The guy's living in a fantasy world...he says that he still believes it happened (he made up a lovely story/event in the Holocaust which was found out to later be a fat lie). Well, it was a touching story, but it's fake. Watch the vid:

Lol :S, I should have said "Jew lies of an event in the Holocaust". Is it too late to change the title?

I haven't even posted a topic here, yet, so I really don't know haha. But I posted that statement so people will read it before complaining. You should be good

You still have time to edit, but if you've run out, U2U me and I'll do it for you.

My thoughts on this strange story are mixed. On one hand, we have a child who was in a concentration camp and who very likely saw horrible things happening.

On the other, this same man cooked up a story which was admittedly false, but refuses to stop telling it because he thinks it's beautiful, which, really, it is, even though it is a lie.

The upshot is a disturbed individual who is hanging onto something positive (a lie) out of what must have been exceedingly painful. This is one for the psychologists.

There were many lies about the holocaust.
The one I liked the best was that jews were the only ones.

There were christians, nulims,Etc.
If you seek, then you shall find.
Lol, and I'm not even christian.

I hope you get the title fixed because it's definitely misleading and I almost didn't read the thread because of it. That would have been my loss because this is baffling and I'm sitting here speechless after watchng the video. I just don't get it. He wanted to bring attention to the Holocaust by romanticizing it? This man clearly told this lie for the publicity and money and though it could probably be debated that he should get everything in life he wants after the attrocities he lived through, his actions will, unfortunately, only serve to add more fuel to the fire used by the fanatics who insist that the most horrendous event in human history never happened. This video is a great find, OP, and should be the topic of much interest and debate - I hope you get the title fixed so it attracts more readers.

Seriously? "About an event" and "of an event" is virtually the same. WTF... Leave it alone... The title is fine.

I don't see the deal, just sensationalism.

Would make for a touching movie, don't you think?

The letter A needs to be added to the title, right at the start.

Other than that, I am leaving this topic well alone.

You and I must have read different history books because I have never heard or read anything that said only the jews were persecuted during the Holocaust. This seems to be a pretty thinly veiled attempt at passive-aggressive bigotry, my friend, but if not, by all means please feel free to show me where anyone ever claimed it was only the jews who were persecuted...

EDIT: I'm going to be a big girl and admonish myself here because I bit at the hook and responded off-topic.

It would make for a very touching movie.
A story of undying love against all odds!
That would sell.
But on the other hand, Lucas did not market Star Wars as "Based on true events".
A lie is a lie, whether partial or in whole.
And if everyone held on to one little lie, imagine how big that could get through the course of history.
I would love to know my past, so that I may make an educated guess at my future.

Huh?
Do you deny that the jews own the holocaust?
When the word holocaust is used there is only one group that is thought of.
I do not veil anything, nor am I a bigot.
I dislike all religions and politicians the same.
Quick, do a Google and 99 out of 100 will come up with the word jew in them, how many will mention any other religion?

"Own the Holocaust"??? As I said in my edit, this is off topic so I'm not going to engage in a debate over this with you in this thread, but I'm exercising great restraint. This is the last I'll respond because I have respect for ATS rules and decorum.

Fair enoughbut, the words jew, lies, and holocaust are in the title of the story.
I was just pointing out those words seem to go well together.

So what makes this story any different than most of the other stories made up about the holocaust? That it was invented by an individual instead of governments?

Elie Weisel struggled against including the Porjamos (the Romani holocaust) in the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. Despite numerous attempts to get a Roma person on the 65-member council of the United States Holocaust Museum, Weisel blocked them all; some were finally brought into the council after he stepped down. Though he has since admitted the Romani were victims of the Nazis as well, he maintains that Jews were the "supreme" victims, and deserve "special remembrance."

I'm of course, completely aware that Weisel does not speak for all Jews. However, there you go.

Again I reiterate that this is off topic and not relevant to the original OP (the video presented about this particular man's lie). With that said, I'm an honorable person and did, before my redaction which was clearly ignored, issue a challenge to show me where one person might have said that only Jews were persecuted during the Holocaust and I respectfully acknowledge that you came close to accomplishing this (although someone saying that one group deserves "special rememberance" doesn't exactly equate to saying that only one group was persecuted). Putting semantics aside, I am just as disturbed as you by Elie Wiesel's actions with respect to the Holocaust Museum and statements made once he stepped down, but am also in agreement that he surely doesn't speak for all Jewish people. I still stand behind my statement that history doesn't assign "ownership" of the Holocaust to the Jews or any one group based solely on religion or ethnicity. There's a reason it's not referred to as "The Jewish Holocaust" or "The Romani Holocaust" - the Nazi's were equal opportunity bigots who hated anyone that didn't fit their own idealized mold - and no statement made by any one individual can change what's been historically recorded to have occurred.
