Hi People...
Sorry for the confusion. I hope I can clear things up:
1) Yes. I feel there was merit to some of the claims put forth by our Yahoo refugees. It does indeed appear as though they had a Group on Yahoo that
suddenly disappeared.
2) It is possible the Group was removed due to illegal activity. This may also explain the sudden disappearnce of their leader who is an admitted
hacker. (Putting 2 and 2 together, we get...)
3) Many threads and users were missing when the forum came back up. I was working with our ISP at the time, and knew the exact moment the site
returned... both the "member totals" and the "thread totals" numbers were less than before the server crashed. When a database connection crashes,
very often the
active data may be lost. I'm sure other experts will chime in, but this means that if a server crashes during an open session
with a database record, it is possible to corrupt that record. It is very likely this is the case, all open records at the time of the crash were lost
or corrupted.
4) Bob88 (as an admin) can view the activity log of the Administration Panel for ATS. He assures me there are no "deletethread" activities leading
up to, or immediately after the forum crash.
I hope this helps. I know this is a stressful time, and odd things are indeed happening. The best way to deal with such stress is to remember these
two simple ideas:
1- Most things aren't nearly as bad as you think
2- Somethings are worse than you can imagine
We can all reduce our stress by remembering #1. And since we haven't yet imagined #2, there's no point in worrying.
Now... I return you to your regularly scheduled mayhem...
