then wrongly accuse the poster of holding a particular viewpoint are not necessarily not of sound mind (I would not be so rude to suggest that of anyone), but are most certainly lacking in literacy and critical thinking skills.

I didn't see any hippies in any of the videos. Do you know what a hippy is? Do you think that everyone who protests is a hippy?

Well I know I’m about to get flamed here big time but so be it. IMHO I would run them over. I know the laws here in my state and I am not going to sit there and stop my life because you have a problem. You want to demonstrate, fine. Get you some signs make some noise and go at it to your hearts content within the guidelines of the law. But do not break the law by forcing me to stop. You have the right to demonstrate your feeling just like I have the right to be for whatever you are against. In this state I can promise you that I will continue to ease my vehicle forward at a slow enough speed for you to get out of the way. However if you choose to stand there and block my path while my vehicle moves forward then be prepared to be run over at an extremely slow rate of speed. As the old saying goes, your rights end where mine begin.

Really that's the only lesson the dumb arses learned??? Really?
Ya think the girl that is probably in a wheel chair with destroyed knees, will lay down in the road to protest?? I'll bet ya 50$ she doesn't!

Because I don't feel sorry for some dumb arse that has grandiose plans of changing the world, and to do so, lies down in front of a vehicle????? I am the one with issues? lmfao! People like you are the problem... People are getting too soft! I call this NATURAL SELECTION - If you lay down in front of a vehicle, you should do so expecting to get run over!!! Period!!!!!!!

Just because you feel the need to protest, DOES NOT give you the right to interfere with me or mine... What if one of the people in that traffic jam was on their way to the hospital to give birth? Or just got a phone call that dad was going to succumb to cancer soon, and requested your presence? These little maggots have ZERO right to affect others with their protest....

There are also people that are so arrogant and self absorbed that they will go on forums like ATS and prove it!!! There are those that feel that their opinion is the only "right" one.... I wish you would protest like these folks.. they seem like your "cup of tea"

ATTENTION: This is NOT Avatar and you are not Navi! Get off the ground and do something productive! If you cant rally enough people to the cause WITHOUT lying in front of cars..... Maybe you should accept the fact that your "protest" Only means something to YOU!! Everyone else would like the right to carry on with their lives!

Now, if you would kindly check my oil while your under there?

wow and i thought i touched a nerve. however i do agree with what you say. why should your protest get in the way of someone who has an actual emergency? Natural selection is a pretty good description lol.

I'd feel more comfortable standing on the roof of a jewish synagogue, surrounded by burqa wearing muslim ladies, all strapped with TNT than I would sitting around 75% of the people on this site, not just this post. . . Hell I'd rather go hiking in Iran with a gay person and a bikini wearing woman before I have tea with most of the hate filled people on this site.!

How dare you call people with a difference of opinion robots?? What if we were to call you emotionally retarded? Now, I would never do that... Nobody is calling you names for siding with the plankers/oil changers are they? If you are dumb enough to lay down in front of a 2000lbs car, I would prefer you didn't contribute to the future gene pool. Period!

How about if we call you "Overly emotional/ emotionally "touched"

Ever hear "survival of the fittest" ??

I shed a tear during "Old yeller" - I balled like a child in that Denzel Washington Washington movie about his son.. I am not void of emotion... I am just a realist, that feels that these people are plain dumb! Your protest DOES NOT have the right to interfere with my rights!
