Politician 'Meows' at Female Senator During Debate W/Video

(Reuters) - A meowing Australian senator touched off a political row in Canberra on Wednesday after his cat imitation directed at Finance Minister Penny Wong sparked accusations that the opposition behaved like sexists and goons, and were feral.

Liberal Tasmanian Senator David Bushby meowed at Wong at a hearing when Wong - Australia's first Malaysian-born and first openly gay cabinet member - fought constant interruptions.

I had the oportunity to visit Australia 2 years ago and got a rare chance to sit in and observe the common wealth parliament. What a joke! I have never seen so much fighting and low blow insults in my entire life. It was actually better than watching a comedy show. Highly paid politicians behaving like immature high school kids seems to be the norm these days and not just in Australia. These people have far too much influence and make far too much money for the rotten jobs they accomplish.

If someone was to do that at a meeting at a company meeting, they would probably lose their job as a result.

You ought to check out some videos of politics in some of the Asian countries....I've seen them break out into BRAWLS in their Parliament or whatever they call it...fists flying, but it's not like a kung fu movie, more like some highschool fruits trying to slap each other. Funny.

Good for her on her comeback response, I watched the video and she made a good point. Seems to carry a professionalism about her that exceeds others in that room considering their retarded meow. She could have pounced and clawed his face up but didn't, that would have been a more entertaining response.

Meow is nothing when you watch and listen to Aussie politics, as you have seen this first hand.
I agree Australian politics is great to watch and better than any comedy show any day. Well..... it would be if it wasn't your tax dollars hard at work.
I watch the politics on ABC tv in Australia just for a laugh too.
I love seeing the speaker of the house sending a minister out to the sin bin for 10mins to cool down.
The way i see it, all politians are egotistical self centred freaks.

I don't think here come back was harsh enough really. She just replies with sarcasm when she should of came right out and said how blatantly rude and disrespectful his "meow" was and how comments like that show his true contempt for true politics.
