Yes, the son of Ron Paul, the savior of many in some circles, this I think being one of them, Rand Paul, the freedom loving, advocate of a strict constitutionally limited government, wants to imprison or deport people who have committed the thought crime of listening to a speech that he deems "radical" which he defines as:

...But if someone is attending speeches from someone who is promoting the violent overthrow of our government, that’s really an offense that we should be going after — they should be deported or put in prison.

Yes, by that definition, most, if not all, of the founding fathers should have been deported and imprisoned, along with the large number of Rand Paul / Ron Paul supporters who seek to violently overthrow the government, even if you don't want to actually violently overthrow the government, as Rand's, Ron's or really anyone's speech may be interpreted as a radical voicing their intent to overthrow the government by wearing a "We came unarmed ( This time)" shirt, or perhaps quoting Jefferson's 'Tree of Liberty' quote.

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but seeing how Ron / Rand are viewed and portray themselves, it's a really ironic and hilarious thing to hear.

you left out of your headline...that the type of speeches he is talking about are radical speeches aiming at bringing government down VIOLENTLY...why are you omitting words to make him out as a bad guy? If people are going to be attending radical speeches that aim at anarchy or violent overthrow of government I'd think it would be grounds for some sort of action

and yes as above poster said...already posted he beat you by about 5 minutes

Ron Paul is my shepherd, I shall not want.
Ayn Rand and company are there too.
Austrian economics are so astute as to be
Above the heads of anyone who does not agree
Gold is the only resource, people are the chattel
May he bring holy riches to shine upon our corporate overlords
Amen.

Deport the only people who have the courage, and the intelligence to understand the only path to fixing this country? Sounds like a plan made in heaven for the oligarchs.

Yes, that's right. It is the only way. Period.

Ugh, I must have typed Ron Paul in the search instead of Rand Paul, my apologies.

I suppose a mod can delete this and whatnot.

so you're saying the only path to fixing this country is through violent overthrow of government? because that's exactly what he said they should be looking at and stopping via deportation or imprisonment if they're conspiring such a thing...

I'm also pretty sure he is talking about foreigners and/or radical ideologists

I don't think it, I know it.

That's exactly what they'd love to do, imprison, send off, or kill every patriot left in this country.

Who determines what is radical, first it's me, next it's you. Don't forget that.

violent overthrow of our government will only create an even stricter regime and probably civil war...it must start peaceful to show the good intentions of such a movement...if a peaceful approach is impossible then I would except what you're saying...but it's not impossible at this point in time and if you ask me Ron Paul is our best chance at a peaceful chance of turning things around

Overthrow the Gov't. that the corporations bought and paid for? Not gonna happen my young friend. Get some dirt into your ears and some grease under your fingernails, they will act as filters.
The world isn't going to end, your world will collapse only if you allow it to. I knew a guy that when Obama was elected thought it to be the end of freedom, after the first 6 months he already had a plan on how to make money in the Obama era. He's doing quite well.
I wanna know whatever happened to critical thinking. Not this kind of tripe that passes for intellectualism, but bold, unabashed questioning?
What most are afraid of in 2012 isn't a comet, a supermassive volcano, a close encounter of the fourth kind, a pole-shift, a chemtrail endgame, a great shift of conscientiousness, a Dollar collapse, a galactic shift, or more ordinary threats such as Peak Oil, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, tsunami.
No, what I see the people of ATS afraid of is their own mortality.
Pure and simple.
Allow me to tell you that nobody on this forum is gonna live forever.
Allow me to explain that nobody here controls any of the aforementioned events.
Allow me to let you in on a little secret, all civilizations will collapse, your problem is, and many others share this affliction is that nobody knows where the first domino is gonna fall, and being young that causes you angst.
Get over it.
I thought the same things and sometimes still do. I only know now how to live for the moment with an educated eye on the future.
In other words, Be nice to everyone, love like theres no tomorrow, make sure you know how to forgive, remember the golen rule and most important, learn to love, especially yourself.

If Rand Paul wasn't the son of Ron Paul no one would like him, everyone thought that he would leave his statist positions behind after getting elected, but nope. Rand Paul is disappointing.

I agree with Rand Paul.
Why target old ladies and babies in diapers and let a man in middle Eastern clothing go by un-bothered?

Terrorists come in all shapes. Before whatever craziness happened on 9/11, two white guys from the great plains were the #1 mass murderer/terrorists. So, yeah, check everyone or no one. I don't care either way.
