Great, thanks. The image is even larger than I thought.

For those using the NASAView program to look at the 350 megabyte H5620_0000_ND2, choose
[Large Image Selection] up top.
Then under that:
[Select Lines And Samples]
Start Line: 29950
Stop Line: 35000
Start Line Sample: 2950
Stop Line: 5000
That'll take you to the pixel blip.

even shows the same areas in much higher resolution in January 2010 from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Clearly there is nothing there.

But you must take account of the human brains hardwired task to make sense out of disorder. It's a jungle survival thing. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED TO SEE FORM WHERE THERE IS NONE. You need to be smart and realise this. You need to take account of all the artifacts that digital imaging can produce ie take thousands of photos, edit them, play around with photo editors note how compression introduces artifacts, note how compression works (blocks lines etc). Saturated pixels, damaged pixels in cameras etc

Once you put all that together then you will realise why so many people here are shouting "digital artifacts".

Please note I have seen some martian anomalies, some real crackers. But everything in this thread so far is just full of artifacts and wild imaginations!

There are so many photo anomalies and so many possible manipulation techniques now that you almost need more than a great photo. So anything sub par usually has no chance. Mars like Earth is super old, and obviously humans have been here long before us and will be long after. These planets are like truck stops and humnas come and go for the great abundance of resouces available to them. It's insane for the average person to think that there has never been life on mars or anywhere else in the vast universe. But if they think that way, just ask them to prove it. We can more easily prove life exists elsewhere than someone could prove it does not.

i was wondering if someone could shed some light on this for me. i found a couple of metal looking tubes on mars, but i am not sure i am no expert. they dont look like any type of natural thing to me. what do you guys think these are?

i doubt very much if i can shed light on your images, you know how easy these images can be classified as "imagery artifact, rocks, pixelations and cosmic rays" but yes i do observed some peripheral images around it and it measures roughly 130 meters in length and most notably there is that 3.2 kms. circular depression that seems very odd having a double rimmed crater if it is a crater. Craters usually have debris and ejecta formation all around the rim...

I think ti evidence some-"thing" is in the photos...not actual vindication anything is really up there for sure unitl we get there. And thats a long way off. Far form actul 'proof'. Im getting to hate that word...

I have just found this interesting image on Google Mars, there is a clear triangular shaped object below the surface. It is interesting to not that what appears to be a dried up river bed is close by. Could this be something or can it easily be explained as a natural occurance. I am in no way an expert. Take a look for yourself 30,18'39.49N - 17,52'54.22E

My favorite place on Google Mars is this natural land bridge, the only remnant left of the roof of a lava tube tunnel at

I think we should send a rover there, for the express purpose of jumping up and down on that bridge like Short Round in TEMPLE OF DOOM. "See, strong bridge! Strong bridge!" *crack*

As a secondary objective, it can bungie-jump over the side and see if there are any Martian trolls living under the bridge.

Can somebody move this to its own topic for me as I am not allowed to start them as a new user. Alternatively it could just be something nobody gives a # about anyway. But I thought it was a compelling find, clearly not

The only real way to verify whether or not something is or isn't there is to build, design, test, and launch your own mars probe, and to receive and decode the signals with your own equipment. Otherwise you are at the mercy of the NASA censors.
