The fruit from the tree of knowledge made Adam and Eve (this represents all mankind) believe that they should be ashamed. So ashamed were they that they hid. We have been hiding ever since. Shame and guilt, hope and fear are the result of eating from the tree of knowledge.
It is not too late though.
Knowledge is fine as long as we don't believe it. It is ok to have knowledge as long as we understand that knowledge is conceptual, that it is not true.
Knowledge was handed to us by the serpent.
Life is what we are and no serpent should be trusted.
It was and never will be possible for you to be separated from God.

The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.
The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.
The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.
The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.
The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.

Have I mentioned that it's The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL?

LOL!

"Can you explain X about Christianity/Bible for us?"

"Can I use the Bible to explain?"

"Absolutely not."

"Ummmm, K."

Ever get that feeling that you just want to do a "Curly Facewipe"?

In answer to what is IT?:
You had written this,
"And I still marvel at how obsessed anti-Christians are with our faith and our Bible, more so than many of our own people are. I could call it a mere curiosity, but on any other topic it would be considered psychosis". End quote.

"The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.
The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.
The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.
The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.
The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL."

Very nice.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil, made Adam and Eve aware of 'concepts', like good and evil, wrong and right. Good and bad are concepts, they are dualistic.
When all is one (with god) there is no right or wrong, there are no judgments. It just is.

God all one is the life. (Non-duality)
Knowledge (belief) of good and evil equals the walking dead. (Duality)

Anything to help clarify. ;-)

When we walk with God or the tree of life, we allow God to do the judging, it is no concern for us. It just is (justice).
When we believe the serpent or the tree of knowledege of good and evil we take the world to be our concern. The world is then very heavy with judgments.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil was not a 'bad' thing though. Without it we would not be able to know the world of 'things'. We can enjoy the 'ten thousand things' and by seeing them we can know the self.
Without the introduction of duality (which is what the good/evil tree does) there would be just nothingness.
There still is just nothingness. However, it looks like something because we have built it out of the illusion of opposites.
It is all thought.

Sorry this has nothing to do with thread really but i reply to this particular post because i can not help wondering how anyone can give a star to; thanks for clarifying. All of your posts on this thread have received a star and they really aren't star worthy posts, my opinion counts for nothing though. I think you have an admirer.
I know it was not you starring yourself.
I just think this is a crazy place.
Have you noticed?

It's really simple to understand;

God put us in a magical garden where everything was perfect, told us not to eat the fruit of "knowledge", the knowledge that gave man the understanding of right and wrong. The right and wrong that God wants us to adhere to.

Make sense? Hurr Durr Christians, Hurr Durr.

On a serious note, some "believers" preach we were born into sin, others think we were created "upright" or "good" but we "chose" to be bad (by eating fruit, and covering up our genitalia) i.e. We chose using the "free will" God gave us.

It's much easier to understand when you realise this is just people making their own "theories" up to try and give light on Morality or our origins. Some of them rather primitive....

Precious little has been on-topic, which was a question about forbidden fruit, not a free-for-all on how everybody BUT Christians interpret "the fall of man" as recorded in the Bible. So I guess another off-topic comment fits right in. ;-)

Hadn't. Don't care. I think it's obvious that I'm not here to be popular. :-D But thanks for drawing my attention to the stars, they're such a nice shade of blue.

The Tree of the Knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL.

Regardless of what the knowledge actually is, they were still being kept ignorant. With that knowledge they could have asked "Why is X good and Y evil?" or "What determines whether or not something is good?"

Is an underage child being "kept ignorant" if their parents make sure they don't see any porn or gore on TV?

And who needs to ask "what" determines good and evil when God is right there in plain sight? Someone who thinks it's really us who's God and should reserve the right to judge our creator?

Is this site /thread just for Christians?
We should just be talking about apples if we stick to the subject, that would be pretty boring though!

Yep! We need children to be enlightened and make decisions for themselves. It they want to make love at 10 yrs old who are we to judge??? This ain't China!

We should just be talking about apples if we stick to the subject, that would be pretty boring though!

From the OP:

if 'God' requested Adam & Eve not to eat from the Apple tree .. and they were punished for disobeying his request .. why do people who are believers in God still eat Apples to this day...??

The question is directed at "people who are believers in God". In this thread, not the whole site.

Do you suppose the OP just wanted to know how Christians answer this question? Can the OP decide what to talk about? Some people actually believe that every public discussion is a free-for-all where people can post whatever random words they choose on any topic at any time, and should not have to stick to the topic. Is that what you believe?

IMO God is omnipotent. So he must have knew Adam and Eve would sin and eat of the tree of knowledge. Bad move on his part. Even more remarkable. If God knew what was going to happen why did he make the tree of knowledge in the first place. No tree. No temptation.

the question was more directed to those who believe in God + the whole story. (im not a believer btw)

so ok what ever fruit it was that they ate from the "tree of Knowledge" be it an apple, banana, mango whatever.. God said NOT TO EAT IT.. my question is.. after they ate from the tree did god they just go "well F#%K it.. u all might as well eat from it now" OR is everyone still disobeying GOD by still eating this Fruit...??

OR does this said fruit no longer exist as it only came from that one tree..

+ i say again... please keep in mind that this was just a random non-important thought i had that i thought i'd throw out there...
