Thats where the myth of vampires as we know them today originated from,

I don't know, there have been many myths about the sucking the life (in most cases blood) from their victims.

Without a doubt porphyia(sp?) has caused half of what is thought about vampires today, but it is mixed with old legends and myths.

Apparently, in some very severe cases, individuals suffering from Erythropoietic Protoporphyria started to bleed profusely from their skin when they were exposed to light. The doctors could only shut the patients up in dark rooms during the day, and only let them out when the sun was down. The doctors also encouraged the patients to drink blood to replace the lost liquid.

I believe the myth of the Vampire came from long ago during high magical times. There were those that "sucked the energy" out of people, psychic vampires....there were those that fed off of the energy of other and deliberately drained them....

this i know to be true ..coz i was married to 1..
