This could potentially be the site of a recent collision from a large interstellar object, well at least within the last few thousand years. Or maybe an interstellar object that had ice or something on it and the surface changed in response to the contact, or even overturned mars-dirt. I don't really have any experience in astronomy though the linear nature of the "thing" makes it a partially sensible explanation I suppose.

Beat me to it! I see that the news monkeys will print anything these days. This is news? It's probably just another hit piece on "conspiracy theorists" to ridicule them. Slow news day? Slam the CTs.

It was on Fox news. I usually don't believe anything they say. But what I find interesting, is the earliest MSM report was from June 4, by the Daily Mail. It is probably some kind of image error, but why hasn't NASA or Google released a statement about it? Why not give some explanation no matter how absurd or realistic it might be? Silence is never a good thing.

To say its pixilation is a bit farfetched in my opinion. Only because the previous images in this thread show a single line of pixilated blocks, when clearly, though blurry the image is, shows several blocks smaller and larger than each other. So I am not quite convinced yet.

A spokesman for NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab told FoxNews.com it was investigating the wild claims, speculating that "Bio Station Alpha" would most likely be determined to be a glitch in the digital imaging or an unusual feature on the surface of the planet -- and not a Martian base.

When it comes to aliens visiting Earth, I am a massive skeptic on the issue. If we as skeptics want to be taken seriously, we should investigate each case before saying, "wild claims". Since the conditions on Mars were rumored to be similar to Earth, the planet has so much potential for finding old human based civilizations. Sure, this could end up being a glitch, but there is a very-very high probability for discovery.

What are the chances for winds moving in the right direction, and something beneath the dirt and soil becomes uncovered?

Does Mars have life on it now? Most likely not.

Did Mars have life on it in the past? Who knows. "What if..." You know?

After being disappointed with NASA's new direction, I do not trust them with telling me the seven day forecast.

We really need to take human based space exploration seriously. Someday we are going to actually find something, and we will be sitting on our buts asking, "Why do we not have the capability to get there?"

Let us see what they have to say. Although this may end up being a glitch, I think it sparks our curiosity to think about things bigger than ourselves.

Agreed that this is simply missing data. "Move on people, nothing to see here"..

until we or someone ever goes to mars

no one can either prove or disprove that image

No just means Humans just took a tragic left turn in logic and analytical thinking. And joined there fellow primates in the jungle beating on their breasts at the sight of another primate, "cutting his grass" as we say here in Oz.

OK - I need to learn more about longitude and latitude - I see how I was confusing them!
( I stand corrected on that specific point).

I also wanted to thank all the folks that have added additional images of Mars in the above
posts on this thread - they are really interesting
and I do agree that they appear to show anomalies.
I will save them and study them further with my trusty magnifyng glass!
