Armchair Astronaut Discovers Mars

www. dailymail.co.uk

We have all heard of little green men from Mars.

But now an American 'armchair astronaut' claims to have discovered a mysterious structure on the surface of the red planet - by looking on Google earth.

edit: fixed, thank you.

The photos in the article look intriguing, but not good enough to discern what exactly you're looking at. Looks odd, nonetheless. If nothing else, it doesn't appear to be an artifact of sorts. It actually looks like something is there...the question is what.

Check it, ATS. Thoughts?

Mods: did a quick search, couldn't find any recent Mars threads. Apologies, mods, if I overlooked others.

There is a thread made last week on ats of a guy who found it on mars. If you search around it should be here somewhere. It's cool though that it's picking up some mainstream coverage.

Its funny because the thing is, I think its a fellow ATSer who found or break that story out.
Anyway i'm not ready to jump to any conclusion yet about station bio alpha lol.

There's already a thread about it:

Proof: Station on MARS

Actually a few threads about it. But those got 404'ed as well since there are so many threads on it

Don't understand why I attempted to enter the coordinates listed here: www.dailymail.co.uk... into Google Earth and received this message:

We could not understand the location 49'19.73"N 29 33'06.53"W .
Suggestions:
Make sure all street and city names are spelled correctly.
Make sure your address includes a city and state.
Try entering a zip code.

Wow, does the daily mail actually hire journalists, or are they just picking threads from ATS?

It's an imaging artifact, Phage made a post explaining and linking to the original image used for google earth(mars).

Is it just me or does the top photo look like a "cut and paste" job?

Thanks all for the responses. I guess I need to search for some threads on how to properly search for an already-posted item. Wanted to get my thank-you in before this gets 404'd.

Peace all.

wow, you read my mind on both!!

digital maps from many segment pics will always have some distortions, esp when the quality of the segments is low to start with.

This is nothing more than a place on mars that needs its own dedicated picture of the grid with no joins and at a higher res, if it does turn out to be somthing then very nice (lucky) catch. Armchair astronaught made me laugh tho
